I believe I have eaten the best carnitas outside Guadalajara MX. The pork was so flavorful and moist. The refried beans were hearty and not like the runny beans served at so many other Mexican restaurants. They were absolutely the best refried beans I have eaten in a LONG time. Keep in mind that this place is definitely upscale. Not the typical mx restaurant. The grouper tacos were excellent. Fresh tasting, not fishy at all. The person who ate them complained about how good they were because he over ate... We just laughed. "No one made you eat everything." The portions of my carnitas were very generous and I was able to take half of them home to enjoy the next day. Both diners who had the Volcanes raved about the delicious food. One person had avocado slices while the second had refried beans. Note, the stuffed jalapeno peppers will light your mouth on fire. Loved them but for those not into heat, beware. My friend Kike from Queretero recently visited and ate here and highly recommended it so we came in for the first time tonight. All I can say is WOW! Starting with the salsa and chips all the way to dessert, everything is made IN HOUSE and fresh. We started with the cheese dip and it was great! The quality of ingredients is so obvious. I had the ribeye volcanes with street corn. My wife had the street tacos. Everything was better than expected! The steak was the most tender I've ever had in a Mexican restaurant. We met the owner Ramone and he was super kind and helpful for our first visit. We came on a Friday night and they even had live music that was excellent! I highly recommend La Cantina! This was my third visit here and I have raved about my two past lunch experiences. This time I struggled with this rating. If the owner would have given us a credit and seem to truly care and want to make right I would have rated a 2. This time we shared steak fajitas on one side and chicken on the other. The fajita delivery is hot and we were warned but placement was half off the table. The plating is potentially dangerous as the skillet and wood underneath appear as one because they are both black and a strange rectangular design with barely any wood exposed. My brother in law attempted to nudge the fajitas back on the table and burned his finger. I mentioned to the server he had burned his finger and asked for a bandage or burn cream and he never came back. I believe he was nervous and perhaps unsure what to do. Our sides to fajitas were never delivered. We often had no drinks. This was a packed house on Saturday evening so it happens. Steak fajitas were by far the worst thing I've had here. The birria tacos are fantastic. All lunch items have been lovely. Enchiladas great but fajitas were chewy, poor texture and zero flavor. My mother in law was perplexed that no cheese was offered for fajitas but I didn't see that as odd actually. The cheese dip was good had a great texture and flavor. The owner did come over and apologize about the fact that outer tortillas arrived 5 minutes after fajitas and that our sides never arrived. He removed the sides from our bill. I mentioned the burn and he seemed concerned but again nothing happened. We didn't push. Owner seemed really great and honestly I hope this was a fluke. read more

We visited La Cantina on Main recently and, as usual, the food was very good! Our server, Kaleigh (spelled KALEIGH), was friendly and attentive, and overall, the service was solid. I ordered one of their cocktail specials -- the Pink Pony Club. While it was tasty, it came in an extremely small cocktail glass and was $12. I only got about five or six sips out of it, and for that price, I would have expected a taller glass or at least more volume. I get that part of the price may be for the atmosphere, but it still felt a little overpriced. La Cantina has definitely become more about the "scene" lately. When it first opened, it felt more warm and welcoming. We used to really appreciate when the owners or managers would check in with each table -- it made the experience feel more personal. This time, around 5 PM on a Saturday, it felt like the focus was more on taking videos of the bartenders making drinks than connecting with guests. While that's fine, we did miss the hospitality and charm that used to set this place apart. That said, we still enjoy coming here for special occasions. The food isn't quite as amazing as it was in the beginning, but it's still really good, and the staff are always friendly. I found the ambience hard to pin down. Nice comfortable seating and lighting thrown off by a music track from a house rave. That said, the food was great. The 1 star reviews are spot on. Nothing has changed. Terrible service. Terrible food. Tasted like old, reheated food. Tortillas fell apart because they were so old and crusty. Beans and rice were lukewarm. I previously visited this restaurant for the delicious food, even though everything was overpriced. I mean, I am willing to pay $150 (without ordering alcohol) if the food is delicious. But something has since changed - I don't know what happened. This was my FINAL visit, no doubt. The server gave us truly awful service, so rude and never checked on us, didn't bring our drinks despite numerous requests, (by the way I'm talking about agua frescas and ice tea which should be brought before the food - I'm not talking about alcoholic beverages). I didn't catch her name but she had dark brown, thick, curly long past shoulder length hair and seemed young, about 20s(?). We were a family of 4 so we were pretty cramped at our table, we mentioned this and she told us we could move the tables together and then walked away immediately (ummm didn't stay to help us or guide us?). People who got there 20 mins after us were served drinks right away and got their food before us (different server). Whereas our server never checked on us so we kept having to ask the other server and random attendants to help us - asked them to remember our drinks, bring our check, bring our tortillas, etc. She literally did not come back to check on us. Our food was disgusting. The meat tasted OLD and reheated. All the food tasted like leftovers heated up in the microwave. The rice was lukewarm, I was concerned about eating it as rice should be eaten freshly made. I could not believe we were all sitting there with our food and still didn't have our drinks and kept having to remind her. After what seemed like forever, we finally got our drinks and they were the wrong drinks. The server was so rude - clearly she was having a personal bad day but gosh, it ruined our experience at the restaurant. And yes, we told the server how disgusting the food tasted. No response, didn't seem to care. We will never ever come back. Please read the 1, 2 and 3 star reviews carefully and notice how we are all having similar experiences. We wasted our money on those meals and we STILL tipped her even though service was awful and any gratuity was undeserved (no exaggeration, it was that bad). read more

