I ordered takeout on a Saturday night. The food was decent with the exception of the fries. They were limp and had no seasoning. The ribs were the highlight and the brisket was very good too. Although we asked for sweet BBQ sauce, we got back to the house only to find we didn't get any sauce, so be sure to check if you order takeout. My family and I have been coming here since I was a child, and it is hands down my favorite bbq in any city or state. The pulled pork is so tender, the sauce is perfect, and the Brunswick stew is like no other. They perfectly butter their toast. I cannot drive within 30 minutes of here and not make a detour. I consider myself a big bbq fan having sampled many places across the southeast and specifically in Georgia, and I have never found a place that I enjoyed more. It's a hole in the wall, and that's part of its charm. It can definitely get busy but is always worth the wait. My wife and I were visiting Ellijay when we saw the Pink Pig signs. We ate there on a Thursday night, and we're very disappointed. I had the combo (sliced brisket, pulled pork and 2 ribs). First, there was an upcharge of $2.00 to have sliced brisket in lieu of chopped. This makes no sense...any barbecue fan knows when ordering brisket, you expect it to be sliced. But, okay, I went for the sliced brisket. I'm not sure if any of the meats were smoked or not, but there was no smoke flavor in any of the 3. None whatsoever. The brisket and ribs were clearly over cooked (no smoke rings anywhere) and may have been a day or 2 old. The brisket's bark was soggy and had no flavor. The meat itself was a dark brown color all around. (No pink, no smoke ring) I told my wife I might as well had roast beef as that is the flavor and texture of the brisket. The ribs were no better... cold, tough and no flavor. The pulled pork was okay. I gave two stars for the sides and service. Just disappointing...... read more

Let me start by saying I am *not* a BBQ person. In the last few years, I can count the number of times I've eaten BBQ on one hand. With all of that said, this is a place I will be returning to again in the near future! Not only was their food excellent but the staff were friendly and helpful. They made great recommendations, the meal came out very quickly, and my only regret is not getting a dessert. So we remembered the roadside billboards for the Pink Pig, made a quick call, then booked over there. Yes, they had brisket and the wife loved it. I had the ribs, pulled pork, chopped brisket combo and it was delicious. I ordered the mac n cheese and sweet potato fries and wasn't impressed. But we weren't there for the sides, but the meat and they killed it. The sauces were exactly as advertised, spicy or sweet. We loved the decor. The humorous signage in the restrooms that appealed to my sophomoric humor as well as my 16 year old son's. The service was attentive and considerate. This was the perfect spot for our large party of 19. The staff did an excellent job. Nice environment. Great history. The food was great too. I got the combo plate. The brisket is pretty good for chopped - it's not as dry as other reviews make it out to be. The pulled pork is ok too. But the best of the three meats on my combo is the ribs. For sides I chose fried okra and "spuds" (fresh cut French fries). The okra is standard (probably from a frozen package) but the fresh cut fries were top notch. Since we had such a large group we did some sharing of a variety of everything - appetizers, entrees, and sides. The oink onion, fried pickles, & fried green tomatoes are all great! The only other appetizer I tried was mozzarella cheese sticks and they are pretty average frozen product. The Mac n cheese and baked beans are also top notch. The sweet potato waffle fries were ok for frozen package food. I didn't try the stew or smoked chicken but members of our group said they are 4 out of 5 (which is good because we all consider ourselves connoisseur's). The bread looks ok but I was so full I didn't even bite it. All the sauces were great too! I normally don't care for a vinegar sauce but theirs was probably the best I've ever had. The sweet and hot were both really good too. I can't even decide which one I liked the best they were all so good. Overall I have to give this place a 5. When I come back I'll either try the fried chicken or stick with ribs and fresh fries, and I'd like to try the stew. read more

However, I'm not sure how they are rated over 4 stars on any other app. We had the hickory fries (not on the menu) as an appetizer. I had pork+chopped chicken plate with green beans and a side salad. My husband had the pork+brisket plate with baked beans and mac n cheese. Our server, Kylie I think, took a little long to get to our table but very attentive after her initial visit. We got all of our food within an expected amount of time. As far as our food, the hickory fries would have been great if the fries were seasoned & hot and the cheese melted. Overall, the appetizer was barely warm. For our meals, the pork was somewhat dry. It was also shredded, not pulled, same for the brisket. They both tasted good though. The chicken was grilled and did not taste good with bbq sauce. My biggest complaint though - the sides! If you are going to charge me $15+ for a plate with 2 sides, I expect to get homemade, great tasting, high quality food, including the sides. The green beans were out of a can. The baked beans were out of a can. Adding meat to canned food does not make them homemade. The mac n cheese was bought frozen and cooked, didn't even taste like cheese, basically yellow sauce with macaroni. Big disappointment! It was a huge waste of $50!!! read more

I hadn't been to The Pink Pig in years. I discovered that it's better than ever! The best thing(s) in the menu are their meats, and you can't go wrong. The ribs, pulled pork and chicken were tender, juicy and full of that subtle bbq smoke flavor. Delicious. The Mac and cheese was good, but the slaw had very little flavor. But those are just sides! Go for the meat! Our service was top-notch in spite of the fact that there were 9 of us, and they were slammed with hungry customers. Wish I had had room for dessert. Next time for sure! read more

Food is amazing... service is atrocious. The entire place is run by about 30 teenage girls. Most of which are just running around like chickens with their heads cut off and accomplishing absolutely nothing. There are about 4 girls pretending to be hostesses but not actually taking down anyone's names. It also takes about 4 girls to figure out how their credit card machine works at any given time. There's one one man always in a track suit sprinting through the restaurant doing whatever he does. The real hero's of this restaurant is the cooks bc if the food wasn't as good as it is this pace wouldn't be able to stay in business. read more

Absolutely loved this place! It's tucked away off the main road, but we'll worth the turn off the main drag! The place is cute as a button and the service is prompt and down home warm and welcoming! The meat selections are expertly smoked and prepared to perfection! My husband and I got different varieties and tried each other's and everything I tasted was juicy, tender and melted in my mouth like butter! The sauces provided on the table were yummy! I loved everything I ate here! Nothing is over the top and yet nothing is lacking. The ice tea was fresh, the ribs were meaty, the sauces were saucy! The coleslaw is even mayonnaise AND vinegar! We walked in and were greeted by friendly & accommodating staff and PIGGED out. Everything was so delicious, from the FGT to the brisket nachos. This place was BBQ heaven!
