I was introduced to Amos BBQ when I moved into the area. I went one time and it was really good but the next time my bbq was greasy. They have good coleslaw but the potato salad isn't my favorite but we all are picky when it comes to potato salad and macaroni and cheese. Give them a try because we all have different taste so they maybe right up your alley! Oh and try their stew! read more

We were on vacation from Columbus, Ohio, and one thing we always do while on vacation is to eat at local places. Well, Yelp took us to Amos and it was amazing! We had the BBQ platter, which consisted of ribs, pulled pork & beef, and sides of fries and mac & cheese, with a piece of Texas toast - it was all delicious! Especially the meats - we actually got another half rack of ribs, they were so good! Smokey, fall off the bones deliciousness. The guys there were all super nice & friendly, and they are doing BBQ right! It's the kind of place that you go up to the counter and order, and then they bring your food out to you. It's a super homey feeling, with some tables & booths inside, and also a patio area outside with picnic tables - plenty of space to sit and enjoy your ribs! Also, there is cool memorabilia everywhere! I would have gotten pics of our food, but it was instant feeding frenzy as soon as it hit the table! read more

Ordered the daily special and got a decent, big pork barbecue sandwich that came with a pretty good order of baked beans. You might be hesitant to go in because it's a little ramshackle from the outside but guess what? It's also ramshackle inside! There's lots of wall decor and memorabilia to capture your interest, plus you might catch an episode of Gunsmoke in black and white! Our meal came out promptly and we were satisfied. Since we live close by, we'll be back! read more

Amos's BBQ - the front porch of the restaurant - Barbeque Near Me - Ball Ground, Georgia

It's a nice little hole in the wall. Pretty good BBQ food and very friendly staff. Definitely worth trying out.

Darn good food. Good people. Good service. Good prices. Good down home spot. Good deal.

Very nice people and a great place to stop in for breakfast. Biscuits and gravy were delicious. Lunch wasn't quite as good as the breakfast in my opinion, but it was still pretty tasty. I had a BBQ chicken sandwich and am definitely open to trying other items on the menu. Everything is reasonably priced and there are specials everyday. I was also very excited that they carried hot sauce as I can never have enough heat. Worth dropping by when you see Amos smoking and definitely worth trying their breakfast. read more

Came here after a recommendation from my brother who said it was "the best BBQ you can get around here" and I wasn't disappointed. The inside and outside is decorated with fun memorabilia and other antiques. Ordered the BBQ pork and a side of fried pickles and both were really great. Pork was really moist and flavorful and was topped with some quality sauce. The cole slaw was okay, a bit too sweet for my taste but maybe fine for others. Fried pickles were awesome with a crunchy outside and a deliciously crisp inside. I judge my fried pickles by how well the batter sticks to the spear, and these were firmly coated with the stuff. I think my meal came out to be around $7, so the value for all this was awesome! I would definitely come back and try some of the other BBQ meats they offer (and definitely get a side of the fried pickles!). read more

Amos's BBQ - Pork w/slaw & fried okra - Barbeque Near Me - Ball Ground, Georgia

[TL;DR] A decent, neighborhood BBQ spot that also serves breakfast. It's somewhere you want to go in the warmer months, which I'll get to in a second. /ATMOSPHERE Well, it's it's not warm out, you're going to find it interesting to get a seat inside. There are 4 or 5 tables inside that pack up if it's cold out. Fear not though, they have a drive-thru. The whole place on the outside is really quaint. It gives you a nice, warm country style feeling. /FOOD Nothing particularly above decent BBQ in either the BBQ or the sauces. I got the Stuffed Tater which was just a bit bland and too sweet. I'd try it again but would probably get the BBQ sauce on the side and add a little salt. One detraction is the coffee and tea are run tthrough the same system. I guess I'm particular about my coffee. I don't want it to have a tea flavor to it, not that they had any that I could drink. The prices are really decent. They serve breakfast as well. One of these days, I plan to stop back by to give it a try since it's right on the way to Gibbs Gardens. /SERVICE Folks are really friendly, both when taking the order and dropping off the food. I did enjoy the place. HOW TO READ MY REVIEWS: 1 Star - Does not approach edible. Always a good place to go for a fast breakfast. Homemade biscuits. Either drive thru or dine in. It's small and very casual. read more