I had the pleasure of getting an invite to attend the soft opening for the new La Cantina on Main in downtown Canton Ga. There were quite a few people for a soft opening and a very extensive menu with many intriguing items. You could feel the energy and excitement in the air from all the employees. The new younger ones seemed a little nervous but very egar to preform. The more experienced veterans were mentoring while showing lots of confidence and poise. After a few well crafted cocktails it was time do delve into the menu. The Chicharron De Ribeye was amazing and a big hit. Deep fried Ribeye chunks served over a delicious homemade guacamole. The master of the mains was the mini carnitas tacos. Best anywhere. Tender and juicy shredded pork flavored to melt in your mouth. Just wow! Tacos Brascados Cantineros, specifically the Gobernador (Governor) - was my personal favorite. Tender grilled shrimp with melted cheese sprinkled with some sautéed poblano and Serrano peppers. OH and the side of 2 jalapeño peppers wrapped in bacon and filled with the houses homemade cheese is something you just have to experience for yourself. Trying as much of the menu as I could there was no way I could attempt dessert. lol. But rest assured next trip back it will be high on my list. Very inviting and feels lively. Now the food: we had the birria tacos and chipotle cauliflower. A side of esquites (Mexican street corn). Thr Birria tacos were awesome. The consumé was tasty. We dined here last night and the experience was an absolute disaster from start to finish. It took forever just to place our order, and somehow even longer for the food to arrive. I ordered an appetizer--something that is supposed to come out before the main courses--but it didn't show up until 15 minutes AFTER the rest of our party had already been served their order. I had to remind the waiter, and when it finally arrived, it was completely mediocre and not worth the wait. My husband ordered the $50 ribeye special, only for it to arrive noticeably overcooked. To make matters worse, the table next to us was apparently part of the ownership, and they received nonstop attention: drinks constantly refilled, multiple plates of food brought out, and prompt service. Meanwhile, our table was essentially ignored. No one checked on us, asked if we were ready to order, or even bothered to refill our drinks. For the prices this place charges, the service should be exceptional--not nonexistent. This was a frustrating, overpriced experience, and no, we will not be returning! To make matters worse, when the waitress did finally come to settle up the bill, she did not bring a bill and only shoved her phone in front of my husband's face with the only options of a tip being 20, 25 or 35% tip! We were excited to try out another restaurant downtown and wanted mexican. I can sum our experience up in one word - bland. We went at a time when the place was empty and we were seated next to the bar where the waitresses were all standing and talking loudly. This continued for almost our entire time there. Our waitress seemed irritated we were there and not happy to be working. We ordered the guacamole, chicken enchiladas, and the beef enchiladas. I will start with the chips and salsa..bland - no salt and no heat to the salsa. The guac came and it was literally just a mashed up avocado - no salt, no onions, nothing else..so again bland. Next the mains arrived and with the chicken enchiladas one of the sides we got was bacon wrapped stuffed jalapenos. The stuffed jalapenos were burnt black and inedible. The chicken in the enchiladas was completely dry and flavorless - again no seasoning. The beef enchiladas were also dry and bland. I did ask for some hot sauce and they only had tabasco or a habanero one. I selected the habanero and it was so strong it completely overpowered anything i ate with it (I like heat but also like flavor). Overall an expensive and disappointing experience. Food was pretty good, but the menu is confusing. Explanations would help considering this isn't your everyday Mexican restaurant menu. Forgodsakes, if someone asks for to-go boxes bring lids for the condiments and a bag, people. This is common sense 101. Train your staff a bit better and start using plates that hold the food in place instead of creating a pool of sauce that pours onto the table....and eventually the guests clothing. We enjoyed dinner last night at La Cantina on Main with an old friend we hadn't visited with for well over a year. This was a great choice and we had a great experience from start to finish. The chips and salsa were delectable with crispy chips and delicious salsa with a medium heat and excellent flavor. I enjoyed an enchilada entree and the others had the chicken quesadilla. The food was presented hot and was very delicious. My wife reported that the quesadilla didn't seem to have a lot of cheese like a traditional dish and was more like a fajita. with the choice of flour or corn tortilla they both chose flour. The service was great with our needs looked after promptly. Parking was easy on the curb, being a weeknight. Definitely on my list for a return visit! read more

Two large margaritas, two entrees...with tip, $100. We had the salmon entree and the Carne de Puerco con Calabacita y Elote. Salmon was OK but the veggies and rice were really good. The pork dish was served with 3 tortillas but I wasn't sure if they were for dipping or putting the pork dish in them because the Carne de Puerco was very runny and the meat was minimal. We had Sunday lunch during their soft opening. Very nice atmosphere- contemporary styling within those old walls. The bar is large and seats plenty. Our server, Megan was a sweetheart. Despite being a new establishment, she knew the menu and made suggestions. She was very personable and professional. She had 4 other tables yet managed to check on us every few minutes. Margaritas are very good! Not overly tart. I had the Carne Asada. VERY tasty and tender. Medium is very juicy- not overcooked. Probably one of the best I have eaten. It came with a sausage cut (for a lack of the proper name) , charro beans, onions, and a slice of grilled panela cheese. My wife had birria tacos that were also delicious. Grandkids had street taco's and chicken with veggies. For kids that are picky eaters, they cleaned their plates. It is a little pricey, but the atmosphere, food quality and service are first rate. Well worth the price. Not the same standard Mexican fare usually offered at some other establishments. No Speedy Gonzolas offerings. LOL. Probably the best Mexican food that I have had since moving here from Texas. It is not Tex-Mex, but more traditional Mexican. The outside skirt steak tacos were on point.
