I was pretty hungry during my adjustment, so I asked my chiropractor where he likes to grab lunch, and he recommended this place pretty highly - said someone in the kitchen is doing something right and that everything he's had is good... ...that person in the kitchen must've been off today. I headed over at lunchtime to get the Saturday special - smoked wings. I ordered a pound of lemon pepper smoked wings (I was told I couldn't order less) with sides of macaroni and green beans. I was told the wings were made to order (probably finished to order) but my food was ready within a few minutes and piping hot. I took it home to eat. Here's my assessment: The wings were really large and meaty, which was nice. However, probably because of the size, they were slightly underdone - not just a little pink, but they meat didn't pull easily off the bone and the fat under the skin hadn't rendered. I am pregnant, so I finished them in the air fryer to be safe. The seasoning was solid, though not very lemon peppery. They tasted best with the side of sweet barbecue sauce. The mac was a touch dry, but fairly cheesy and would have been pretty decent if even a single grain of salt had been used to make them. The same issue plagued the green beans, which were also unsalted. The other seasoning was simple, but okay once I added salt, though the green beans were very mushy, as though they'd started as canned, which is not my preference. Judging from the other glowing reviews, maybe this was an off day, but considering nothing was great and bbq is on the pricier end of takeout, I don't think I'll risk disappointment again. read more

Found this little Gem while looking for BBQ places on Yelp while visiting in Atlanta. It's in a small shopping strip and surrounded by other little restaurants. Mexican, Asian and a bird store. Lol. First off, it's very small inside. They have some outside seating. But, if it's raining like it was when we went. There is a "wall" bar seating of a small area up front. I had already researched the menu before hand so I already knew what I wanted. I ordered the rib plate which came with two sides and of course no bread for me. Now most places I go to when I order a rib plate it's like those small baby back ribs and honestly that's what I thought I had ordered. Until he starts stacking my rib tray with monster side ribs. Like 6 monster strips. NOT COMPLAINING!!! lol. Got green beans as my side which were not canned green beans but you could tell were fresh snapped (well they tasted like they were) and a sweet potato. My date had the same thing with a side order of brisket. He seemed just as shocked as me with the amount of food we got. I had to take a doggie bag home.. he cleaned his tray no issue. MEN!!! Good Cue but a bit dry. We were down to Marietta visiting my Son and the Grandsons and went to a soccer practice at the "Y" across the street. Wanted to get a quick bit and my Son Brian suggested the Righteous 'Que across the street. Interesting thought because the Righteous 'Que had been on my list of restaurants that I want to try. Small restaurant but everyone is friendly and I suspect that it is a local favorite and a good part of their traffic is local. You walk in and after reviewing the menu Board, you place your order and pay and then you find a seat and wait. Don't worry. The wait is not long. One of the things I like about BBQ is that it takes so long to cook the meat, they have to start early and it's generally ready when you order. Only delay is on the sides. True to the above, lunch came out fairly shortly. Point of Order. BBQ is a partisan affair. Being from NC, I prefer the Eastern Pepper Vinegar style as opposed to the Lexington Style. Then you have South Carolina, Texas, Memphis, Kansas City etc. Overall, I would call this a cross between KC and Texas. They do have a lot of brisket which translates to Beef and Pulled Pork which is more Memphis or Carolina. The group was a party of six with my son, his wife and two grandsons and my wife and myself and we had a diversity of menu items. For those who like the Brisket, they loved it and the restaurant nailed it. For those of us who are Pork Lovers, the pulled pork sandwich was very dry and the Sauce that was provided at the table, despite the markings had neither the tang or a pepper vinegar nor did it offer the heat. Not a good contrast. As I indicated, BBQ is somewhat partisan. Next time I take my own sauce and it will be OK. Interesting concept. A portion of the proceeds each day goes to a charity, a non-profit, a family in need in the local community etc. I assume that this is were the