It smells so good when you walk in. I'm hungry! The service was kind of slow. We were the only people in there at the time. When we finally got our food, it was very good. The pulled pork was our favorite. The serving was generous. I loved the mac & cheese, and the baked beans. They were super tasty. Server was very friendly and attentive. Overall, this was a good experience and I would eat here again.

Brisket worst ever. Like a cardboard brick. No flavor. Dry. Tough. Pricey. I've said it all. Why 85 characters?

Great bbq and sides. No complaints at all. The vinegar sauce is awesome. Pulled pork and collards is my fav.

I had the Cuban with Mac and cheese. Both were excellent. They have 4 different sauces and all were good.

Big Easy BBQ - Do Not Waste Your Money or Time Eating Here A…read morefew days ago, I watched a well-known BBQ show that offered a simple rule: if there's no smoke coming from a BBQ restaurant, keep driving. Today, I ignored that advice and regretted it. A friend and I decided to try Big Easy BBQ for lunch instead of visiting one of our usual favorites. After reading positive reviews, we drove more than 30 minutes to see what the hype was about. The first warning sign was the nearly empty dining room at lunchtime. The second was the complete lack of that unmistakable BBQ aroma. Despite both red flags, we stayed. My friend ordered the St. Louis ribs with sides, and I ordered the half chicken with two sides. When I noticed he had barely touched his ribs, he handed me a piece to try. The meat was tough, dry, and tasted as though it had been cooked well in advance and reheated. Unfortunately, my chicken was no better. It also seemed old and reheated rather than freshly prepared. For sides, I chose dirty rice and Cajun BBQ beans. Neither tasted particularly fresh. The dirty rice was acceptable at first but quickly lost its appeal, while the beans were merely average. Having lived in New Orleans for five years, I know what good Cajun and BBQ-inspired food should taste like. This wasn't it. The highlights of the meal were my iced tea and my friend's French fries. Service was equally disappointing. The server checked on us only in passing and showed little interest in our experience. When we requested takeout boxes for the food we barely ate, there was no inquiry about why our meals were largely untouched. We both took our leftovers home, though neither of us was enthusiastic about them. The lesson here is simple: online reviews should never outweigh what your eyes, nose, and instincts are telling you. A busy dining room, the smell of smoke, and trusted recommendations are often better indicators than a collection of glowing ratings. As a final note, my friend and I normally pay separately, but I felt responsible for suggesting this restaurant and paid for both meals. If paying for two disappointing lunches taught me anything, it's this: save your time and money, and eat somewhere else.

What makes great BBQ? Flavorful, smoky meat; tenderness; juiciness. It's rare to find places that…read morehave two of those qualities. Carne 250 has all three. In spades. My wife's family is from Dallas, TX, and my brother lives in Austin. So, I am no stranger to Texas BBQ. The center of Texas BBQ is brisket, where you either go big or go home. When I got to Sean's large, shiny and modern trailer, and ordered, he asked me whether I'd like it from the flat or point. I chose the point, for its succulence. He pulled out a whole brisket, sliced it in two between the sections, and cut a thick slice out of the point side. It had a beautiful smoke ring, and was the most tender and flavorful and juicy brisket either my wife or I had ever had. The Salt Lick, near Austin, TX was previously the undisputed champion, but no longer. We also had the pastrami, which is not something you normally see offered at BBQ places, though it is a natural fit. For those who haven't had it, Pastrami is corned beef that has been peppered on the outside and then smoked. It is a flavor bomb. Again, I got a choice of the flat or point, and it was so smoky, tender and juicy that we were giggling as we ate it. Top notch. We also tried a half rack of spare ribs. These too were meaty, smoky, juicy and so tender that the bones fell from the meat, and you had to make an effort to find the cartilage because it too was as tender as the meat. These had zero sauce on them, though you could squirt some on if you wanted to; but they didn't need it at all. We also got a horseshoe-shaped link of the home-made sausage. Made with jalapeno and cheddar, it was a bit too aggressively flavored for us. Certainly not bad, but I prefer a mellower, long-smoked sausage to this. Choices I did not try this week, but looked good, included pulled pork, thick-cut pork steaks, ancho slaw, and mac & queso. You can pre-order on the web site, or get there early on Saturdays, to get the full selection. The choices change each week, though I suspect that some things are staples. Check out their Facebook page for the weekly choices. I know I'll be back.

