It was the festival that got us to Jasper. The festival was in full swing with all the locals enjoying music..entertainment ..shopping at vendor booths and sitting in the warming sun. Local eateries were getting much business, and after googling and reading about LC Taco Bar, that is where we want to eat, taking full advantage of the vegan write-up. We got seated inside and quickly helped with our orders. Oopsie to all the vegans out there. The salsa is made with chicken stock and was not shared as such until it was too late. Thankfully, they made good vegan Enchiladas. My meal was a new salad offering that was called salada Azteca. It was filled with mushrooms, chicken, nice plumpy shrimp, and a simple lime type dressing that fits just right for the salad. Everyone had a good time except that pesky fly kept our attention and made the eating experience borderline authentic. Ah, but it is an OPEN bar, and bar flies get really buzzing noisy. Restroom? This restaurant is located in downtown Jasper. It has both indoor and outdoor dining and you can even have a cocktail in the blocked off street between the buildings. I had the Burrito Catrin (chicken). The chicken was grilled and the burrito was fresh and flavorful. My wife had the chicken enchiladas and she enjoyed them. I like the tortilla chips but not a big fan of their salsa. Drinks are fi but the cocktails are on the expensive side. Service was good. read more

I ordered the veggie quesadilla which was delicious. My dad ordered a burrito, which was huge, but so good he ate almost every bite! Have been wanting to try this place out since we've been spending a bit of time up in Jasper working on my mother-in-laws home. Went for cinco de Mayo and was kinda disappointed:/ The regular menu wasn't available but our waiter was excellent and still let us order a skinny margarita (which they weren't offering that day) the food we ordered was just ok. I understand it was a holiday and they were set up for mass quantities but just wasn't as good as I guess I had imagined. This place is a great addition to Jasper! The food is not authentic Mexican but still decent. Lots of menu options and open until 9 pm! My plantains were cooked to perfection. Great service, welcoming environment with music bumping - good vibe. I took a star off because I didn't think the ingredients were as fresh granted my server did mention that the kitchen has been short staffed in the pandemic. What an awesome addition to Jasper's downtown restaurant scene! They just opened today (8/7/21) and I would totally post a picture of my delicious food, but was so excited about it I ate it all before I had the chance! To start, they serve the most delicious complimentary chips and salsa. The menu has awesome variety and everything is really flavorful. I got the Bistec Mexicano - the steak was tender with just a touch of spice and I loved the refried beans + rice that came with. I also had a bite of the chicken mole tacos, which were ridiculously on point as well. The servers were all really friendly and made sure we always had everything we needed. We went to LC Taco Bar on a Tuesday for lunch. Their main floor seating was full so we sat at the bar. Which my option is the best seat in the house. While having a beer and a delicious La Catrina margarita we ordered the roasted guacamole and got the house salsa. The salsa was fresh with just the right amount of heat and the roasted guacamole was delicious with the freshest of ingredients. Both are bright with flavor. The guacamole was a large portion so we decided to order one thing od tacos, the Barria tacos with a side of rice. While were waiting for our food, the owner came buy and made is a specialty drink on the house. When the Barria came it came with 3 tacos, roasted onion and jalapeño, and the side rice. The rice was so flavorful, light and fluffy. The Barria tacos were perfectly cooked which was great with the roasted jalapeño. I highly recommend this place and I definitely will be back. read more

We came in for dinner at 6pm on a Wednesday. When we arrived we were able to be seated immediately, but the restaurant filled up pretty quickly after that. We ordered and the food and drinks came out extremely quickly, and the service was prompt. However, the price (I.e. over $10 for guac) and the quality don't make this a 5-star place. While I have no major complaints on the flavors, nothing really stood out in the food that we ordered. And while it was the summer and the door to the entrance was being opened and closed frequently, there were flies swarming the entire time we were eating which was pretty unpleasant. read more

