My parents owned southern food restaurants for over 30 years in GA. I have been a chef for 28yrs. I cook a lot of southern food as well. I will say that hands down, Southern Charm is one of the best Southern Food Eateries I've ever been to. 6 of us ordered the fried chicken, country fried steak, shrimp and grits, rainbow trout, meatloaf, with all the fixings!!! Potato casserole, cream corn, green beans, fried okra, sweet potato fries, Cole slaw, baked beans, brown and peppered sausage gravy. Not a single moment did I feel like it was ever too heavy or salty. The biscuits were light and fluffy, and our server Angelina was great! I wish I had pictures of the food, but our empty plates should speak for itself. We even had dessert but the tab was only $165.00 Facility was very clean and love the homey look/feel. 09/10 read more

The biscuits here are very good. Even by southern standards. The food portions are good and the food is flavorful. This restaurant is always crowded because the food is good. But the staff expects that and responds Accordingly. read more

We stopped in to Southern Charm for lunch and really enjoyed it. The hostess outside sets the stage for a great experience with her friendly demeanor and easy charm. She's delightful! I ordered the chicken pot pie with green beans and fried okra. The preparation is different from most pot pies because instead of a pie crust topping, two of their deliciously soft, tasty biscuits are nestled in the pie itself. Different in a very good way! Amazing! My husband had the chicken and dumpling special, which he adored. He chose collards and fried corn for his sides and loved both of those as well. If you plan to ride the Blue Ridge Railway, make sure to eat here either before or after your ride. You'll enjoy it! read more

Southern charm is a perfectly located restaurant with a cute homey interior. The food was very good although it was on the pricey side. I had the mountain rainbow trout and it was quite good! My partner got a biscuit and gravy dish and liked it a lot as well. She wasn't a fan of the spiced apples however. The sweet potato fries were also great! The waiter was courteous and fast, we were served in a matter of minutes although I will add we got there when it was empty and by the time we left it was packed. I can see where wait times could get high. Overall a nice and homey spot. read more

The food was delicious. It was nice to have a choice to pick a light meal. This is a smaller portion. I had the chicken pot pie, it had big pieces of chicken, carrots & peas. You knew it was made from scratch! Also, the homemade biscuits were delicious! read more

Just when you walk in the restaurant, you feel such a warm welcome! Our waitress was exceptional for service and tended to our needs. I ordered their southern fried chicken dinner with fried okra and mashed potatoes, it was a lot to eat ( sorry I didn't snap some photos), and she brought out the best tasting biscuits I've eaten in a long time! Everything was great. When I go to Hiawassee in a couple of weeks, I want to go back and eat there again! What a fabulous place!! read more

We are from out of town and decided to try this place. It was so cute on the outside! We were greeted by a hostess who was very friendly, and the restaurant was clean. It was a little cold, but that's ok. The food was great!! One of their specials was the chicken and dumplings and it was awesome. I had broccoli and green beans as a side. The broccoli tasted so fresh and good. The country fried steak was good also. Would eat here again! read more

Family friendly delicious food cafe located right down in the Blue Ridge downtown area. Before you walked in, you had to give the hostess Carrie your name and party size and then she would call you when the inside opens up. You walk in immediately feel like you entered into someone's warm home. Beautiful paintings, and China displayed along the walls comfortable wooden chairs, lively people ,no Music was playing. That was a little interesting. Would've like to hear some background music. Our server Shania was so sweet!! food came out hot and quick. Loved my fried catfish and sweet potatoes. My sister's shrimp and grits were delicious. The Complementary biscuits that were served, were so soft and served with delicious apple butter that they do sell in the store. read more

Delicious food and amazing atmosphere with great staff. Their menu has a variety of southern style dishes. I ordered the Chicken Breast (2) with 2 sides. The seasoning on the chicken was absolutely amazing. My wife used some and added it to her Chicken and dumplings. The bread pudding was also a great dessert to finalize our dining experience. I recommend 5 stars for Southern Charm and it's staff. Keep up the great job! read more

First time in Blue Ridge and this place hit every box for my family. Place is amazing!

You're typical Southern food restaurant. Food was good. I got the Apple pecan salad. My husband got chicken pot pie which was good to him. The service was excellent and attentive. It's hard to rate a southern cooking restaurant when I am a southern cook myself. I'm partial to my own cooking. read more

Second review and same rating! The staff here is so nice and friendly and the food is outstanding. Again, we came here twice in our 2 day trip to Blue Ridge. This time, I tried the Rainbow Trout with 2 sides and the other visit, I got the Vegetable Plate. Also, the Bread Pudding was very good. My parents got the Cheeseburger in one visit and the Chicken Tenders and Shrimp & Grits in the other visit. They loved all of it. My husband got the Fried Chicken and the Country Fried Steak. He said it was very good, but he liked their fried chicken better. It can be a little loud in the dining area when it's busy, but it's not unbearable. Great place and highly recommend! read more

Southern Charm Restaurant continues to impress me every time I visit. I've eaten here several times, and it's consistently a fantastic experience. The service is warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you step in. The food is everything you'd hope for in true Southern comfort cooking -- flavorful, hearty, and made with care. Their fried green tomatoes are absolutely wonderful, perfectly seasoned and crisp. And the shrimp and grits? Simply amazing. It's one of those dishes that keeps you coming back again and again. If you're looking for delicious comfort food paired with great service, Southern Charm Restaurant is definitely a place you don't want to miss. read more

