An evening out with my incredible friends found us at the Feather's Edge Vineyards in Ball Ground, Georgia. The live band was playing a genre of mixed folk and soft pop music to make it a wonderful evening of endless chatter, great music, and delicious wine. The two young ladies who helped us were Monica and Gigi, and they were there whenever we needed them but they did not pester us during the live music. We snacked on a delicious cheese and cracker platter that had different choices of cheese, stoneground crackers, and some fresh grapes and melon. We sang along to the music and walked down memory lane.... I did find out that you could bring your own food, but you cannot bring your own alcohol. The venue in and of itself was wonderful, completely outside and surrounded by beautiful trees and fresh air. This particular night the temperature was around 75 and there was not a cloud in the sky. They do have a yellow tabby cat that walks around among the guests looking for someone to scratch her between the ears. There was a small craft shop called Wild Cat on a Wing that had handcrafted items for sale, but we spent no time in the shop as we were there for the music and the wine. I am so glad that we found this treasure of a vineyard and will make sure that we visit there often and bring our friends and introduce them to this wonderful experience.

    Beautiful little stage for performances.

What an awesome winery tucked into the trees in Ball Ground. Their wine is among the best we have had for a small local winery. The cheese plate was delicious. Everyone working here could not be nicer. The gift shop with artists here in the United States was a rewarding experience with a purchase for my sister's new home with many beautiful items to choose from. When we arrived James Morgun was singing and was awesome! Georgia Back Porch Band followed him another great band. Unfortunately the weather turned for the worse with severe thunderstorms and electricity was off and on so no more entertainment for us as we decided to head home. I have read many don't like the $5 cover charge but really!? The musicians were great and not sure if or how they get paid but $5 for sure didn't break the bank and we are retired. This tucked away small winery won our hearts for the first time going there and for sure we will return!

It's was a great Saturday morning/afternoon. Decided for a drive around looking for fresh laid eggs in the northern Cherokee County area. Where we stumbled on a great nursery visit at Scottsdale Farms. Like we unwittingly do every spring (April) while we toured the beautiful greenery and blossoming colorful cavalcade of floral wonders. We DID make a purchase of two plants... once we finished the egg hunt was back on m, we tend to support the private hen houses that are selling their eggs. Always go for the more robust exotic type hens. The yolk is much more yellower. Drove up to Ball Ground to be smack dab in the middle of some fest. Too damned busy. No parking spots. Onward to drive out of the village stumbled upon this beaut. We went in to see what offerings were made. We opted for two tasting flights (4 one oz.) for 10 bucks and small cheese platter and two sandwiches. The back patio was so nice and then there were two more other bar like coverings which provided plenty of shelter from the elements and the sun. Along came this country singer who swooned us beat he could. It was so nice and peaceful. Allowed for us to talk and reconnect. I tend to aim for the red wines, I wish I took a picture of the menu. But be aware this vineyard has its own varietals which is on the menu and they are also Coupled in conjunction with other local wineries to promote each other. All were nicely done. We told many of our friends who like to visit vineyards, about meeting us here one day. Until then I will be sipping on this one red, until this happens. Cheers...

We have been to Feathers Edge several times and have always loved their selection of wine. Their sweet wines are amazing and if you couple that with live music in the weekends during the summer months, you are bound to have a great day.

The wine was great and the atmosphere was wonderful! You can walk trails to see the vineyards and a small pond. They also have a very large outdoor seating area and it seems like 2 places for live music. We saw some nice live music on the top of the outdoor seating area but they also have some kind of coliseum style seating with a stage so I'm assuming they have live music there as well. Will definitely be back!

We were leaving Ballground, on our way back home and saw a sign advertising for a wine tasting! Well duh!! You must always do the wine tastings!!!! We followed the signs and it took us to this beautiful, majestik cabin- like location. It was full of local Artistry and this fantastic electric fiddler and amazing wine. I of course love the sweet wine and my favorite was the blueberry. So I had to bring a bottle home. The owner was very patient very friendly and even gave us a history of the winery itself. And I definitely will be returning for the local musicians :-)

Great winery, art and furniture gallery and entertainment venue! Their Rose' of the Cherokee is the best Rose' I have ever tasted. Their Chief Red and Sliding Rock White are great as well.

Enjoyed wine and atmosphere. My first time I was little nervous at first. It I finally relaxed and met a couple and enjoyed my evening listening to live music and wine helped my anxiety

Our interaction with Brent and his mom (Miss Mary) were great, and I will say, I think it was an extra treat to experience the hospitality of Miss Mary!! Clearly, Brent didn't fall far from the tree (no pun intended)! We booked the 'Rustic Cabin Suite' which was their lowest price room available at the time, but it was well furnished, comfortable, quiet, and perfect for a place to stay for two. It was quiet, peaceful, and tranquil. Don't forget to take advantage of the Carin winery next door, and I hear (we missed out) the lodge offers an add on steak dinner (plan in advance) that sounds divine, and in that environment, will be on our list for our next visit! The lodge itself is well-appointed with a beautiful seating/gathering/eating area downstairs. Breakfast was great with a menu of French toast and apple bake, sausage, fresh fruit, orange juice and some of the best flavored coffee I've had in a LONG time (bourbon infused pecan). Beautiful grounds, beautiful people (Brent, Miss Mary, and fellow guests) and you can't go wrong with a stay at the beautiful Bent Tree Lodge and Vineyard!!

