My wife stops here just about every morning and absolutely love the food. I got the opposite way and before they open on my way to work so I can only go on the weekend and I generally don't get there before they sell out of biscuits. I did make it there this morning and was not disappointed. The biscuits are very fluffy and buttery. The pulled pork and fried chicken biscuits were delicious. We can't wait to go back and try the BBQ. read more

Following my standard practice of if it isn't a five star restaurant then it doesn't get five stars no matter what. I have been here four times and every time is was great, very consistent lunch/dinner weekday/weekend it was always good. The meat was quality, which is hard to do when slow cooking. The staff was great, joking about college's etc. The Q was excellent, not the best that I have had but the ambiance makes up for it. Nothing that I have had wasn't top quality. Cheers! read more

Maybe I'm not a bbq expert but I can tell tasty food. Had the ribs plate with side order of coleslaw and mac and cheese. The ribs were tender and fall off the bone good. They were meaty and didn't have much fat. The mac was ok. Not the best but not the worst. The slaw was decent. It's a sweet slaw. Some like it that way some don't. I can take it either way. It's a shack so don't expect a five star sit down experience. read more

This is my absolute favorite local bbq spot! It is a whole in the wall, so don't expect anything fancy. My typical go to is a stuffed tater with pork. Yum!! My husband loves their ribs. If I had one complaint, it would be that they need a bigger dining room...oh and don't order the fries. They're definitely on the limp/greasy side. But everything else is spot on!!! read more

I was pretty disappointed with the beef, received a ziplock bag full of fatty cold leftovers. Apparently this is the slop that passed for brisket in redneck Beverly Hills. The inside of the restaurant is filthy, ceiling is performing a slow collapse under years of water damage. It doesn't look like the health inspector makes it out here often. Hard pass. read more

Small, quaint and friendly. Some outside seating but we usually get it to go. Smokey and flavorful and priced right for the amount of food. In this area, it's really the best. That isn't meant to be a slam. Everyone has their own taste about BBQ favorites and this one fits for us when we have a craving. Go, I doubt you will be disappointed, we never have been. read more

Third time coming here for takeout and second time eating there in person. Great experience unique in every way food is authentic but this time both my son and I had severe stomach problems after eating pork sandwich and brisket sandwich it's gonna be a while before we come back unfortunately read more

I've been eating at Amos's since it opened. The quality isn't quite what it used to be but I still get the BBQ from them when we have BBQ for family dinners. I pick up a couple of pounds of pork, quarts of stew and a little extra BBQ sauce (I like the original stuff and it's hard to beat without a long drive). Last week, we stopped in for a BBQ sandwich while out running errands. The sandwiches were good, but it has fallen off a bit. My wife commented that it was the worst sandwich she'd ever had. I offered to speak with the lady at the counter, but she said it still beat going to Two Brothers or Slopes, both of which I like quite a bit. Overall, I still recommend Amos's. Call ahead with a 'cold' order sometime and warm it up in the oven. Grab some Texas toast or your preferred sandwich buns and serve hot with pickles and slaw. We do so up to a half dozen times a year. With my sons around, there's rarely any left! read more

This is one of my favorite bbq restaurants. Located in an old house it has a divey feel. Food and sauces are phenomenal. Dont miss out. Very busy on the weekends, so plan on a wait but remember good things take time. read more

Amos's BBQ - Bbq pork sandwich - Barbeque Near Me - Ball Ground, Georgia

If you are looking for fru fru bbq turn around. This is put in the sticks bbq. Big sandwiches, fair Boston baked beans and decent banana pudding. It's decorated in early 1980 chick minus the glitter. There was a framed letter from John Denver rejecting their inquiry complete with stamped envelope. It was stuck onto of a graduation picture frame on top of photo. To their credit there is a huge firewood business in the front yard. A y'all conveyor belt dominates the front yard. It carry's the spilt logs heavenward before dumping them ceremoniously into a heep. That would be a pile to you City folks or Gomer fans. The syrup is set to high on the cocolar machine. You get a good one. The bbq sauce is an unusual elixir. One bite it's right good. The next I had to wonder if was axel grease. Pork was well presented and flavorful. They steam and crispen the buns which I really likes. Breakfast is served here too. We'll be back. It was a charming little 5 booth joint with a lot of color, just as much so on the dining porch out front which is actually larger than inside. Be sure to catch the firewood show. read more

