This location is truly a hidden gem tucked next to TitleMax across from Captain D's. As soon as we walked in, we were immediately welcomed and seated. We decided to sit outside on the patio, which was a nice vibe. They had traditional Spanish music playing inside, which really added to the experience, and the overall atmosphere was very clean and welcoming. The restrooms were also clean, which I always appreciate. We started with the guacamole fresco and it was amazing, super fresh and exactly how I like it. I ordered the chicken quesadilla for $12 along with a sparkling water, and my partner got the lengua tacos with a side of refried beans. Not to mention, the presentation of these dishes were very satisfying to look at. Our food came out in under 10 minutes, which honestly surprised us in the best way! The staff checked on us consistently and made sure everything was good. My quesadilla came out hot and delicious, and the portions were very generous. Both of us left full and happy, and for the price, it was more than worth it. I'd recommend this place to any crowd really whether that be families, a casual lunch, a gathering, or even a date spot. This will definitely be my go-to Mexican restaurant, and next time I come back I absolutely want to try the quesabirria and the churros.

Crunchy and not greasy... they were addictive! My horchata was perfect with cinnamon on top. My daughter thought the strawberry agua fresca was bland. We ordered and our food was brought out in stages in quick succession. Two ladies in our party ordered cups of soup but they received bowls. The server opened up to her mistake but didn't offer to correct it. One liked the soup and the other not at all. My brother in law enjoyed his grouper tacos. The guacamole was so incredibly good. The Asado De Boda was a big bowl of delicious stew. The rice was dry but flavorful. If you combine the two, it's amazing. The refried beans were really, really food, too!! It was hit and miss. My hubby and I agreed we probably won't go back as there are other Mexican restaurants that are less expensive with comparable food. La Cantina on Main was good but not memorable.

My husband ordered carne asada and he said "Wow- this is cooked perfectly and that's hard to do"! The tortillas were authentic and the service great. The horchata was refreshing and delightful. I can't wait to go back and try the Pollo Mole & Huevos Rancheros.

We ordered kids chicken nuggets, kids taco, grilled veggie quesadilla, and two other meals that their names escape me but all was delicious. I sat on the main level which had mostly booths (for 4 & 2 persons), half booths, bar seats, and a few tables. The interior was classy, but the ambiance was not. The mood was ruined by whiny acoustic music, probably picked by the staff and not for the customers. I can normally tune it out, but the uncharacteristic F*bombs coming from the speakers were a mood killer. And while waiting for my meal I heard the following exchange from the kitchen: "Your late!" "Are you going to fire me? Please send me home!" The hostile attitudes in the kitchen was unfortunately reflected in the meal. I ordered the fish and chips, and the fries were nicely cooked. The crust on the fish also looked good. But the fish inside was watery and unpleasant. It was also topped with a mass of cilantro sprigs, which did not pair with the flavors. I managed to scrape them all off. The fish was served with vinegar, ketchup, and (missing) tartar sauce. The friendly and attentive waitress was quick to correct the missing sauce, although it did take awhile. My meal also came with a side of slaw that would have been outstanding if the kitchen hadn't made a misstep of loading it with too much salt. The other seasonings in the slaw were excellent and unique and the addition of red onions was great, but sadly ruined by the saltiness. At the end of my meal I visited their modern and stylish restrooms. I'd arrived just after 5PM and on this weekday there were only a few patrons. So the stylish furnishing of the restroom were marred by the mess I encountered in there. Based on the number of employees compared to patrons, there wasn't an excuse for not cleaning that bathroom. I've seen truckstop restrooms that weren't that nasty.

No one in town charges more for a beer than this place. For example, I enjoy local IPAs and Creature Comforts (Athens) is everywhere. I can go to several other stops in town and pay less for a 16 oz can or pour of this beer. Compared to another decent stop down the street, three roses is almost 30% more. My wife says one of the wines she likes is a little less than other stops, so that's good. But other drink prices tend to be on the high side as well, but most in town have higher liquor prices. That adds up if you like to frequent a place. Hence, we stopped frequenting. Overall, I like the decor and as noted, the food is decent. The upstairs is better than the downstairs but I'm glad they have the downstairs for some occasion when they could get busy. As for the Tavern / entertainment element, I've never seen any live music but they have several TVs. Not sure this would be my top choice to watch a game but it would work in a pinch if the other places were too busy or noisy.
