Great BBQ restaurant in Canton, this will be our go to in the area. Ribs had a nice little char on them which I like with great flavor. Sauces were also good themselves. Had the baked beans an Mac & cheese both very tasty. Each had a little spice to them which made you want more. Wow we got lucky finding this place. While traveling I got a hankering for ribs. The first place we went to had a line out the door and around the building. With a baby in tow, that was a no go. My wife was looking along our route for other bbq places and saw this place pop up. I guess it was ment to happen because this place was fantastic. Service was excellent and I believe family owned and operated. The staff refused to let me grab a broom to clean up after my daughter and took care of the small mess. But on to the part yall care about, the food! I had the rib plate I had been craving and my wife got the chopped chicken plate. The ribs were had one of the best smoked crusts I have ever had. The outside was almost crispy and had a great smoke ring, yet the meat was still as juicy as you could ever want. The chicken was also juicy and had a nice smoke flavor. The bbq sauces were a surprise, with an amazing white sauce that amped up the chicken very well and a sweet sauce that added some punch to the ribs. The sides were well prepared and seasoned well. The mac and cheese had a nice added pepper that I really liked. The broccoli salad was cold and refreshing. My wife ate the potato salad so fast I didn't get a chance to taste it so I guess that's a green flag for that. 10/10 great place. My better half and I were in Ellijay on July 4th to pick up some outdoor furniture we had ordered from a business. We wanted to have BBQ for lunch and decided to try Four 41 South BBQ in Canton. The restaurant is located a few miles off of I575. We found them on the end of a strip shopping center. Their smokers are located on the side of the building along with all their hardwood used for smoking all the delicious meats. Upon entry, we were greeted by several friendly smiling faces. You walk up to a counter and place your order. I told the server that this was our first visit to their BBQ restaurant and he patiently answered all our questions. My better half ordered the chopped pork sandwich special with Brunswick Stew as her side dish. I ordered the "Mr Potato Head" stuffed baked potato with Brisket as my protein. I ordered the brisket with a mixture of lean and fatty meat. This is a great option that it not offered at many BBQ restaurants. Both plates included their house made pickles and pickled onions. Their house made pickles are DELICIOUS and I am not a huge pickle fan. The drink service is self-serve and includes fountain soft drinks and sweet and unsweetened tea. I mixed the fountain lemonade with sweet and unsweetened tea to make an Arnold Palmer. Your plates are delivered table side by a friendly server. I mentioned to the server who took my order that I had read great things about their pimento cheese grits and that I would have to try them on our next visit. He kindly added a complimentary side of their cheese grits to my plate. WOW, what a great gesture. The pimento cheese grits are OFF the CHART good. They are the best pimento cheese grits and are the BEST thing I have ever tasted for grits. My loaded baked potato was so flipping delicious and the brisket was tender and flavorful. The chopped pork sandwich was flavorful and the Brunswick Stew was so delicious. It is chocked full of meat in a thick, richly spiced stew. There dessert offerings looked awesome But we will have to try the dessert on our next trip to Four 41 South BBQ as our meals were so filling. While we were eating our meal, Kevin, the owner of the restaurant came by our table to check on our meal and also went to each other table with diners to greet them. He is super nice and enthusiastic about BBQ. You need to jump in your car as soon as possible and drive to Four 41 South BBQ to enjoy some of the best BBQ in the southeastern US. read more

This little gem is family owned and ran. As soon as you get close, you start to smell the meat cooking. You walk up and place your order and then they bring it to you. We got the sampler platter and it had a little bit of everything on it. We got the cheesy potatoes and macaroni and cheese for our sides. I've had the brisket, the pulled pork, the ribs, the house made sausage, the turkey, the loaded baked potato, the pork belly, almost every side and the toffee crusted oatmeal cream pies! Everything is so bomb! There is not one thing I've had here that I wasn't happy with. The best spot for BBQ. This was my first time visiting the restaurant, based upon a friend's recommendation. The restaurant is located at the end of a small shopping center. The interior has the classic look of a local, southern barbecue restaurant. After dining there on a Friday evening, I was left with the impression that it's good, but not quite great. This was based upon a number of things we experienced that evening. First, I had been told that I should definitely try the mac & cheese. While I was waiting in line to order, I heard the cashier tell someone that they were out of mac & cheese. When it was time to order, I double checked and asked the cashier if there was any mac & cheese. She said she would double check. The cashier asked one of the cooks if there was any mac & cheese. He told her it would be another 30 minutes before it would be ready. It's difficult for me to understand how a barbecue restaurant could be completely out of mac & cheese at 6 PM on a Friday night. My second concern is the long wait times. After ordering our food, we waited around 35 minutes for the barbecue to be brought to our table. Looking around the restaurant, it appeared as though everyone was waiting a long time for their food. In terms of the food, it did taste good, but it wasn't good enough for me to consider returning or recommending the restaurant. We ordered the pork steak special with two sides. The pork steak was flavorful but too dry. There were bottles of what appeared to be barbecue sauce on the tables, but we later learned it was actually hot sauce or a very spicy version of barbecue sauce. I tried the potato salad and cheese grits being that there was no mac & cheese available. The sides actually tasted a little better than the barbecue. Your meal comes with either a small piece of cornbread or Texas toast. Similar to the pork steak, the cornbread was too dry. Finally, we were very surprised to learn that the restaurant closes at 8 PM on a Friday night. Maybe this is based upon location, and many restaurants close at 8 PM in and around Canton, but we were not certain. I found it a little disappointing, because I was going to order a beef brisket meal to go before leaving the restaurant, but I then found out they were already closed. At some point in time, I may consider coming back to try their pulled pork, beef brisket, or ribs. I simply would not go out of my way to visit this restaurant. Cheers read more

