Front porch

Awesome place we found on our way to the mountains. Awesome pulled pork, amazing ribs, great portions. And while this isn't necessarily bbq, the best fried okra I've ever had. Light, crispy, hot. Staff was super nice and accommodating. So good we made a trip back the same week!

Stacks of logs for smoking.

My husband & I both got the sampler platter with ribs, pulled pork, and beef. The meat and the Brunswick stew were delicious. The mac & cheese and tater salad were just ok. The banana pudding was yummy. The service was fast &friendly. I loved the rustic and vintage decor.

The horrible pulled pork we spent 60.00 on. If you want to get sick this is the place to go.

The food was absolutely horrible. The chopped pork had multiple bone fragments. The pork was terrible the whole family got sick. We called the owner and complained to which she cussed us out.

This is a random piece of art on the wall... I thought it was especially funny, because "David" is the name of my grandmother's new husband.

I went to Amos's BBQ on December 27th, 2020. I am happy to report that the porch cat is still alive and kicking- well not kicking... He's really friendly! So, definitely give him a little pat in a scratch behind the ears and maybe save a little token of bbq to give to him as you leave. I had the pork plate with fried okra and their Brunswick stew. I wasn't displeased with the pulled pork. I would've liked it to have been more smoky, but it was perfectly tender and wonderfully moist. There Carolina style sauce is pretty great too! It isn't too spicy and it's not too sweet, it's right there in between... A good mild sauce. The portion for their single side of okra is kind of ridiculous. I shared mine with my dad and it was as if he had ordered an entire order of okra himself once we split them between our two plates. My dad had the pulled pork barbecue sandwich and commented that he wished it was smokier as well. The Brunswick stew was actually really interesting. It wasn't that I really, really liked it. It was just that the flavor was, initially, hard to place. Don't get me wrong- it was really good! It's just, if your used to the peppery or sweet variety- well, this is neither! There was a spiciness to it and it was smokier than their smoked meat on its own, but the most Interesting/confusing part of the flavors, was that it had a sulfur-like flavor to it. When I first took a bite, my initial reaction was to say: " Huh... It's got a different flavor to it... It reminds me of the Fourth of July." Of course, after sampling the stew a few more times, I realized that it had a flavor in there that reminds me precisely of when I'm setting off fireworks... It's not as though it smells like sulfur. It just had an odd-but-good palette that added dimension to its flavor. Definitely a must try. I love the atmosphere and the old-fashioned wood stove. They actually do burn wood in the stove, at least in the winter! As to Covid-19 measures, the staff were wearing gloves and masks, seating was limited, and social distancing was politely enforced. While I won't give it a solid five because the smoke in this just isn't there in the meat, the stew, the atmosphere, and the generous portions will bring us back!

We had Ribs , with okra , beans , fries , tater salad and slaw !!!

Amo's BBQ was literally so good and tasty. The vibe was perfect , we got here right on time , there was no line we sat in corner by the fire pit, super cozy. We def recommend to come through and eat

Brisket Sammy with fresh homemade fries!

When you envision a remote, but not so out of the way quintessential Georgia BBQ joint, wafting the aroma of blue smoke, set to a backdrop of a place time seems to have forgotten, this is it! The price was really reasonable, food was pretty good, and more importantly it just felt good to eat simple BBQ without all the glitz and glam, the way it was intended! Only advice would be to pump some bluegrass music over a loud speaker and bottle and sell your sauce and this place would be line out the door!

Choate BBQ is new and so therefore the whole restaurant felt very clean and their BBQ and sides were definitely on point. We got the double brisket and ribs and got 6 sides of which all was absolutely spectacular. The brisket was fire but the ribs were simply phenomenal. For dessert we got the peach cobbler with ice cream and banana pudding. Lunch was so delicious we bought an extra brisket to bring home for our sons. Our waitress Jodi was very friendly and helpful throughout our meal and the service was fantastic. The BBQ sauces were very delicious and we found that all three were great separate and even good mixed together. Parking was very easy and I am happy to say Choate BBQ does BBQ right and is a great place to dine if you are visiting Gibbs Garden or are in the area. 5 solid Stars and two thumbs up!

Plenty of seating with a friendship table in the middle and a good looking bar. Service with an attitude! A good attitude, service was on point and upfront about all the food and what you were getting. We were told the brisket was done (all out) but had the trimmings left. Wasn't my wife's favorite, but I did enjoy what she didn't finish. Great Bbq sauce also, with the sweet and mean being my fave. If you are reading this stop on by and enjoy this place.

