Classic hole-in-the-wall BBQ joint, which I like. Affordable, GOOD BBQ. No frills, just good smoky meat, tasty sides. Good place for takeout for a game or for a good lunch if you don;t mind sharing the table with your neighbor. read more

My wife and stopped in for breakfast. I got a bbq pork biscuit. My wife got the sausage n gravy. Its the best we have ever had. The person behind the counter was polite. Nice people. We will definitely be coming back. read more

My family came here for a quick stop on our way to big canoe. I had the pork plate with coleslaw and baked beans. It was VERY good and pretty generous. I was afraid it might be fatty but there was not a single bite that I didn't like. Very happy with my meal! read more

Great hole in the wall spot... Stopped in with the family for dinner. The atmosphere and smell was awesome. I would give it an 8 out of 10 only negative was the sauce... Not a big fan of sweet sauce. read more

Seems to be going down hill. Really sad, but the quality and service is not good. Employees act like they are half dead and waiting on the next smoke break. Need to be killing flys and cleaning in the spare time. Maybe a surprise visit from the food inspector would shop things up... read more

Not bad for a little hole in wall. Good ole country charm. They are very stingy with sauces? Not sure what's up with that? Great for take-out. Do not think it's really meant to be a sit down type place. read more

I used to like this restaurant until their service went completely downhill... I waited 20 minutes in the drive-through today for an overpriced meal. Their prices are extremely high and I will not be coming back. read more

My husband brought home a chicken plate and a beef plate. These came with a slice of white bread and a bag of Lays Potato Chips. Both meats looked like they had been processed via a meat grinder and did not taste very good. We ate our potato chips and threw out almost everything else. Very disappointing. We will never go back. read more

Incredible Brunswick stew. Best in georgia. BBQ is great too. Ribs are very good. Brownies for $1.

Great ribs and pulled meats... really enjoyed the food. Great sauces including wicked hot habanero for the brave. Would definitely go again. Dining inside and out...good bbq shack. Only draw back is now whole chicken read more

Consistently very good BBQ. My wife and I prefer the Beef and the Pork. Very good Brunswick stew as well.

Great place!! My neice brought us here for dinner & we loved it so much we came back for breakfast! Such a cool & unique restaurant. Everyone was so friendly. Biscuits & gravy were to die for!! read more

Do Not Eat At This Restaurant! Staffed by rude smart ass teenagers! Food isn't much either. My son and I had been working up in that area and waited until we finished so we were eating lunch at 2pm. We were hungry. I am scheduled for cataract surgery in November, and was having trouble reading the menu on the wall behind the counter. The menu was written in sharpie on white board and there were 2 spot lights directed at it. All I could see was glare from the lights off of the white board. I was explaining this to the young man taking my order, and asking him to read the "plates" menu, when another young man pops out of the kitchen and interrupts me and says "It's a bbq restaurant, what the hell do you think is on their" . I said " I can't see it", the young man repeated himself laughing and smirking. I told my Son "I don't have to put up with this, let's get out of here". The young man says "What's wrong with you?" I said " you are making fun of me because I can't see." At that point another young man stepped in and said I will take your order . We ordered and sat down outside and the n the smart ass young man comes out literally throws our plates food on the table and says "eat that".. Well there was no way we were eating that food so we threw it in the trash refilled our drinks and left. Hoffibly rude service! I will never go there again. read more

I will start by saying the food was good. But I get angry when I see places that price gouge. Total cost for lunch for 2 adults and one child=$28. I will say, we chose the drive through so we had no recourse to their penny pinching. The kid's hotdog was nothing special at $3. The pulled pork sandwich and beef sandwich was good but barely had any sauce. When we asked for sauce the girl at the register snipped back that it was already on the sandwiches. According to the menu, the special for the day came with beans. We received slaw. When we asked about the beans we were told we were wrong and it's slaw. We aren't big fans of slaw so this was kind of a deal. I had the fries which were chewy and not worth the money I paid. I ordered the banana pudding for $4. After checking the bag before we left I had to ask them to actually give it to me. They seemed irritated that I checked the bag. Once I finally received it, it was in a very small container and I was half out after two bites. The drinks were so filled with ice that I ran out of soda before I left the parking lot. My 7 year old (who has never run out of her drink) ran out before her hot dog was gone. Needless to say, we will not be returning. $28 later, we are moving on lunch destination #2 for the afternoon. read more

