    Tasting room

My friend and I came to Grapes and Ladders to check out their tasting room since it was brand new. We met the owner who told us they just opened up the tasting room back in October 2020. We did a tasting of three wines in their tasting room, which was a nice, quaint ambiance with decorative paintings and merchandise. The Chardonnay was very crisp and clear, and the Merlot was decent, but belonged to Horse Run Winery. The rose was excellent and my friend and I bought a bottle of the rose wine to share out on the outdoor patio which has a beautiful view of the vineyard and the mountains. It was very relaxing and peaceful and we enjoyed ourselves very much! This is a nice little wine tasting room in Ellijay, GA and I would recommend anyone who is visiting Ellijay, GA for the weekend to stop by and check it out! It is worth the price and the time!!

Open everyday (perfect for people like me that are visiting in the middle of the week for a random event and wants something to do) or the perfect date night.. Service was perfect: friendly and knowledgeable. Order at the counter and then find your seat. PLENTY of options for seating depending on your mood AND, if they have the space open or not. Food options are limited during the week but during the weekend, they have a full menu. I had a charcuterie board that was hardy and full of options. I also had a red wine flight that was perfect for the cold evening. Then there was the sunset. Oh the sunset.. ugh just perfect with the French jazzy music and pure tranquil atmosphere. I absolutely loved this place. I was told they have live music during the weekend and have most of the areas open as well but since it was Tuesday, it was limited. They also have a private event space. I only wish I lived near by, this would be a regular spot for me!

The situation felt mismanaged and could have been resolved with clearer communication and better verification before refusing service. Unfortunately, it impacted the overall guest experience enough that we chose to leave. Hoping this constructive feedback helps improve consistency and service moving forward.

There are kids books near the fireplace as well, in the indoor seating area, full of windows and ample seating overlooking the gorgeous views. We sat on the elevated screened porch (which has a beautiful view of the vineyards) with a few wine flights and our pup. We played Uno with our kids for a bit and then they tossed a baseball down in the grass below. It was a relaxing, tech free day with no complaints for anyone. Loved it. It is clearly a go-to spot for locals, as there were many people conducting remote work from the space as well. I think it's telling that people feel "at home" here. Regarding the wine, we had great recommendations from the owner and liked all that we sampled. My husband's favorite was the Chardonnay and mine the house Riesling, which we purchased a bottle of to bring home.

It was super busy inside for a Wednesday afternoon (given it was that awkward week between Christmas and New Years that no one knows what is going on during LOL) and since we had the pup, we decided to sit outside. The view was GORGEOUS outside, and during golden hour/sunset, it was a beautiful way to end the year. If this is your first visit, I definitely recommend trying different wines with their tasting menu - I like dry reds so I opted for the Paint the Town Red - fruit forward dry reds. They also have many other tasting menu options and a long wine menu to choose from. Can't wait for my next North Georgia trip to stop in for more red vino!

The added bonus is that we were allowed to bring food because they are limited in their offerings. We were able to bring the wedding cake supplied by Alpines bakery in Woodstock. Check for yourself it's. Beautiful view of the valley and a great conversational piece with the house situated across the way. We are also entertained by live music of some country and rock. Over all a good day to wine!

I ended up buying a bottle and a Merlot off their library selection. Would definitely be back!