Righteous comes from in the name. Giving back to the community is a great concept and I applaud them for their efforts. In general, everyone enjoyed their lunch and even the BBQ snob (me) found it to very good. Stopped by this place yesterday to get take out with my son for the first time and wasn't sure what to get but the staff were very helpful. Smoked wings, S.S sandwich, brisket sandwich and baked beans.... I was literally sucking on the bones of those wings! My son immediately wanted more! So..... we came back again today... So let me just say that I had been a long time fan and this was my favorite BBQ place in the area but tonight my husband and I were very disappointed. Normally the meat almost fell off the bone tonight it was on the dry side. The collard greens didn't have much flavor. There was no sweetness to the loaded sweet potato with brisket. Righteous 'Que was truly a pleasure. To start, we were greeted by a friendly, knowledgeable cook ready to take our order. After, being shown the ropes, we came to the conclusion that we would try the Sampler plate. This included 3 ribs, 3 samples of chicken, some pulled pork and slices of brisket. All were very flavorful and the ribs, as they should, slid right off the bone. Even though the meats were seasoned thoroughly, they had the added bonus of including 3 signature sauces. The Spicy BBQ and regular sauce were great for me. BTW, for the kids, they have fries that mirror McDonald's which is unique for a BBQ spot. Overall, great food and nice atmosphere. It was my first time ordering from Righteous Que. I ordered online for curbside pickup but ended up walking inside to pick up my large order. My large order was already prepared at the time I set for me to pick up. The young man at the counter was very helpful. I asked him about curbside pickup and he told me that I can drive to the curb and call their number. He was not annoyed when I asked. It's good to know. I ordered one pound of brisket (online I ordered mix of lean and fat,) a full rack of ribs, a pound of pulled pork, collard greens, cole slaw, mac n cheese, texas toast, and their mini corn muffins. Everything was so good. Their collard greens was really flavorful with a kick. I loved it. My favorite sauce is the spicy one. They were out of sausage which I would have liked to have tried. I've had Righteous 'Que both in a catered setting and at the restaurant. The barbecue is pretty good. The business opened in 2013 in the Piedmont Commons (Publix) shopping near the corner of Roswell Rd and E Piedmont Rd in East Cobb. This is a small, simple, "mom and pop" type restaurant and, partly because it's comparatively new, it's not as big nor gets quite the volume as some of the more established barbecue restaurants in Marietta. It's still popular though and has gained a devoted following including some of my coworkers who have become regulars. When looking for the restaurant, don't look for "Righteous 'Que," but rather "BBQ," which is displayed prominently on the storefront. If facing Publix, it'll be on your right. Parking is plentiful, but seating is limited. Inside, there are four four-tops and about a half-dozen seats along a counter against the wall. Outside the restaurant's entrance, on the shopping center's covered walkway, there are a couple more four-tops. So max seating capacity is about 30. Dining in with a small group (four or less) is fine, assuming you can avoid the rush, but I wouldn't recommend this place for groups of five or more. The menu is fairly simple. They offer smoked pork and chicken, beef brisket, and pork ribs. Like other barbecue joints, you can get these meats (except the ribs) served on a plate with two sides (about $13-17) or on a sandwich with one side (about $8-10). You can also buy meats by the pound (or for ribs, by the half or full rack) and sides by the pint or quart. Sides include baked beans, Brunswick stew, kettle chips, coleslaw, collard greens, green beans, mac & cheese, potato salad, and sweet potato. Something unique they offer is a loaded sweet potato made with either pork, chicken, or brisket (about $7-9). Desserts include banana pudding, oatmeal cream pies, and chocolate chip cookies ($3 each). A few sides which are notably missing from Righteous 'Que's menu are fried okra, fries, hush puppies. Fried okra and hush puppies are among my favorite sides to get with barbecue so I was a bit surprised when I first noticed these common barbecue sides weren't on the menu. I recommend the brisket and pork (chopped). I wasn't impressed with the chicken (I'm not really a BBQ smoked chicken fan anyway) and, at the time