We ordered a flight of wine to try multiple options. The servers were kind and patient when we walked in with our family crew. Chardonnay they included was described perfectly- buttery and light. That was very tasty! The syrah and the merlot/cab blend my wife and I were not a fan of. The red blend is their best seller, which left us both a little disappointed actually. FOR PARENTS: Beyond the wine, we have read that this place is kid friendly and we would disagree. It on a hill so there isn't space for them to run around and have fun while parents can enjoy their drinks. We popped in here after a nearby hike for a glass (ish :)) of wine and to relax. We split both a red and white flight, and enjoyed most of the wines we tried. The woman who poured our wine was friendly and happy to share info on not only the wines, but other hikes in the area which we appreciated! My bf was very intrigued by the goats but I'm not much on farm animals so I did not wander over haha. I wish they'd had more snacks, we were quite hungry but made do with some meat/cheese snacks and some chips. Visited from Miami and we love wines. The winery is beautiful. The staff is pleasant. As per the wine, I was not a fan with their recommendation. "The Romantics" smells and tastes vinegary and wasn't pleasant to my palate. I tried really hard to drink it because it was a pricey bottle $75 but I just could not. It was super busy inside for a Wednesday afternoon (given it was that awkward week between Christmas and New Years that no one knows what is going on during LOL) and since we had the pup, we decided to sit outside. The view was GORGEOUS outside, and during golden hour/sunset, it was a beautiful way to end the year. If this is your first visit, I definitely recommend trying different wines with their tasting menu - I like dry reds so I opted for the Paint the Town Red - fruit forward dry reds. I had to come back! I love the views here so much. It's beautiful! I came and got one glass of wine and it was their Amber Fields Chardonnay. It's so crisp and refreshing. It's perfect to enjoy outside during the summer when you want wine but don't necessarily want something heavy like a red wine. We bought a bottle to take home! We like most wines we tried, we just hope they had like a better experience to know more of the wines you are trying, as we experienced it we had to get up make a line get the wines we chose for the tasting and the lady who was very nice will explain it and pour it and you will take your 3 wines to your table, by the time we started to try them we didn't remember which was what out if what she explained. I will really love if they will have the option of the tasting while they explain everything I think it will help to enjoy more each wine. We really loved the outdoor area with the tables where you can do your picnic (please make sure you take everything you need as there are not many option for food on the location). We also liked that its kids and dog friendly so the whole family could come together and the kids really loved the goat barn area where they could pet them and all! It was Wednesday, so we decided to make it a Wine Wednesday and check out the Fainting Goat Vineyards. Located in Jasper GA in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. This winery is adorable. Two outside seating areas, both with stunning Mountain View's. An indoor tasting room, gift shop, nice tables and chairs, striking fireplace and huge windows to view from. After sampling a few, it was decided to go with the Social Goat. A robust red but very smooth. High in alcohol content but lots of flavor. These wineries can get very busy on the weekends especially in the fall with all the gorgeous colors the trees and mountains have to offer. So it was nice to go during midweek. Very few people made it more enjoyable. Definitely worth stopping in for a glass or two. It's on my short list to visit again. Note: If you're a dog lover or have pets, it is pet friendly. read more

We arrived on a Thursday afternoon to meet friends. There were plenty of tables and chairs outside, some with umbrellas, for us to choose from. We settled in at one of many that had a spectacular view of the mountains. We'd packed a small picnic style lunch to enjoy. So while my one friend set that up, I went upstairs to decide on a wine. After learning a bit about the flights, I decided on a fruity one. Blueberry was my favorite. We then came back to get a bottle of the dessert wine. It was strong, but flavorful. We had one that was infused with brandy. Yum! Because it was a weekday afternoon, there was no crowd to contend with. Our kids played with the goats and walked around the woods, exploring. It was within earshot, so we were comfortable to let them play. I'm glad to have found this winery and will come back to try more flavors! read more