I frequent here for breakfast, the tenderloin, egg, cheese biscuits are phenomenal! ! As well as their brownies. The BBQ is average, sauces are the same. On this evening, the staff seemed very disorganized. Mornings when John (the owner) run much smoother. The country decore is inviting and on cold mornings, they run the woodstove. If you're looking for a great country breakfast, this is definitely your place!!! Please don't discount the BBQ either. It is good, just like what you would find at your average joint. read more

By far some of the worst BBQ I have ever had. I ordered 1.5 pounds of Pulled Pork and 1.5 pounds of brisket. The lady at the cashier (nice enough) asked if I wanted it hot or cold. I thought it was an odd question and said cold. As I was waiting I could see in the kitchen and noticed that they were chopping meat up (not weighing just approximating) and putting it in the microwave, yes the microwave. I asked if they were putting my meat in the microwave and she said yes, but that it was made yesterday and due to health code they have to freeze it then microwave it if someone wants it hot. I held out hope that it would at least be the best microwaves meat I have ever had. That hope died once I got home and tried it. It was some of the worst and flavorless meet I have ever had. Rough, tough and dry to be accurate. $41.32 paid to find the worst not fresh BBQ I have ever had. Well, small price to pay I guess. In read more

My husband and I stop by this little gem on our way back home to Nashville. The food is outstanding. We have had the barbecue sandwich, the egg biscuit sandwich, pulled pork plate. I stopped at Amos BBQ and went in to get dinner for a family of 6. The first thing I ordered was a large Brunswick stew, I was told by the girl at the counter that I couldn't get a large that I could only get a medium. So, I said give me 2 medium cups of Brunswick stew, she said I couldn't get two mediums. So, I asked if all they had was just enough for a medium and that was the last. She said "No, we have enough, but you can only get one medium because we only make enough for everyone for the whole evening ". I was absolutely shock! I told her that if she could not accommodate me then I would go somewhere else. I guess that also meant that if I wanted 2 racks of ribs that I could only get one!!! I would not recommend Amos to anyone! Especially if you need to cater a party!!!!! read more

Good food and portions for sides great options and they had Brunswick stew yes yes 5 stars for me

Bad quality and very greasy. The place itself could be a hidden gem close to Gibbs Garden as it's nice and mostly clean. Today there was a bunch of teenager running the restaurant. It took really long until food came and it was incomplete. It was a plater for two but what I saw was the portion more for one person (and I'm not into huge portions of food). I felt like paying for two and getting one. The fries were soooooooooo greasy like I've never seen it before. The pork and chicken and ribs where okay, just okay. And besides that all comes on cheapest plastic, plastic and plastic. Guys, that's not how it works. Deliver the quality customers pay for. The grease is still hanging in my stomach hours later. I'm not coming back. read more

Unfortunately, I have to say this is one of the worst places I have eaten. I have given them the benefit of the doubt for breakfast at least 5 times. The biscuit is always burnt, as well as the bacon. It gives you that charcoal burnt taste in your mouth.. So, I said I will give them a shot for dinner, maybe breakfast just isn't their specialty. I tried the BBQ Sandwich, Baked Beans, and Potato Salad. I will honestly say the BBQ wasn't that bad. However, the potato salad didn't make it a mile down the road before I tossed it out. It was plum awful. The baked beans were old and smooched together, I had never seen anything like it.. All around I am very disappointed. I know they have kids running the place for most of the time but good lord ya'll need a country chef. read more

Great Brunswick stew and and awesome cat outside. BBQ is top notch. Feed the cat and it loves rubs.

