Well, I never met a beer I didn't drink. And down it goes". - Norm Peterson, Cheers…read more I'm not a beer snob. I'm as ok with a tall boy PBR as I am with a craft IPA. With that being said, when I do check out a new brewery, I am a bit more critical. RockSolid Brewing is indeed rock solid when it comes to its beers. While there were no real standouts, they were all easy to drink and enjoyable. The Linger Longer Lager was crisp and clean, but lacked some depth. The Beez Knees was a very easy to drink blond ale. Phenomena was a very decent IPA. My favorite beer of this visit was the Summer of The Cicada shandy, a tasty wheat beer and lemonade brew. The brewery is big and fairly spartan and could benefit from a makeover. Service was great and super friendly. Great place to hang out if your hanging out in Ball Ground.

We ordered food at Ball Ground Burger Bus although there are other options and you can certainly bring your own food too. It's totally ok to eat here just don't make a mess. Nicole and I both tried the Bohemian Hazy which looked great but for me could have been a tad more hoppy (perhaps dry hop the recipe a little more?). We enjoyed the local art on the walls and all the activities that this Brewery sets up for locals on nearly each day of the week. I love that it attracts runner with a Humpday 5k! Now that is awesome! Had a nice time here.

We'd hike to the orchard and knew we had to check it out-- we were not disappointed! The staff gave us excellent suggestions for what was on tap. We ended up going with a couple of flights because it all sounded too good! The prices are great here and the establishment features indoor and outdoor seating, including a rooftop area with beautiful views! You can also find little games littered around the building. If you're craving a bite to eat there's a food truck parked out front that I can't say enough good things about! An absolute must see if you're in the area.

There were musicians setting up their stuff getting ready to perform. All in all it was a lovely experience in the blue ridge mountains.

All the wines I tasted were pretty darn good but what made this 5 stars for me wasn't the wine itself but everything else that came along with it. Service was great. Wine tasting allowed me to pick a wine I liked, so I ordered a glass to enjoy outside and the outdoor space reminded me of wine country on the Central Coast of California. Beautiful outdoor space, super comfortable and great live music. Although I want to try all the wineries in the area, I will definitely be sure to stop by this one again.

We also ordered wine with crackers and cheese, but I was disappointed with the presentation. The scenery and atmosphere were enjoyable, but the food presentation and service could definitely be improved.

There was live music inside, creating a cool and relaxed atmosphere, and everyone we met was incredibly kind. My wife mentioned that her favorite wines are Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc, and the staff immediately offered her two great options to taste. She ended up choosing the Sauvignon Blanc and enjoyed every sip. We sat outside under the covered area along the building and took in the beautiful view of the vines -- such a peaceful setting and perfect for entertaining or just unwinding. Although we saw a food truck on the way in, we didn't try it, but we did notice a family enjoying a picnic, which was a nice touch since you can bring your own food.

It was a bit chilly to sit outdoors and since we had the pup in tow, we sat in the covered patio, although it basically felt like indoors. Super dog friendly! We ordered a few snacks to nibble on while we sipped on our wine flights. Overall, it was a bit loud from the indoor live music, but otherwise, it was a rowdy fun time and great way to start our wine tour! There wasn't one wine that stood out from the rest but loved that a flight of 1 oz pours of 4 different wines of our choice was only $10 (may have increased since our visit in the fall a couple years ago). But definitely recommend as a stop if you're in Ellijay checking out wineries!

While exploring the main strip, I came across Dot's Fine Wine and Craft. I was hoping they offered wine flights (they do, but only on Thursdays), so instead, I opted for a tasting. They have four wines on tap that rotate regularly--usually two whites and two reds, if I recall correctly. The ones available that day weren't quite my personal taste, but the experience was still great thanks to the welcoming staff. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. The shop itself has a laid-back, cozy vibe with plenty of space to sip and explore. Their selection of wines and specialty beers is impressive--and for those just browsing, there's no pressure, just good conversation and even better recommendations. Now, let me give credit where it's due--Todd, the owner, is a force of nature. My fiancée is very particular about her wine, but once Todd started talking, she was sold. He makes the rounds, connecting with every guest, and his deep knowledge and passion for wine is infectious. Between him, his wife, and lone employee who was shaking and moving the entire time we were there, they've created an experience that's polished, personal, and memorable. If I had to make one suggestion, it would be to add another wine slushie machine. Every time I went for one, it was still chilling--though in their defense, the place was buzzing with activity due to a downtown festival. Dot's isn't just a wine store--it's a destination. They also offer: Thirsty Thursday Wine Flights (4 for $15, waived with a $45 purchase) Monthly Wine Club Private Tastings & Cellar Consulting Wedding & Event Bar Services Wine and Beer Growlers Rotating Frozen Sangrias, Frosé & Wine-Based Cocktails Charcuterie, Wine Gifts & Accessories I've visited plenty of wine shops across the state, but Dot's truly stands out. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or just curious, it's absolutely worth the trip. You'll likely leave with more than just a bottle--you'll leave with a great experience.