It's Friday night and my daughter wanted wings. Okay, so did I. I looked on Yelp and thank goodness…read moreI did! I had no idea Dominic's has wings. So in I came.. I hadn't been inside since it was Martin's General Store. This place is hopping! You walk in and the 1950s music immediately transports you to simpler times. The smell of wood fired pizza smacks you in the face. Go to the right and to the right is the order counter. They have menus to peruse and homemade ice cream. There's a beverage cooler to choose from as well. They offer free water as well and teas. The young guy behind the counter was exuberant and friendly. He answered all my questions joyfully. I love it! The dining room is quaint and cozy. There's one very clean bathroom. To pick up a to-go order, you come back and watch the cooks work their magic. Pretty fun! Several other customers we're raving about the food. I saw multiple people get ice cream either in a dish or a pint to take home. I was tempted but I make my own so I didn't. It's also the new year and I'm trying to be good. Now I'm home and oh my word- These are the BEST wings since I went to Dandy Inn in Shiloh, IL back in 2004!!!!!! Huge, meaty, saucy and they fall off the bone. I'm in Heaven. Wow. Just wow! Support this small business- you won't be disappointed!

My girlfriend had the gyro salad which was also great, and our daughter had the kids cheese pizza. Everything came out quick and was delicious, and the homemade ice cream made a phenomenal dessert. This pains me to review since I really wanted to LOVE this place...and I may still when I order…read moresomething else. Please don't let my thoughts deter you from trying SB and take a look at my other reviews other reviews of BBQ, etc before deciding if my opinion is even valid...lots of them out there good, bad, and ugly. There have been a lot of businesses at this location in our 23 years in the area - I had high expectations of SB as a follower on Facebook and word of mouth reviews. My flight schedule unfortunately didn't allow me to try it until yesterday. The Brisket Tacos were highly touted on so I ordered those on the run...the reviews suggested SB had hit a home run with Brisket, North Alabama White Sauce, and Slaw (cheese...meh)...I had high hopes. Positives * Super Friendly - both the Cashier and Chef greeted me and were eager to serve * Clean - from the parking lot to the bathroom it's a place I was comfortable going Negatives * Brisket - COLD, WAY DRY, and WAY TOO SALTY. If i'd had this on it's own I wouldn't have been able to eat it. I actually didn't even eat the last two Tacos. * Slaw - The Cashier made a point to praise it (I'd seen the same thing on FB), but it had no chance to overcome the SALTINESS of the Brisket. It was like it wasn't even there. * Sauce - The "White Sauce" was widely praised, but I honestly couldn't taste it above the Brisket. North Alabama White Sauce was created by Big Bob Gibson for Chicken (and sometimes IMHO) Pork - this sauce never stood a chance against Brisket. Much like the Slaw it was like it wasn't even there. I added some Dukes today and that calmed things down a bit... * Cheese - Shredded Cheese from a Bag on 3 Brisket Tacos for $16 - Sorry, go "Whole Hog" or Taco Bell. It added nothing to the Flavor Profile (I actually hate using that phrase) and was really the only thing that stood a chance against the SALTINESS of the Brisket. Other * Limited Seating - don't expect to "Eat In" unless you want to Tailgate in the Parking Lot (there was a work crew doing just that). I only counted a few stools inside * Limited Hours - catering is their business (I get that as my family owned a Country Store), but 1100-1400 on a few days a week doesn't build a following. Finally * I'm only reviewing the Brisket Tacos here - other options may be much better...Brisket requires a Strong Counter (Sauce, Slaw, etc.) and the Tacos just didn't add up. Other Options may be much better and I hope they are...I will certainly try them based on the reception of the Staff. * I was surprised at the Total when it came up and thought it was an Auto-Tip for To Go Orders...I grew up working a Pull-Register at my Family's Country Store so Totals pop up quickly and something was amiss. Turns out there was a 4% Surcharge added to my Receipt (don't know if that was for the Credit Card or not, but I was never informed)...either raise your prices, blame Biden (lots of blame there...lol), or disclose this up front. Please don't let this review discourage you from trying SB - I will likely go back at some point and try something more traditional - brisket with Red Sauce or maybe the Pork. Go in with your eyes open and understand you're going to get fast, friendly service....just not my style.
