Of the many BBQ places I've visited, this one is a long standing one with quite a history. If you visit, the story is written on the menu. But a history is not the only thing this restaurant offers. This place is one of the very few that smokes the meat to a very obvious degree. I have not tasted this level of smoke in a while, and it is quite an acquired taste that is not commonly found these days. We ordered ribs, pulled pork, fried pickles, and a blackberry cobbler. I ordered the ribs, and they were fall-off-the-bone tender. The rub on them was delicious, and their sauce perfectly complimented the juicy meat. I wish there was a little more spice in their spicy barbecue sauce, but it was still delicious. I also tried their garlic salad, and it kind of just tasted like a bottled grocery store dressing without a lot of garlic flavor. The sides were good but nothing standout about them. If I had the choice between driving 50 minutes to Fox Brothers BBQ in Atlanta or driving all the way to cherry Log GA (59 minutes) to have BBQ the answer is simple. There is no contest, Pink Pig is SO MUCH BETTER. I found the best ribs ever at this small country restaurant. I would put their ribs and brisket up against any of the BBQ places in Brooklyn/Manhattan/Atlanta. The ribs were so flavorful, sauce not really needed. They offered a spicy/hot/sweet sauce/vinegar which I tried each, but the meat stands well enough on its own! Brisket was moist and easily cut. I received a very generous plate of sliced brisket alone as I was not interested in the sides. Amazing flavor. The sides are good, don't get me wrong, the beans were amazing and the slaw perfect. Not too dry nor too wet. Please do not let the exterior look of this place out you off. The food was great. Service was good too and very friendly!!! Do NOT miss the delicious desserts. Initially I didn't want them but others in our 9 person group wanted some. Two were cobblers, and either one was delicious. The hot cobbler and cold ice cream perfect ending. Right next to our cabin we were staying in. Pleasantly surprised how big this place was! Rustic m, homey feeling inside the restaurant; I ordered take out because of this kids. We kept it simple with just baked beans, fries, pulled pork and coleslaw. Everything was good but the coleslaw and beans were star! My ribs were a true delight--four to the plate, generously seasoned, with a perfect balance of smokiness and that wonderful BBQ umami The other meals around my table included sliced brisket, which was a bit too dry for my taste. Chopped brisket drenched in BBQ sauce was okay, but not over the top. The BBQ pork sandwich had a generous pile of meat on beautifully grilled Texas toast. The appetizers were fried pickles, quartered instead of sliced, which could have been better breaded. Fried green tomatoes needed a lot of work. The brisket nachos were the star of the show! The combination of flavors, the chopped brisket, the toppings, and the crunch of the fresh chips made this one of their best offerings. It could easily be a meal by itself. The coleslaw was passable. The okra was breaded well but could have been served hotter. The Alice potatoes were deep-fried potato bites that were perfectly seasoned with garlic and Parmesan. They were a hit. The Brunswick stew was, however, - meh, not worth writing home about. Tim, the manager, was our waiter. He was very friendly and accommodating, but having one more server would have made the service smoother and more comfortable. We split the Rib Plate with two sides of our choice being Brunswick Stew and Alice potatoes (diced, seasoned & roasted potatoes). The ribs from yesterday had a few cartilage tubes, which is not uncommon and easily spit out, but majority of Pink Pigs' Ribs are on point: Moist, meaty, flavorful, and "fall off the bone" tender. Stocking our cabin with some groceries, we stopped in at the local Food Lion, where sweet Carla who checked us out recommended The Pink Pig. "Tell Sam I sent ya, you've got to try the Brunswick Stew." When stepping out of the car in the gravel parking, you can instantly smell that Carla wasn't kidding. This was gonna be good. And that was an understatement. Walking in, you know right away this place is a unique hole in the wall. The entire restaurant has been painted pepto bismol pink. Service is great and everyone is friendly. The aroma from the kitchen has your mouth watering! After a quick once over of the menu, we knew right away- pulled pork, macaroni and cheese, hand cut fries and ofcourse Brunswick Stew. I must say, I'm a tough critic on barbecue. It has to be flavorful, moist and tender- don't just drown it in sauce. This meat was perfect. No dried out, little bits of chunky bark and sauces are on the side! All three are spectacular by the way! Carla was right, best stew I've ever had! We finished off with a peach cobbler and I must say, it was divine! A little out of the way from Blue Ridge in Cherry Log. The facility is old, tired, and badly in need of investment. The food and service are off the charts. Some of the best barbecue and sides you will ever eat, with very reasonable prices. If you are in the Blue Ridge - Ellijay area, the Pink Pig must be on your list. You won't regret the trip. The BBQ places in Blue Ridge don't even come close to the quality of food at the Pink Pig. This place was incredible and everything you want out of a local BBQ joint! We had the onion rings which were hand battered and delicious and split the Kylie special (BBQ quesadilla with mushrooms, cheese, peppers, and onions) which was SO GOOD! Small, side of the road gravel parking area. Be careful backing out onto the road to leave! We were escorted to our table at the back of the restaurant in an unheated area where the tables looked nice and rustic but ours was extremely wobbly and unstable. We ordered waters and two kids cokes. We were NEVER offered refills although a very loud table of women over from us received multiple, ample refills of their beverages. We ordered a fried green tomato app which was good however very greasy. (I know, I know it is fried food but come on less oil or sop up some before serving.) We ordered the brisket plate with roll, fried okra and sweet potato fries, kids chicken strips and fries, kids grilled cheese and fries, rib plate with okra and green beans, as well as the pulled pork quesadilla with peppers, onions and mushrooms (a few were seen in the whole entree not enough to count as a serving). All was okay. Nothing special. Sauce bottles on table had greasy slime on them that needed to be cleaned and were all separated due to no use.