I also got a side order of greens, although, as the daughter of a GRITS (Girls Raised In The South), greens and Mac & cheese have to be next level. First, the chicken was crisp and juicy. It had flavor and I enjoyed it. The biscuit was fluffier than I thought it would be. Second, the greens; OMG the greens! whose Auntie made them because they were GOOOOOODDD! I wish I got the cornbread to dip in the pot likka. Definitely a 10 x 100! Now, why this got three stars - the ribs. They looked good in the pictures but they were an extremely small half slab. Fall off the bone - yes, but they had no seasoning, weren't smoked at all, and were dipped in a cheap watery bbq sauce. Not oven/smoker braised - dipped. I know it's a chain, but they should invest in a smoker. This was a the only thing I hated. Would I

I was here because my brother wanted to celebrate Father's Day and chose this as his place of choice. Nothing says Happy Father's Day like southern BBQ! Lol! My mom and I had questions, the wonderful young lady was nice and patient with us. You order at the line/register and they call your name to pickup your order. I ordered the Judge's Sampler (Leg + Thigh, Smoked Turkey Breast, Brisket, Basket of Fried Okra, Macaroni and Cheese, with Texas Toast, and an order of the 3 sides platter for my little one and I to split since I wanted to try other sides. I ordered the green beans, hush puppies, and additional macaroni and cheese. I also ordered a banana pudding to go. My food was great! From start to finish! My brisket was soooooooo tender! What did the man say, tendernism, and that's what the brisket gave! So did the chicken and turkey! The leg and thigh was seasoned perfectly, and the smoked turkey breast slice wasn't dry at all! It was packed full of flavor and the right balance of tenderness and flavor. It all paired very well with the Carolina Gold BBQ sauce. I'm a fan of mustard based/yellow sauce so I could be bias. The mac and cheese was good, not OMG, I'm going to smack my mama good, but good enough to want more. The green beans were good, the fried okra was too; both could use a tad more seasoning or maybe some more love since I felt like they were missing something super small. The horseradish sauce that comes with the okra did take the okra to another level in relation to taste, so truly no complaints. I was disappointed in the hush puppies since I like sweeter hush puppies, and I asked the young lady at the register were they sweet and she said, "Yes, kind of." Nothing sweet about them; the taste wasn't bad and they were good, yet not the taste I wanted or expected. Nothing against them. I ate the banana pudding when we got home and it was good, yet almost too sweet! I messed around and looked at the caloric count and let me tell you, DON'T if you're counting calories and working on your weight lol! Not bad. 7/10. Everyone ate their food and my mom loved her ribs so much, she bought two individual ribs to go. Minus the high chairs being filthy, the place was clean, real southern and BBQ like decor and layout. Everything I expected for a BBQ place anywhere in the south lol Oh lastly, the price was unbelievably affordable! I spent a total of $35 for all this food WITH taxes! I will be going back! 8.5/10

My fiancée was treating me to a post-birthday dinner, and I specifically wanted City Barbeque…read morebecause I had it a couple of months ago and was absolutely floored by how good it was. Unfortunately, this visit was a major letdown. We chose this location over the Blackmon Dr. one solely based on the health score -- this location was showing a 100 while the other had an 86. In hindsight, I wish we had gone back to the original spot. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt off. Every employee we encountered looked at us with visible disinterest, almost like our presence was an inconvenience -- and this was well before closing. We stood at the counter for about five minutes before anyone acknowledged us. The employee who eventually took our order was patient while we decided, but she spoke so quietly that it was hard to hear her. The biggest disappointment, though, was the food. It came out cold, which was surprising and frustrating. I know and love BBQ, and temperature plays a huge role in flavor. Even assuming all locations receive food from the same distributor, this meal tasted noticeably different -- and not in a good way. The cold temperature absolutely impacted the experience. To make matters worse, the condiment station was messy and unclean. When I picked up our food, I thanked the employee and wished him a good day, only to be completely ignored. That small interaction really summed up the overall lack of hospitality. We walked away extremely disappointed, especially given that this was meant to be a celebratory post-birthday meal. I will absolutely have City Barbeque again -- just not at this location.
