Solid BBQ. The ribs were meaty, tender, smokey and flavorful. The collards were really good. The mac n cheese was my style it's creamy and delicious, I actually took a bite before I remembered to take the picture. We had a burnt ends appetizer, they're very tasty as well and one of the people in my group said next time they might just get a bowl of those instead of an entree. Probably the only complaint I had was the brisket chili. It was very tasty but a bit too salty. Maybe it was just the day we were there. Darn close to a five star. Based on Yelp! Reviews, we decided to give Bub-Ba-Q a shot. Everyone I. Our group agreed it was a great choice. Prices are very reasonable. Portions are ample. The food is served nice and hot. Heck, even the beer is cold. Sadly, the cokes were a bit flat. Our orders ran the gamut. My wife ordered a stuffed baker. Probably the best stuffed potato I've ever seen. She couldn't finish it, although I tried to help. I ordered the Saturday special-half rack of ribs & 2 sides for $15.00. Seriously? I paid $14 yesterday for a pretzel. My sides were green beans and Cole slaw. The slaw was like KFC and the beans were crisp, not soggy like the ones that soak all day. The ribs were good. I asked for them dry, but I was referring to no sauce. I felt the ribs were slightly dried out. But still very tasty. My son ordered 20 wings for $20. And a side salad. The wings are smoked, then fried. He ordered half naked/half hot. The hot was more mild than hot. I would have preferred the wings to be in the fryer a little longer. I'm sure if he had asked, they would have gladly made them more crispy. My daughter in law ordered half a barbecued chicken with fried okra and creamed corn. It's been a while since we've been here... only because I've learned a recipe for ribs. But we were really craving so back we came. It did not disappoint! We each ordered the Big B: a brisket sandwich with French fried onions and pepper jack cheese. While the meat portion was enough for me, it wasn't much when one reads "Big". Everything on the menu is a delight from the platter appetizer with the heavenly fried pickles and pulled pork chimichanga top with Brunswick stew to The delectable ribs, collards and macaroni and cheese. The sweet tea is also perfection. Allison our server was so wonderful and provided a good overview of what to order to finish off the meal we had a blissful slice of Oreo dirt Pie and banana cream pie. These pies are incredible. Went yesterday and got a family dinner. Haven't eaten there in several months. Meal came with 1 pound of pork,one rack of ribs four buns, two sides gallon of tea. The barbecue pork was absolutely horrible, dry tough, and mostly bark. The Ribs were tough. Buns were stale and Green beans were mushy, my son wouldn't eat the Mac and cheese. i noticed when I walked in they have been getting helth scores in the high 70s. Should've known something was up. They weren't as warm as I'd liked them but they were really good. I forgot to take a picture when they first got there but I did manage to get one. We eat at Bub-Ba-Q regularly as it's our favorite barbecue and one of our favorite places in Jasper. We've always had a good experience. Today, we ordered a side of mac n cheese to-go, were asked to wait 30 extra minutes past the pickup time as they had ran out. No problem. However, upon picking up, the already extremely small side cup was only filled halfway. $5 for about 4 bites of macaroni. Super disappointed in the experience today. read more

Well, I really wanted to love it. It's such a cute place with an awesome outside deck that backs up to the woods and it's covered. We ordered the full rack of ribs, Mac n cheese & coleslaw. Our order came out super fast and the service was great however, I didn't enjoy the meal much. The ribs were kinda slim, fatty and the actual meaty parts were so dry it was like eating jerky. Sauces tasted great although very runny. The max n cheese(that was the #1 recommended by our waitress) was horrible! It was like Velveeta with a few pieces of soggy pasta. I love BBQ and have been a bit disappointed with the offering in GA since I've been here. With that said this is worth the stop. I was not disappointed at all and the Brisket and Ribs were quite good. I like dry ribs on ribs and you can get them dry or with sauce (nice to have options). The brisket was moist and not overly Smokey (just enough), to not taste it for hours after. The fried pickles changed recipe. They are no longer spears and they are chips. Over cooked, poorly seasoned, really greasy, actually really kinda bad. The pickle spears were the reason I kept coming back. Hallelujah, I finall found a barbecue restaurant that has multiple sauces, they are all diverse, and they all taste great. I found this place on maps and it was a little bit off the beaten path. They have plenty of parking, the interior is awesome, they have live music on the weekends on the deck, they also have a open deck. The staff was awesome and the banana pudding was incredible. I have zero negativity to say about this place except for I wish it was closer to my house. It is not very often that I stop at a barbecue restaurant in brag like this. Everytime I'm in the area, I make it a point to stop in. Food is always great and there's not a bad thing on the menu. We ate lunch here on a Tuesday in mid January. $43 with tip. We got the barbecue plate and brisket chimichanga burrito). The barbecue was very bland and had lots of fat. I don't often not finish a meal, but I left half the barbecue (it was that bad). The French fries were under cooked, and the Mac and Cheese (premium side) was cheesy, but had no flavor. The brisket chimichanga was very saucy and the brisket flavor was covered by the sauce. This restaurant was rated 3rd in restaurants in Jasper and had many awards posted on the walls. It left us wondering what the competition was like at these competitions. This lunch was definitely not worth $43 and we just can't recommend this place. Won't be back. read more