The view was fabulous!! We tried the "taste the rainbow", delicious and sweet. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the view of the mountains and the goats! The only thing I can remotely say about the vineyard was that they had live music playing inside and it was so loud that we couldn't even hear the gal that was helping us. All in all, we will definitely be making another trip here soon! Also to note, easy walk into the building. Oh the view the view. Surprisingly the drive to the vineyard was gradual even though you are up overlooking the mountains. The wine is fine but it is all about the vista. It is quant with the goats, which supposedly fainted in the heat adds to the charm. Lovely place for a picnic with tables and comfy chairs. Live music on the weekends. I had the crowd pleaser flight (about $11). Three glasses with a mix of whites and reds. The flights are pre-selected, so even though I was interested in the Cab I went with this flight since it was a variety. As usual, I preferred the red Malbec. Grapes are from other regions as well. COVID 19 Review This is why I appreciate Yelp. Based on another's review, I knew in advance that the winery is COVID-compliant. And that's important to me. While the staff is masked, some shtunky patrons -- the kind with defiant expressions and questionable dental care -- were not. But they were in the minority. Thank you, everyone else. The winery has adapted tastings for the pandemic. Buy wine at the bar -- four tastes for $10 -- and carry the cups out to the adjoining balcony. You might snap a photo of the menu for a description of what you're drinking. Note that payment is 'touchless'; no cash. Credit cards only. I generally prefer robust reds, but not so much here. We bought a bottle of their Amber Fields Chardonnay, "oak aged with warm butter aroma and tropical fruit notes." $32 and delish. As we've come to do, we brought a picnic lunch and ate at a large table facing the mountains. As I admired the set-up, a staffer packed up the vacated tables, which apparently were there for yesterday's harvest luncheon. She commented about other places to eat, but all I saw were small tables under an overhang (they were all occupied and relatively close) and wooden picnic tables -- the kind with backless benches -- down the hill. Perhaps there's other seating. Thursday was surprisingly busy. (We visit wineries weekdays to avoid crowds during COVID.) I suspect Mondays -- they're open, while other wineries aren't -- may be quieter. read more

Sunday July 19, 2020 When people speak of fabled Georgia Highland vineyards, this place should be regaled as one of top boutique wineries. Super tranquil and breathtaking views of the lowlands and surrounding mountains this vineyard sits at 2200 ft on the boarder of the Chattahoochee National Forest. Of course there was a pen of fainting Goats too named Ronnie and Reagan and their grownup kids, Dolley and Mamie, who were not fainting and guarded by friendly looking white Pyrenees dogs. When we entered, relaxing live music greeted our ears sung by an old troubadour on his guitar---occasionally, the goats would join the chorus. Our little one was enjoying her time with the goats. The owner of these vineyard is also part owner Athens-based Creature Comforts Brewery, and as a result there were a few selections of their canned beer here. Presently, no food is being served. Judging by the names of their wine this winery is also very patriotic: 1812, Patriot, Republic, Old Glory, Independence, Revere, Liberty, you get the picture. We opted to split a bottle of their 1812--a red blend of Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot/Malbec -- and GOLD MEDAL winner. The wine was excellent. While it was a hot day, well into the 90s in the lowlands, it felt cooler up here, and was in the lower 80s. Perhaps not the best day to enjoy a robust red wine as the one we opened (1812) nevertheless a fabulous sip. There is also a fancy little shop which sells soap, t-shirts, and lotion. What a beautiful vineyard! This is definitely one of my favorites in north Georgia. There is plenty of parking, plenty of seating, and a gorgeous view. The vineyards are well kept and they actually do have goats on property you can peak at, hence the name. The wine flights are a great value and the service was quick and everyone was friendly. They also kept clean bathrooms which is awesome considering how busy the place gets. We visited the winery on a Friday. There flights are predetermined so you are limited to what they decide you can taste. We are red wine drinkers. They list 7 red wines on their website for sale to include 4 estate grown wines which interested us. Unfortunately they only allow you to taste or buy by the glass 2 non estate wines. All others are only bottle purchase only. Sorry, I'm not paying $70+ for a wine you won't let me taste. The server was not very knowledgeable about the wine or winery. When we asked questions she had to find someone to answer the question. This happened numerous times during our time there. That knowledgeable individual never bothered to come out and meet with us. Such a cute little mom and pop vineyard nestled up in the Georgia mountains! The only slight complaint I had was we came in on a Sunday afternoon and they had no food. I was told they ran out of cheese plates (I guess they make a certain amount days before and when they run out that's it) so do NOT come hungry like I did. I hiked Amicalola Falls before visiting and figured wine & snacks were the perfect reward. This establishment is doing construction on site but there are still plenty of parking spots. This is a super chic winery. I love the goats on the property and Great Pyrenees dogs who protect them! The wine was good, we got the sweet talker trio and it wasn't overly sweet.