To the owner of Amos' BBQ: We had been introduced by some of your regular and have been going to Amos' BBQ since we've moved to the area about 10 years ago. We have told people about the good food and told them it was worth going there. Unfortunately, in the last few months the service has gone down quite a bit. I typically do not like giving bad reviews because it may be an "off day", but this morning I had a horrible customer service experience that prompted me to write this review. It was pouring and I was running a little behind schedule for my Saturday morning errands. I called at 10:24am to ask if they could make a breakfast sandwich then, because I knew breakfast would be over soon and I would pick it up in 10 minutes (not minding if it were a little cold). The young lady who answered the phone told me no, the grill was already off. I told her it wasn't even 10:30am (the time breakfast is supposed to end). She reiterated, rudely that the grill was already turned off and that they could not make me breakfast. Really??? As a owner, you should realize your employees are the face of your business and that no matter the size of someone's order, they should be treated with respect and that your employees should ALWAYS adhere to your standards, working hours and give excellent customer service. If not, you will lose loyal customers. I have been in the customer service industry for over 15+ years and I would always like to know from patrons if any of my employees treated them badly, in my absence. Unfortunately, we will no longer be eating or ordering anything from Amos' BBQ nor will we recommend them to anyone. read more

This is good solid barbecue. The place has a lot of character, it doesn't look like much from the road. The whole front of the place is filled with logs, and a log splitter. It looks more like a lumber yard from the street. Their prices are good, and have a decent selection of items to choose from. You can sit out on the front porch at a picnic table, and they have a cat that may rub up on your leg seeking attention. Friendliest cat I know, and doesn't beg to be fed, just likes a little love. read more

Yeah it's deliverance here. Cousins brothers mothers who knows who has f d who. Just know it might smell good but never bought frozen bb que before stopping at this place. Want it hot or cold ? Yeehaw read more

If there is ever a worst BBQ place this is it. Pass by run by. It don't go in. Total waste of time and the food is so bad

This place has awesome biscuits in the morning. The staff is amazingly friendly and remember all our orders, and somehow manages to usually get them ready as we drive up to the window. And I don't mean they have it sitting there waiting, it is delivered fresh and HOT. The BBQ is good, but honestly I'm not a big BBQ person so I'm just going on the ravings of my family. But them biscuits, man... oh yeah. read more

Cool little spot, great rustic look and feel. This is not a fancy place, but if you are looking for good food in a cool, laid back setting, this is a great spot. Pork sandwich was good, ribs were very tender and falling off the bone, and baked beans were tasty. Will be going back. read more

Cool spot. But I'm just not a fan of sweet BBQ sauce. I also like home made hot BBQ sauce and here the hot suace is just that, hot sauce. They scored 98 on the health score which is awesome. Che k it out, it's worth a try. read more

The bbq pork and bbq beef sandwiches were full of fat and were terrible. There is a Confederate flag inside and lots of black decor which I find not very tasteful and wouldn't you know it, we had a family of white folks come in with 2 black babies and everyone stared and whispered and they were kind of rude to them too. Not the place for me. No excuse to treat folks like they did that family and those beautiful kids. This is 2019 and the war is over people, get over the race thing. Take down the flag and decor and treat everyone equally. No excuse for being rude and unkind to children or anyone else. Don't waste your time or money on this place read more

Great place, good BBQ mix of ham and butt. Nice folks. TRY IT YOU'LL LIKE IT fun atmosphere ,it's just a joint as a BBQ joint should be.

Amazing BBQ, definitely recommend!! I am never disappointed, and the people are ALWAYS super nice. Thank you guys!

This was our 2nd visit in about 9 months. No Ribs, no Brunswick stew, no coleslaw made. The pulled pork was nothing special. The fries were gross. soggy and greasy. My 5 year old wouldn't eat them and she eats everything. Tater salad was decent. Okra was really good. The cashier was rude. Snapped at my child that she could only do one thing at a time. I'm pretty sure he didn't ask her for anything. He's 4. She was pouring tea from a bucket into the tea thing where you get your drink. Someone left spout open. needless to say it was a mess and it stayed that way for the hour we were there. Maybe we just got there at a bad time. Lunch on labor day. Also, 2 pork plates, 2 kids chicken tenders w/ fries and 4 drinks was $45. I know you gotta make money but that was way overpriced for what we got. read more

This place is well off the beaten path. Was on a motorcycle trip and stopped in to eat. You order at the register and pay then find your seat. I enjoyed the old time atmosphere with the antique wood stove but the staff never really checked on me. Wasn't a good dinner experience. The food was ok but I've had alot better bbq and it was over priced. I give it 3 stars for the warm and cozy atmosphere but the bbq needs work and the staff needs to smile every now and again read more