Atmosphere and the staff was very nice. The restaurant itself is kinda cool with a lot of antiques. The BBQ pulled pork was terrible. Even the sauce couldn't help it. The sides were fair. We won't be back. Too many great BBQ places to eat closer to home. read more

Easy in easy out Always friendly And always the tastiest As well as good portion The inside atmosphere is as charming as grandmas house. While the outside has a down home rustic feel. The sheer aromatic smell of the real wood burning make it hard to drive by without stopping for that famous Amos bbq Juicy but not to wet Robust slow cooked smoked flavor that doesn't Overwhelm your tastebuds that leave room for the sweet tang of their signature sauce. Defiantly worth the 3 to 4 mins or less you will take just to drive in. read more

We recently relocated from the west coast to the Canton area and since the first day in Georgia we were looking for a local BBQ place. Well, we found it in Amos's BBQ. The ribs are the best I had in a longtime, the staff are very friendly and serviceable, the locale is very cozy, family inviting and with a home town flavor (do not expect a fancy environment, after all I never had any good hometown food in any fancy restaurant) and the atmosphere is like no other. So far we have visited Amos twice in the last week and we have no complains at all. Both times we ordered our food to be consume inside the premises because we enjoy the place and the people that work and frequent this great place. They also have a drive thru in case you are in a hurry, which by the way we have not used it yet. They serve breakfast and we will have to try their biscuits as Samantha recommended. We do recommend Amos for their great costumer service, awesome BBQ, great family environment and for the home like feel we witness every time we go there. Enjoy! read more

What kind of BBQ joint runs out of chicken AND beef before 2 p.pm.? My wife and I went on a Saturday drive and stopped in here based on Yelp reviews. We were VERY disappointed. They are open until 8 pm but by 2 o'clock, they were "out of" both pulled chicken and beef. We settled for pulled pork. It was dry, flavorless and not even hot when served. The two bottles of BBQ sauce at the outdoor communal table were dirty, sticky and almost empty. The "Carolina" sauce was simply white vinegar and some form of heat. No flavor, just acid and hot. The other (unlabeled) bottle contained a mediocre sauce that at least moistened the pork. It was not inedible, but it was also not enjoyable. My wife ordered potato salad as a side. It consisyed of chunks of potato combined with mashed egg yolk and atiny dab of mayonnaise or salad dressing. (There wasn't enough to distinguish its origin.) The only saving grace was the onion rings. They were crisp, hot, well-fried and hot. read more

This little hole in the wall shack has some pretty decent BBQ. I don't even like BBQ very much, but it is my husband's favorite, so I have to endure it every now and then. I ordered the stuffed baked potato. I ordered it stuffed with beef BBQ. It was a huge plate of potato wedges covered with BBQ, cheese, and sour cream. It was greasy southern comfort food at its best. What the heck happened?!?!? I ate here a couple of years ago. Nice dining room. Now there's just a few booths and some covered outside seating. Is there a new trend in BBQ places to serve under cooked, floppy, grease laden french fries? If so Amos's has joined the trend. Horrible. The chopped pork sandwich was just OK and nowhere near as good as it was the first time. Give it a miss. There's better to be had. read more

Went back with the family when they were in town over the holidays. Giving it a mark up to 4 stars, as the barbecue was on par with JD's this time. Good smoke flavor, beef brisket done to perfection, ribs were delicious, and their sides are still my favorite of all the barbecue joints I have been to here in Georgia. Will be glad to mark it up a 5th star after I go back a couple more times and consistently have this kind of barbecue. Consistency is big with me, so we will see what happens in the next update. read more

Homemade bbq at its best. Best ribs around, and oh so delicious stew!

This place is all around terrible. For one if you look like me you won't feel welcome in the least bit not sure if it's just cause professionalisms and customer service are not required for hiring, but this is not the place to seek that welcome warm feeling as most hole in the wall places give. Also an employee had a confederate sweater on as a patriot that was highly offensive to wear an enemy of our great country so proudly. I have to strongly advise anyone to reconsider this place as the food is sub par, bland, but admittedly hot and fresh and affordable. However everything tastes worse when you have to chase it with pride. read more