All in all, a good La Catrina experience for a weekday night...the food, as always, was on point as has been our experience at the other two locations were have eaten at (one of which we frequent every other week). That being said, the area that could use improvement is the service. Sure, everyone was nice and polite which is great, but the focus, organization and attention to detail was lacking. Several patrons left their tables or bar seats and their empty glasses, napkins and crumbs from their meals would remain untouched/uncleaned for quite some time during a time when the restaurant wasn't particularly slammed. A look behind the bar area (which is open to view from the sidewalk via a large garage door) was strewn with used metal mixing containers and things overall looked unkempt. Again, attention to detail and organization was lacking. Anyway, you get the picture...there were a few other things that caught my eye, but I don't want to get too down on the place. The best part about all of this though is that it's easily fixable as the food is already great! The FOH Manager just needs to dig in a bit and pay more attention to the flow of the restaurant, pitch in a bit to help their staff and once that's done, make the rounds to the customers to check in with them and everything will be improved. The location is already a gold mine as it is, but can be made so much better and more profitable with just a little bit extra. read more

My wife and I stopped by for lunch today. My wife had a bowl and added shrimp. I had the street tacos. We were both happy with the size of the portions. The street tacos were full lf flavor, but certainly not too spicy. The ingredients were fresh and prepared perfectly. Even though it was warm outside we opted to eat outside at one of the picnic tables shaded by an umbrella. The service was as enjoyable as the food. My Lady and I went on Taco Tuesday for The $4.99 special on Street tacos and $4.99 Margaritas. The deal was Two tacos for $4.99 we ordered 3 orders of steak street Tacos and one order of the tex Mex tacos, also $4.99. We didn't know about the $4.99 Margaritas until after we ordered our margaritas and paid. It would of been nice if the waitress would of i formed us about the $4.99 Margaritas special. We end up paying Too prices for our Margaritas.The tacos came on two plates with 3 steak tacos on each. I ordered 4 steak tacos so we had to sort them between us.They could of put my 4 on one plate and her two on one plate or even put her two steaks and two tex Mex on one plate. Im not sure who wasn't paying attention, the waitress or the cook? The steak tacos were delicious , She didn't like the Tex Mex very much. It looked like ground beef on taco shells ??? Nothing special. The margaritas had almost no tequila in them. I never even felt a head change at 20oz. My lady had 20 oz and 12 oz and no head change at all. So they are severely watered down. We wont return , as there all many other great Mexican restaurants around this area that give us our moneys worth. I had been to the LC Taco Bar many times before my last visit and always had good food and service. It appears to be under new management and all of the original staff are gone. The service was agonizingly slow. When you tell your waitress that you need a few minutes to decide on your order, that doesn't mean wait ten minutes and take two other tables orders before you return. We we sitting outside and got tired of waiting for our food so I went inside to ask what was going on and our waitress said it would be another 15 minutes without checking. We had already been waiting 30 minutes and three other tables that came in after us had been served. Apparently she did talk to the manager who came out and asked if there was a problem with our food. Umm, yeah, as you can see, we don't have yet. He told us it would be only a few minutes and offered us a discount. When the food came it was bland and luke warm. The manager did give us a marginal discount. It will be a while before I go there again. I hope they get it together. read more

We just went for lunch today. The Margarita's were amazing, all freshly made and they had the skinny ones too. I had the 4 enchiladas that were delicious. My husband had the Birria tacos which were great and the size of the burrito my MIL got was crazy! It was shrimp, steak and chicken and she said it was also very good. That white sauce they bring with the chips was addicting. We just moved here and I would put Tacos And Margaritas right up there with our favorite Mexican restaurant in Atlanta. Our bill was $53 for 3 entrees, two margaritas and one coke. I have seen mixed reviews about the beef and I think it has to do with their spices. All of their food is very flavorful so if you like regular Mexican food their food may be to much. We loved it! Very authentic! read more

We were given menus that had dried sauce splattered on them. I asked the server if I could get a Cadillac Margarita and she replied "I have no idea what that is." Didn't ask what it was or whether she could check with the bartender. I told her I'd take a Margarita de la Casa, Mas Fuerte, which was on the menu. She told me the Mas Fuerte was not a Margarita de la Casa, even though it was on the menu under Margaritas de la casa. I asked her what it was, she told me it was a Texas Margarita. I told her I'd take a cucumber jalapeño margarita, large. Eighteen dollars and it was so weak I didn't even get a buzz. The salsa tasted like it was canned diced tomatoes. My wife, who is from Mexico, ordered enchiladas suizas, they were made with chicken with tomatoes and no cheese. That is not an enchilada suiza. I ordered the enchiladas Catrina, the speciality, it was tasteless and the carne asada was tough and dried out. We didn't even finish the meal because it was some of the worst Mexican food we've ever had. There are at least three Mexican restaurants in Jasper that are far better than this place, skip it. read more