We had a great meal! My husband felt sure that "somebody's Meemaw was cookin' in the kitchen". The cream corn was as good as my grandmother used to make! Service was fantastic, I was greeted almost immediately upon entering the door. After being shown to my table the server was there rather quickly taking my drink order and inquiring if I had any questions of menu items. After placing my order the server brought out a very delicious biscuit and apple butter. I hadn't finished that before my meal was on my table, the staff timing is perfect. My drink never was empty as the server checked by a few times after my meal was brought out. Prices across the menu seems very good in these times where restaurants have almost priced themselves out of business The restaurant definitely has a warm and welcoming feel. Plenty as dining area with a generous space between tables and booths. The noise level was on the quiet side and you could have conversations without having to talk loudly to be heard. Definitely a restaurant I will return to my next time I'm in this quaint town read more

Excellent service. Shrimp and grits lacked any real distinguishing flavor. Hamburger steak and gravy was mediocre. Pretty pricy for what you get. read more

Host was super friendly. The description of the fried chicken suggested it had homemade spices with a lot of flavor. There was no flavor at all and the chicken was overcooked. Mozzarella balls were delicious. Fried shrimp and trout were great too. read more

This is true southern charm. You can sit on the front porch while you wait for a table. We waited about 10-15 minutes. Inside is an old beautiful home. Service is so friendly and talkative. This was a birthday dinner for my wife who requested anything but a chain restaurant. The host was very pleasant to speak to. Once we were sat within 5 minutes of arrival, the service was very attentive. She suggested a couple things on the menu. We went with the fried chicken and meatloaf entrees! These dishes were phenomenal. We highly recommend the peach cobbler as well. read more

We were so glad to find this gem! The fried chicken tenders were amazing - battered and fried to perfection. The fried green tomato BLT was tasty and very filling. Sides did not disappoint - sweet potato fries were very good as were the red mashed potatoes. I especially liked the "lite" menu option - definitely filling and can't be beat for the serving size and price. The atmosphere is southern charm at it's best. read more

Yummy comfort food! The biscuits and apple butter were a delicious way to start our meal. We had a party of 4 and arrived shortly after they opened and were seated promptly. The hostess and our waitress were very friendly. The special of the day was chicken and dumplings and they were so good. You could tell the dumplings were made from scratch! The grilled trout was cooked to perfection and all the sides were very tasty. The places filled up quickly and there was a wait by 12 noon. Found this place thanks to Yelp! I was visiting the area and stumbled upon this restaurant with great reviews and just knew we HAD to go! Located in Downtown Blue Ridge which is the cutest downtown! Parking can be tricky but we were able to find a free spot behind the restaurant. We got there at around noon and my family of 6 was seated in less than 10 mins. Not to mention the cutie seating area we waited in out front! Once inside I was delighted to see it was cute on the inside too! Bright and open and plenty of space for my family. Our waitress was the sweetest and super patient as we got our orders in. I ordered the cheesy ricotta cheese dip which was soooooo good! Not just the cheese dip but the fresh pita chips it came with were amazing too! Seriously, couldn't get enough of the chips we ordered another side of chips while there and another side of chips to go! I could just eat the pita chips all day they were so fresh and delicious! For entrees I got the fried green tomato burger which I was pretty excited about but the patty missed the mark for me. I wish it was seasoned a little bit more. Had it not came with the tomato, cheese, onion and bacon that I added this burger probably would've been sent back. For my side, I ordered collard greens with were so delicious and flavorful we all enjoyed them! One of my girls ordered the cheese burger sliders from the kids menu and she wasn't feeling it either so maybe next time we'll avoid ordering burgers. As a big chicken fan, my husband had the fried chicken platter which he enjoyed very much and my other girls had the deep friend chicken bites from the kids menu which they raved over as well. I'd definitely go back again and get some chicken next time instead of a burger. I gave this place 4 stars had it not been for the bland burgers it would've been a 5 bc everything else was great! read more

I came on a rainy Thursday evening around 7PM and the restaurant was mostly empty. It's a charming and cute southern house turned into a restaurant. We were seated right away and our waiter came not too long after. She was super friendly, took our drinks and food orders. As she took our orders, she commented that we were ordering her favorite items from the menu (a very good sign). Biscuits and apple butter came shortly after and they are delectable. I devoured mine in no time. I ordered the smothered chicken with onion mushroom gravy + hash brown casserole + southern green beans. My SIL ordered the fried chicken (all dark meat ofc) + collard greens + corn. We waited a bit for our items but it's understandable since both items involved deep frying the chickens. The breading on the chicken is OUTTA this world. Just SO GOOD! read more

Delicious homestyle cooked comfort food. Highly recommend anything fried chicken (they have a western seasoning In the batter and it's delicious). The service is good and they can accommodate parties but there may be a wait. It's in a cute old home- no outdoor seating. We had a family of eight that eight here on two different occasions and it is extremely affordable. You will not find a better restaurant in town for the price and quality. read more

Delicious Shrimp & grits, wonderful biscuits, friendly staff. First time there, wish I lived here and could go back!

Our server, Andrew, proved the Southern Charm name of this restaurant true! Our best meal of the Blue Ridge visit and worth the 45m wait! We had fired mushrooms appetizer, chicken tender meal, fried catfish po'boy, and 4 veggie plate with plain sweet potato and broccoli, and a salad (to which I added my own seitan). Most of the items , true to Southern cooking, contained butter, milk, or meat of some type, but our server was SUPER helpful and informative with what this vegan girl could get and made sure I was taken care of. Our waters were constantly filled and we left completely stuffed, with leftovers, for a great price. Thanks for a GREAT meal! read more