Retreat to a cozy bed & breakfast nestled in the North Georgia Mountains that offers a hot breakfast and a day exploring wine. The main house/lodge boasts a beautiful living space with towering fireplace, lounge area, and tables for the morning's complimentary hot breakfast. The morning we were there they had a blueberry French toast bake with compote blueberries, a sweet cream cheese icing, and paired with fruit and sausage. I got to see one of the rooms, The Garden room, that has a swing bed outside to take in the winery views! Behind the lodge is the Cairn View Winery, where we stayed above the tasting room in the Gibbs Suite. A large room where you open to an opulent bathroom with two vanities, a large walk-in shower, and the best dual soaker tub for relaxing. But, the centerpiece of the room is the large comfy king bed, floral accent pillow, gorgeous green accent wall and decor! It screams garden. Plus, you can walk out the door and right into the founders and members den to watch the winery action below. The den is decked out in cow patterns, dark leather, and is plush and inviting. Don't forget the snacks! All snacks, cookies, water and soda in the room are complimentary to overnight guests.

While exploring the main strip, I came across Dot's Fine Wine and Craft. I was hoping they offered wine flights (they do, but only on Thursdays), so instead, I opted for a tasting. They have four wines on tap that rotate regularly--usually two whites and two reds, if I recall correctly. The ones available that day weren't quite my personal taste, but the experience was still great thanks to the welcoming staff. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. The shop itself has a laid-back, cozy vibe with plenty of space to sip and explore. Their selection of wines and specialty beers is impressive--and for those just browsing, there's no pressure, just good conversation and even better recommendations. Now, let me give credit where it's due--Todd, the owner, is a force of nature. My fiancée is very particular about her wine, but once Todd started talking, she was sold. He makes the rounds, connecting with every guest, and his deep knowledge and passion for wine is infectious. Between him, his wife, and lone employee who was shaking and moving the entire time we were there, they've created an experience that's polished, personal, and memorable. If I had to make one suggestion, it would be to add another wine slushie machine. Every time I went for one, it was still chilling--though in their defense, the place was buzzing with activity due to a downtown festival. Dot's isn't just a wine store--it's a destination. They also offer: Thirsty Thursday Wine Flights (4 for $15, waived with a $45 purchase) Monthly Wine Club Private Tastings & Cellar Consulting Wedding & Event Bar Services Wine and Beer Growlers Rotating Frozen Sangrias, Frosé & Wine-Based Cocktails Charcuterie, Wine Gifts & Accessories I've visited plenty of wine shops across the state, but Dot's truly stands out. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or just curious, it's absolutely worth the trip. You'll likely leave with more than just a bottle--you'll leave with a great experience.

This is a bit of a smaller place, and the interior doesn't fit too many people. There is a patio outside though and you can walk around outside near the vines. I think the most difficult part was getting here and the parking situation. The way to get here was an extremely winding and twisting road. It was pretty hard to drive, but most roads to vineyards in North Georgia are like that. However, I did think this was a little harder to navigate and drive to than others I have been to, though. The most important part is the wine. We got a Groupon deal for 2 premium wine tastings (pick 5) and a souvenir glass. We tried the: -Sauvignon Blanc: Flavors of fresh cut grass, melons, and herbs. Definitely a good one if you are a Sauvignon Blanc fan like I am! -Gewurztraminer: Gardenia and Jamaican allspice. This is the most unique one I tried with a very interesting spice flavor to it. -Sangiovese: Red with fruity flavors of strawberry, cherry, raisin, and spice. Medium-bodied. -Collage: Bordeaux blend with black cherry, raspberry, vanilla, and chocolate. -Trebonnay: Semi-sweet with pear, mango, and citrus. Most of the wines here are all dry. But there is one semi-sweet wine, and 3 sweet wines. I enjoyed all the ones I tried! I really would recommend all of them. After the tasting, I also got a glass of Pickens Pink, a sweet blush wine with cherry-berry flavors. I thought it was a sweet, refreshing finish to the tasting. For parking, there are only 3 or 4 parking spots and the rest of the cars were parallel parked on a very small section of the road. There was no space available when we got there, so we actually parked somewhere across the street and walked there, which I'm not sure if we were allowed to do. The lady working here was very friendly and pretty quick to fill our next tasting. However, she did accidentally overcharge us since we already paid on Groupon and she charged us again. She did reverse it though, so not too big of a deal. Sharp Mountain is a cool place to check out if you are looking for a new vineyard to try in North Georgia! I really liked looking at all the vines since all the rows are marked with what kind of wine those grapes produce. There's also a nice mountain backdrop to the vineyard which gives it a nice view.