I love a good bbq spot, Canton has a great one here next to the Goodyear on Reinhardt called Four 41 South. Tucked on the end of the shopping plaza. If the smells of smoking meat doesn't draw you in. your curiosity should. The menu is very easy to select, pick your meat, pick your side, pay your bill. Eat in or carry out this location has the picnic table decor, stools and metal chairs. My go to was the chicken plate with slaw and Mac & cheese with bbq on the side. I love the flavor of the bbq sauce a little sweet with a big zing of spice. . My husband had the sausage, green beans ( smoked like my great grandma use to make) and slaw. you have to get over here and try this spot, the food is delicious . The place is small but it needs to be because it smells so darn good in there any bigger would ruin the experience. Its service is simple, go to counter and order and someone brings it to you. The bbq is amazing, I recommend the potato with the brisket. I usually can't eat a whole one but it was so darn good I devoured it without thinking. Got the pimento cheese grits as a side and kinda wish I got a larger size cause now I want more a day later and they are closed on Sundays. Best sauces they have are for sure the sweet one (tastes like KC style bbq) and the white sauce (the white sauce is not like normal Bama sauce. I wanna buy it cause it could be a sure fire million dollar dipping sauce on its own). If you like ground stone mustard the Carolina gold bbq sauce is your jam for sure. Only one I didn't like a lot was the spicy, it's more vinegar based and heavy on black pepper (maybe just this batch was like that) wish it was a lil more ketchup, lil sugar, honey, or something else sweet in it to give it a lil more depth and a hint of sweet to it. And needs something for a heat other than pepper. Next time I go I wanna try the ribs and sausage but I'm convinced they don't miss on anything. This has become one of my favorite BBQ joints in the area after finally trying it out. Loved the food - the chopped chicken, the sauces, green beans, pimento cheese grits. Love that they offer pickles and pickled onions which pair well with the meat. You get to choose either cornbread or Texas toast. Their variety of side options are better than other BBQ places. No...Naw...I can't. The brisket tasted like it was cooked last Saturday...dry and crumbly, and no flavor nor smoke. I picked through this trying to find and enjoy any resemblance of succulent meat...it wasn't giving. The pictures don't remotely capture the struggle of this meat. And look at that decrepit wing...overcooked and hard. That thing was fighting me...the skin was holding on for dear life. Georgia has some of the worst BBQ. Coming from Big Bob Gibson territory growing up in Decatur, AL, I'm a BBQ snob with a chip on my shoulder (North Alabama hickory BBQ and white sauce are rarely included in American BBQ cuisine lists!), so I'm tough on BBQ joints. This one has consistently delivered excellent food, and it's one of only two restaurants where my wife will eat the ribs because of how easily they fall off the bone. They also do a BBQ potato that's so good I even eat the potato skin my wife leaves behind. To top it all off, we always get our Thanksgiving turkey breast from here with the gravy, which is why I was SHOCKED to find that after four years of eating here I've not yet reviewed it! read more

My last review of 2022 goes to a very deserving Four 41 South BBQ. I've been hearing and reading on Yelp many good things about Four 41 South BBQ. So I needed to see for myself and give it a try. I must say, that everything I read and heard about them was true. The sliced brisket plate was amazing. I've never had brisket so soft and tender with an amazing but not overpowering smokiness. The bark was crunchy and full of flavor. And the pulled pork with their home made BBQ sauces ... it melts in your mouth. I had to sample all the home made sauces and went with the peach and sweet / sassy sauces. Amazing. Their white sauce was voted number 3 in the country! Sides are all home made right there. Mac and cheese - Creamy and dreamy Potato salad -Just like a Sunday picnic Baked Beans - Not to thick not to sweet. Just perfect Cole Slaw - Fresh, Crisp and couldn't get enough. Lol. I would say best BBQ I've had. And that's saying something when you live in Georgia. I'll definitely be back. And might do a catering as well. read more