Unfortunately I was not impressed with this local BBQ joint. The atmosphere is great- like an old house converted to a restaurant... loaded with old cabin/antique stuff and log tables on the front porch... but I didn't appreciate a worker coughing while in the kitchen, not washing her hands, and talking about what parts of my ordered meals she was going to help the cook with. My meal came out fast (some plates and sandwiches). The baked beans and stew were full of flavor but other items (potato salad, pork, chicken) lacked all flavor. Fries were old. Sadly, would not recommend. read more

We love Amos's BBQ. It isn't the fanciest by any means, but they serve really good bbq at very good prices. And yes, you either sit inside in the cramped tables around the fireplace, or on the porch crowded with 'stuff', roaming cat and flies! But that is all we love about Amos's. The good food and atmosphere like you are going to your cousin's house in the country for a picnic cookout. It ain't hoity toity! It's just GOOD! read more

Would give 5 stars if everything didn't have so much salt on it, especially the grits, they were almost not edible.

We stopped here on the way to Big Canoe at the reviews of a friend. We were certainly pleased. The building is very neat and full of old antique pieces. I had the bbq plate with slaw and brunswick stew. The bbq was wonderful and had that smokey flavor. The sauces were great too. The brunswick stew was delicious and I ate the entire bowl. We would definitely stop here again if in the area! read more

Best biscuits and gravy in the whole state of Georgia. Love the Johnsons and the regulars, feels like home.

Great, smoky BBQ! Want a change of pace? Try the stuffed potato, but swap out the baked potato for fries instead! The Brunswick stew is also not to be missed. read more

Although I found the country charm cute, the food was not very good. The baked beans tasted like they were poured from a can, the BBQ meats were very dry and the other sides were mediocre at best. I wouldn't return as there's such better options. read more

I make a point to hit up every BBQ joint in Georgia, and I can honesty say this place has some of best stew I've encountered. Grab your plate and sit outside on one of the cozy wooden tables - great ambiance! read more

I give this a 2 not on the food quality/taste but the way that my catering event was handled. When I first requested a quote, my price was estimated over the phone at around $200.00. I stayed in touch with Amos' BBQ through email after that. I never received a final quote or price of how much the catering event would cost. I was told that I could use the warmers they had if needed since I would be picking up the order myself. I did ask if a credit card could be used and received an answer of yes. When I arrived to pick up my order, I was greeted with, "it's not ready". I simply stated that someone could have called me to let me know since the party is in 2 hours. Luckily the statement was changed and my order was ready. They were great to help me out to the car with the order but what shocked me was when it was time to pay for the order. My estimated quote went from around $200.00 to a whopping $371.78. On Monday, my husband dropped off the warmers back to them. Since I did not receive a breakdown of the food costs, I sent an email asking for the breakdown. I was then told that the original quote was $318.80. That there was normally a fee for the warmers, and that there was normally a fee for credit card charges over $100.00. No where in any of my communication with Amos' BBQ was any of this ever stated or discussed with me. I never received an updated quote from them nor if the price was going to be ok. Also in the email, I was told that the final price should have been $366.63 and I was charged $371.78 the day I picked up the food. I was then told that while I was there, that I was charged for an appetizer and a drink. I never once ordered either or had in my possession either. A refund was never offered to me, but instead, the comment, " I can look on our security cameras to see what items you had", was spoken to me. So I caution you if you are choosing this restaurant for catering, be cautious that your pricing may not be exactly what was communicated to you originally. Make sure that you receive the price before you get there and while you are there, make sure that you are not charged for additional food that you don't get. Get there early incase your order is not ready. read more

Seriously unfriendly folk. Arrived to find the staff outside smoking out the front and they all stared at us as we made our way in. Said hello to one of them and was ignored. Similarly rude inside - snapped at us as orders taken. Food was ok but they really need to understand the basics of being polite and graceful. read more

He been there two times now. The brisket is very chewy. They tend to use a lot of liquid smoke. Slightly below avg for BBQ. The brownie gets 5 stars though. Almost worth going just for that. read more

The only thing positive about this place is the rustic location. Food is poor quality with fat and gristle in the pork sandwich (big turnoff). Their cole slaw with dill seasoning is horrible. Today was our second try and LAST! Stomach cramps are no fun... read more

We had a birthday party for my husband and ordered ribs, pork and beef for the party. A friend of ours from south Georgia is a barbque judge and had raving reviews of your meats and sauce. Thank you so much for your delicious food and great service. You made it an event to remember! read more