Cool atmosphere but food was not good. Pork was dry and drowned in overly sweet sauce. Beans are from a can and slaw was boring. Very disappointing. read more

Awesome looking place. The good experience ends there. Tough ribs, dry BBQ; slaw and potato salad were mediocre. Sad to say that Amos' has really gone down hill. With so many good Q options, this is one to miss. read more

When we entered the restaurant we were not greated at all. When we started to order the cashier acted like she did not even want to be here. The BBQ sauces tasted really good. The cole slaw is good, the fries are hot and real good. The pork is more mushed than pulled. The BBQ beans are good. Very small portions. Not great BBQ. Nothing will ever BEAT Memphis BBQ in Dunwoody. Will not be going back. read more

We found this place because we were invited to Farm Fresh Butchers, just across the street (it by the way is 5 star too) So we wanted take out and walked up to the takeout. This was a small mistake, as the annunciator is hard to activate by stomping on it. We came about 3:30 PM I ordered a pint of pulled pork. My wife indicated she wanted ribs. I got a half slab. These come sans sauce. The pulled pork was $10.60, the half slab was $23.31, both with tax. The pulled pork was really pulled not cut. The flavor was great with a strong pork flavor with a mild smoke flavor. The best I have every enjoyed. The ribs were the same. Very meaty, indeed probably the meatiest I have ever enjoyed. The sauce, tomato based had hints of molasses and hot. I prefer Tom's Barbeque in Fort Lauderdale, but Amos's is a close 2nd. Although the address is Ball Ground, it is about 9 miles East of the town proper, which makes it 15 miles off of I575. It is well worth the drive. My wife and I have scoured the South, looking for great barbeques. We have probably been to over 200 in the past years. This is the best. Well worth the drive from Atlanta. I used to have a strong prejudice against white owned and operated barbeques. Amos BBQ has gone a long way to extinguish that prejudice. read more

Love this place. Some of the best BBQ I have ever eaten. We come at least once a week.

I had a fairly large catering order to pick up at 6:00. They called me to confirm the order earlier in the day which I appreciated. My wife went to pick up the order and was a few minutes late. When she arrived they had not even begun to fill my order. They also were very rude to my wife asking her several questions that were inappropriate and not important to ordering BBQ. When we got to the location about 15 minutes away to consume the food, it was ice cold....not room temperature...like just came out of the fridge type cold. I called to speak to the manager about the entire situation. She was polite and to the point. She said the owner would be calling me shortly to discuss the matter. When the owner called I told him the situation. Instead of offering an apology for the crummy service he defended why the food was served cold saying that I requested it that way (which I didn't) We then got into an argument over semantics and never once did he accept any blame or apologize for terrible service. After we had to heat up our own meal, the food was mediocre at best. Needless to say we won't be eating there again, and the owner should be ashamed. read more

Amos's BBQ - Barbeque Near Me - Ball Ground, Georgia

Last known southern hospitality establishment. Came home from north ga to the family in North Fulton and thought I would pick up biscuits for everyone. Only had Amex, placed the order and tried to pay. They said they don't take Amex and to just pay them later. I haven't heard of service like that since the 80's. I drove back up a few weeks later and over paid with tip! The look on their face when I came back was awesome..Customer forever! read more

Excellent food. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Some of the best Brunswick stew I've ever had.

Stopped by with family for lunch on Saturday. Very busy, which is good sign. Cool old place, simple country food. Friendly staff and great baby back ribs. Tater salad was ok, fried okra was good but ribs are the story. Must try for sure. This is old country southern BBQ place, if you are looking for an upscale fake BBQ place then don't come here. They have drive through as well, kind if amazing. read more

It doesnt get any better than this. Even the Civil War era ambiance. Ill be back.... lots of times

The wife and I stopped in for breakfast. As others have said, it is a bit of a hole-in-the-wall, but that's my kind of place. We both had two eggs, meat, and a biscuit. It was about $4.50 each which I thought was a bit high for the sort of place it is. I guess the Burger Inn in Woodstock has spoiled me. My two eggs over medium were cooked perfectly, but whatever oil they use gave them a bit of an off flavor. The sausage I had was very good, but nothing to write home about. The biscuit was excellent! If I visit again for breakfast, I think I'll go with a tenderloin biscuit or something like that. read more

Excellent BBQ for a decent price. This hole-in-the-wall BBQ place is one of my favorite spots to get good BBQ from, when I can. They open at 5:30 in the morning to serve breakfast including homemade biscuits, and close around 8 PM, usually. I personally recommend their pulled-pork plate, although I must admit that I haven't tried their ribs or anything yet. read more