Now this is real barbeque ! Four 41 South is an OTP hidden gem but not for long! This pit to plate bbq place represents all things Southern comfort foods and honestly, there's just little to no competition nearby. First, I have to address the fact that their specials are always creative. The current (and former) chef have developed recipes undreamed of, I'm always astounded at their uniqueness and ability to switch the menu regularly. It's rare to miss the previous special because they continue to outdo themselves. Secondly, love that their family-oriented. The wife, children, and fellow classmates are all involved in the business. The staff is very much close-knit and Kevin does a great job keeping the business connected to the community whether that's with his support of the local precinct, collaborating with local food brands on a menu item, or just keeping us up to date via social media. I appreciate that we're aware of what's next because they remain active. Lastly, their branding is great aside from social media. The restaurant's Southern, retro theme is subtle but I love it! They're quite busy. That said, if you want to get your teeth in a special come early because they usually sell out and bring your appetite because some portions are collosal. My only criticism is wait times can be lengthy, it's not every time but I've waited as long as 20 minutes. They have apologized and acknowledged long waits. Despite them being a few years in the business, they're still working on streamlining. I find that the waits are worth it but if you're pressed for time, order ahead maybe 30 minutes rather than 10-15 for pickup orders. I'm excited for the good things to come at Four 41 South! I'd love to attend a smoking class, and I can't wait for the breakfast menu to become a regular thing. I'm sure they'll outgrow their first location or at least find a second in a few short years. I preface this review with we are from Texas and my husband cooks amazing brisket, so we're bias. THAT BEING SAID - this is a very cute little place. Like a lot of bbq places, there's a line to get your food and then you pick your own table. It's a decent size place, but not very big. It is space accommodating, so there aren't too many tables squeezed into the smallish space. Their brisket is not terrible, but a little on the drier side (we like ours with more fat parts mixed in and juicy). Their ribs are alright. The Mac and cheese, grits & potato salad are all really tasty, but they all are a little heavy on the pepper. The staff is SUPER friendly. For knowing that we're Texans, the server had a great sense of humor and gave us these cute little stickers that said "you're from Texas, no one cares". Cuz I'm sure a lot of Texans say this place is mediocre bbq in comparison (cuz Texas does have the best). If you're not a snobby Texan, I'm sure this bbq will be amazing for you cuz it wasn't too low on our scale (and that's probably pretty high for normal non-Texas scales)! read more

I am a BBQ connoisseur. I travel always seeking the best BBQ anywhere, and I give my original and truthful food reviews. I'd heard about Four 41 South BBQ for quite sometime. I drove by once just to see where it was several months ago, but then I forgot about it, until today. Today was the first time I've been here to enjoy a meal here, and enjoy it I did. I ordered a standard pork plate. 1/3 lbs of very nicely prepared smoked pork. It was very lean. I began the experience with the baked beans. I've always thought my wife's baked beans were truly unbeatable, but these beans truly may rival hers. Though I'll never tell her. Next, I went for the potato salad. This was very interesting. At first I wasn't sure I liked them, but it quickly turned my opinion. I think I wasn't prepared for this truly unique experience. Besides the standard potato's, and mustard there was something else. I think it was a good dash of pepper and pickle juice. I like them. I'll have them again. I followed the salad with the palette cleansing purple onions and homemade dill pickles, in anticipation of the pork BBQ. Nice! The pork was perfectly smoked, tender with no fat or gristle. The sauce I chose was their standard sweet sauce. It was smooth. I finished with the Texas toast and a sweet tea. Very nice. Very nice. Will return. read more

Solid bbq place and certainly the top choice in the northern burbs. I had takeout from them during the pandemic and was lukewarm about the food at the time mostly bc the brisket wasn't quite up to snuff imo. This time we stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and had a much better experience. We caught them early ish right before the rush and while it did take them some time to acknowledge and then take our order, we did appreciate the knowledge displayed when sharing my wife has a gluten allergy. They were able to call out exactly what she couldn't have and also requested a change of gloves for the kitchen staff putting the order together. We opted for a full on sampler platter to split and the portion was pretty generous. We also appreciated being able to split the 2 pint sized sides into smaller sizes and ultimately went with potato salad, collards and baked beans. All 3 were quite good and the kids especially loved the potato salad. Meats wise the ribs really stood out. Brisket was a #2 as it was a bit more fatty than we would've preferred but neither side asked or confirmed so it's whatever. Pulled chicken and pork were good but not necessarily exceptional. Really liked the sauce dispenser and appreciated the unique flavors (the peach based sauce really stood out). All in all this place is legit and we'd gladly go back. read more

This is a great local BBQ spot. I've tried the pork, brisket, mac and cheese, potatoe salad, cheese grits, and banana pudding. All the sides are top notch! As for the meat, the pork was pretty good. It's served a little dry but the complimentary sauces are really nice. Especially the white BBQ sauce. I can't get enough of that sauce. The last time I went I had the brisket plate and was given the option of ordering it fat or lean. I did 50/50 which was recommended. The fatty bits were quite nice but overall it felt a little dry. If I ordered it again I would try all fat. Does this place compete with the elite BBQ of Austin? Not really but it's still good and priced fairly. Service was extremely good. Very friendly staff. Seems like everyone working wanted to be there. The ambiance and vibe could be better. I'm not an interior designer, so I can't give great feedback but it feels like a restaurant that is new and recently put together compared to an old rugged bbq spot that has a unique vibe.