No frills, down home Georgia BBQ at its finest. Most authentic BBQ joint we've had the pleasure of eating at since moving to Georgia. I had the 1/2 slab of ribs which were very generous, baked beans and fries. They also give you a big slice of buttered toast. I smoke meat as a hobby, so I know good ribs (they're my specialty) and these ribs are good. A). They remove the membrane off the back B). They don't put on a ton of rub and you can really taste the smoke (although I do like mine a little more seasoned). C). They cut their own wood right out front. You step out of your car and smell the awesomeness immediately. Husband is a brisket fanatic. He had the chopped brisket & fried okra. The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is that we judge BBQ places on 2 things: Ribs & Brisket - sliced brisket......this brisket is chopped. If they would offer long smoked sliced brisket, we'd give it 5 stars. These ribs are near my #1 top in Georgia so far.....Williamson Brothers are very close. Before I would declare a winner I'd have to eat at Amos's again for the ribs and then make my decision. We are fans of Amos's BBQ and we will definitely come back. Also look forward to bringing family that come in from Ohio to show them a true GA BBQ experience. Great job Amos's. read more

From Indiana visiting family. Heard the ribs were good and decided to give it a try. Not a fancy place, very small, largest table inside seats 6 but there are a few large picnic tables out under a large patio. We had ribs, pulled pork, stuffed tater and fries. All six of us give it 5 stars. read more

the food here is pretty awesome but i am a little upset that i had to pay 1.06 for my ranch that i ate w my fries. they do not make their fried okra. not sure what else they import. the sauce is 10/10. would eat here again. read more

All around good BBQ. Stew is the best I have eaten. I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the neighborhood.

Live in the area and have driven by a number of times. There are always cars in the lot and so I thought they all must be on to something. Wrong! Overpriced grease!! 2 people and 2 lunch plates 20+$....maybe in downtown ATL, but in the rural area brushing up to the North Georgia mountains not so much. Asked for a cup of water and was charged 1$ without being told why. When questioned was told we had to pay for the Styrofoam cup. When we then declined a beverage we were given 2 decent sized plastic Dixie cups of water at no charge, which was perfectly adequate. Why wasn't this just provided up front rather than attempt to "sneak in" an extra buck is beyond me. Food arrived and the pulled pork BBQ was OK, neither bad nor great. The baked beans taste like canned pork and beans. The fries were beyond terrible. They were not cooked through and cold in the middle, while at the same time dripping in grease. The person on the fryer has no idea how to make the oil hot enough to rapidly cook fries all the way through, while at the same time pulling them out of grease so that they are crisp to the bite. Needless to say I will never return. read more

I have lived 3 miles from Amos for 8 years and tried it for first time and WOW I been missing some awesome BBQ. Great food don,t pass by stop in read more

The flavors were really good. BUT it came to us barely warm. We came on a Sat @ 1pm, so I don't think we were outside the lunch window. I would like to try it again to see if we just caught them on a bad day. The kids loved the rib plate, and I liked my stuffed tater. My husband thought the ribs had a good smoke on them. Again he said that if it would've been hot, it would've been different. With them being almost cold, it was like eating leftovers. Just took the magic out of the experience. read more

Not the best but not the worst or so I thought. I wondered why the pulled pork was gray and then I went through the drive through one day and watched in horror as they microwaved a tub of pork. I politely asked if that was how they kept it warm and they seemed shocked I would ask... As if microwaved food is normal at a restaurant. I'm amazed this place is in business and that people are giving it such positive reviews microwaved pulled pork is NOT good BBQ. read more

We love this place!! The BBQ is consistently great. The loaded BBQ baked potato is particularly tasty.

This is the best pulled pork anywhere. It is tender, smoky, flavorful and well prepared. I've been traveling from Cumming to Ballground every July 4th doe 20 years and they never let me down yet.. read more

I am not really sure where to start about this place. My wife had them cater my 40th birthday, which was a surprise for me. She got a verbal quote from the business manager and they told her it would be around $200, which is what she agreed to. They were running behind, about 30 minutes late, when she arrived to pickup the food, so obviously she was in a big hurry. They ran our credit card, and she left with the food. She didn't get a receipt and didn't sign anything. We noticed two days later we were charged almost $400, which is double the verbal price. She emailed the manager for an explanation, and requested a detailed bill (which lacks detail), and was different from what we were charged! My wife tried to reason with the lady but she said she wasn't going to argue and didn't offer any explanation as to why we were charged twice as much. I reported fraudulent charges to our credit card company this evening. I will make sure to post bad review where feasible and inform the 40+ people that were at my party of how company flat out robs people. Hopefully someone will mess up their special event. read more