of writing this review, I haven't tried the ribs yet. I've tried the pork both chopped and pulled, and personally, I prefer the chopped version because it's easier to sauce and eat. The pulled version I tried seemed too dry. The brisket is very good. It's thick, tender, and flavorful and can almost be eaten without a sauce. Some slices can be fattier than others, so if you have a preference between fatty and non-fatty brisket, you can let the staff know and they might be able to accommodate. Something on the menu that is kind of ridiculous is the "Soul Saver" sandwich. At $10.75, it's actually not a bad deal. It's an open-faced sandwich piled high with pieces of pork, chicken, and brisket, all topped with bacon. You could try eating this sandwich with your hands, but it's more practical to attack it with a fork and knife. It's a lot of meat. "Meat Sampler" sandwich would be a more appropriate name. By the way, the restaurant also offers a meat sampler plate ($21.50). The sides are hit or miss. I've tried the baked beans, coleslaw, collard greens, green beans, and mac & cheese. My favorites are the baked beans and mac & cheese. They're delicious. The baked beans are smoky and comforting. The mac & cheese is made with traditional elbow macaroni. It looks fairly pedestrian, but they add an additional savory flavor or two (I can't put my finger on it) which makes it quite tasty. The collards and green beans are par for the course. The slaw I tried was disappointing. They serve a finely chopped, mayo-based slaw. It was nice and crunchy, but it lacked any sort of tangy or vinegary flavor that a good slaw should have. Maybe I just had a bad batch. Plates and sandwiches are served with big, yummy slices of buttered and grilled white bread. They have two sauces, a red sauce and a white sauce. The red sauce tastes like most of the red sauces you'd typically find at a Georgia barbecue joint. The white sauce is a sauce unique to Righteous 'Que. The label on the bottle says it's apple cider vinegar mixed with mayo and spices. I think both sauces are good. Service is generally speedy. Payments are handled via Square so receipts can automatically be emailed to you. Android and Apple Pay are accepted. As for catering, I enjoyed the lunch that Righteous 'Que catered at our office. We had pork, chicken, a few sides, salad, sweet and unsweet tea, lemonade, and cookies. This was a lunch for I guesstimate 50 employees. Most people seemed to like it. I can see why the place is empty..... Menu states BBQ plate but it's really a la carte. Never seen a "BBQ plate" that was like this. 8 oz of brisket and nothing else. Mac'n'cheese wasn't even cooked enough to melt the top cheese. You would think a BBQ joint would have a good mac'n'cheese...not the oily mess they serve. Normally I would say all BBQ taste the same but for me the taste was missing from my plate. The bake beans I feel like the bbq sauce was over powering and you can tell they had been sitting over the warmer for some time. My Mac and cheese was cheesy but bland to my liking. I did enjoy the brisket however but maybe that's where I will keep it at. Also everything seems to be À la cart so it can get pricey. Pretty darn good BBQ! This place is located in a shopping center. Easy to miss, look for the words "BBQ". I drove around because I was looking for the name. It was pretty empty on a Saturday. Me and 1 other customer dining in. I decided to order the chicken on a bun with coleslaw added. I asked for it chopped, which she said they could do, but it still came sliced. Go figure. The slaw doesn't come on the sandwich, I added that. I chose the macaroni and cheese as my side. So glad I did. They accept apple and android pay at the register too just FYI. The food came to the table about 3 minutes later. Super fast. I tried all three sauces, regular, spicy, and white sauce. Regular and Spicy are vinegar based but not too thin. The white sauce is mayo based with apple cider vinegar and was DELICIOUS. Omg I want that on french fries. BUT I know it was so fattening so I only drizzled a little on the sandwich. The chicken was moist and tender. Not dry at all like a lot of other bbq places. The macaroni and cheese was the BOMB. It was baked macaroni and cheese. Just like I like it. As someone coming from out of state it was a very interesting experience. Aside from the location being not too far from my hotel the environment was very welcoming. Employees were very helpful in making my decision. I chose to go with the pull pork sandwich and I gotta say the choice of sauce (white sauce) the employees recommended really hit the spot.
