Such a cute brunch spot. Both the food and decor were spot on…read more I had the shrimp & grits in a low country sauce (there's 3 different sauce options), and it was delicious & plentiful. My husband had the country fried steak & eggs, and he thought it also tasted great. We opted for Southern fare on this visit, but we are looking forward to going back soon & trying something different. There were excellent options on the specials board, such as Smoked Salmon & Eggs & a Goats Cheese omelette, which are more typical of what we would usually eat. The only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars is because I would love to see them add some barista style coffees!

Staff was friendly and despite being a sunny summer Saturday the place wasn't busy. The staff was few in number, which slowed service a little, but we weren't in a hurry and didn't find the waits a problem. I had the Country Fried Steak with a side of sausage patties. Those patties are nearly the size of hamburger patties and are house made with plenty of flavor and a hint of heat. The steak was served with sausage gravy that had a strong twang (not the sourness of vinegar, but possibly buttermilk?). The flavor was interesting at first, but by the end of the meal that sour note became unpleasant. The biscuits were of excellent quality and I stole some of my wife's strawberry compote to finish them off. The generous egg serving was cooked over-medium which was perfect for my tastes. The breakfast potatoes weren't crisp and large chunks of potato and green peppers. I ate a few, but they were a bit stodgy for my liking and I didn't finish them. My wife's pancakes had a hint of sweetness to them and she didn't even have to use the maple syrup with them. We really enjoyed our visit and want to come back and experience the lunch and dinner menu and the wonderful decor has put it on our list of places to bring and impress out-of-town guests.

(The city allows you to walk around with your drink) The owner was extremely rude to them telling them to "get out". You could clearly tell they didn't know you could do that. While exploring the main strip, I came across Dot's Fine Wine and Craft. I was hoping they offered wine flights (they do, but only on Thursdays), so instead, I opted for a tasting. They have four wines on tap that rotate regularly--usually two whites and two reds, if I recall correctly. The ones available that day weren't quite my personal taste, but the experience was still great thanks to the welcoming staff. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. The shop itself has a laid-back, cozy vibe with plenty of space to sip and explore. Their selection of wines and specialty beers is impressive--and for those just browsing, there's no pressure, just good conversation and even better recommendations. Now, let me give credit where it's due--Todd, the owner, is a force of nature. My fiancée is very particular about her wine, but once Todd started talking, she was sold. He makes the rounds, connecting with every guest, and his deep knowledge and passion for wine is infectious. Between him, his wife, and lone employee who was shaking and moving the entire time we were there, they've created an experience that's polished, personal, and memorable. If I had to make one suggestion, it would be to add another wine slushie machine. Every time I went for one, it was still chilling--though in their defense, the place was buzzing with activity due to a downtown festival. Dot's isn't just a wine store--it's a destination. They also offer: Thirsty Thursday Wine Flights (4 for $15, waived with a $45 purchase) Monthly Wine Club Private Tastings & Cellar Consulting Wedding & Event Bar Services Wine and Beer Growlers Rotating Frozen Sangrias, Frosé & Wine-Based Cocktails Charcuterie, Wine Gifts & Accessories I've visited plenty of wine shops across the state, but Dot's truly stands out. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or just curious, it's absolutely worth the trip. You'll likely leave with more than just a bottle--you'll leave with a great experience.

A very charming unassuming little boutique store front with some tee shirts and souvenirs when you first walk in. Then you whisper the magic password and the gentleman escorts you through a narrow little doorway, a vestibule and door then opens to a perfectly recreated 1920's prohibition speakeasy. The motif is perfect from vintage art work on the wall to the hanging chandeliers and the big leather couches and chairs all in a very dark lighting. There is one way glass so you can see whoever comes into the store ( police or significant other) but they can't see you! Lol. And you can't leave through the front where you came in. You are guided to the back of the establishment to the back door which lets out into a narrow gangway then to the alley. I think Al Capone himself was going to jump out at me. lol. The bartenders/ mixologists further raise your experience by providing enjoyable banter and well made cocktails. Espresso Martini's and a Donut Raspberry Cheesecake were the drinks and dessert of choice and both were amazing. If you wind up going I suggest for you gals, a flapper dress with the beads and sequins with a cocoon coat and some tee strap heels. Guys your fanciest fedora and some two tone lace up oxfords. Either way you're gonna have a Roaring 20's great time. Let me know if you're interested and I'll tell the password or yiu you have dinner upstairs at The Roof, tell them you want the password for The Door.

"There's something magical about rooftops. You feel like you're in 'Mary Poppins."…read moreGeorge Clarke There really is something special about being on a rooftop on a perfect summer evening, and it's great to have it right in downtown Sugar Hill. I would like to say I planned the perfect date, but as some of the best things in life, this was just an impromptu visit to cap off an already great evening. Outside of being on the rooftop, the bar itself is upscale yet approachable, service was fast and friendly. Being a bit of a self engrandized home bartender I'm a bit critical when out of my home lab, but their Smoked Old Fashioned wasn't bad. ("Wasn't bad" really means very good.") While I don't love the prices and hate paying a cover charge, when you throw in live music, a great vibe, and a view, I can't really complain. The owner made an announcement that whoever tipped the band $10 would get a free drink, and since most drinks were over $15 I thought that was cool on many levels. Will definitely be back to The Rooftop!

We walked around and finally ran into a waitress who told us to sit anywhere we wished inside or outside. The only area festive was inside a closed igloo and no heaters were on outdoors which was just a tad too cool for me despite the super nice weather that day. It would have been so to sit outside but without the warmth of the heaters we headed inside. We placed our order and explained we were just there for a pre-dinner drink and wanted to check out the venue so we didn't leave our tab open but we were quickly served the fabulous taking drinks on their menu(s). The Old Fashioned was on the regular menu and the Russian was on their seasonal tabletop menu. Server was very nice and took photos for some ladies we met. The only reason I can't give them a 5 star is they claim they are big on hospitality but yet we were not acknowledged upon arrival. Many restaurants and even some retail stores have a way to ensure they say hello/welcome immediately when you enter and without a hostess - the mindset should be that the bar or wait staff have a way to immediately say hello or welcome so those who have never been feel welcomed as well as those who frequently come. It would be nice to have a more festive decor for the holidays but that didn't affect my review; just a statement to say that the entire Sugar Hill area was pumping and themed with the holiday spirit then we walked in the only area decorated was not even accessible nor was it offered as an option to enjoy.
