I came with my family when we were in town a few weeks back. Everything was great, my family enjoyed the meals they ordered. I got French fries and Brussels sprouts because those were the only vegan options there. I'm grateful for something, but I wish there had been a little more of an option for me. Amazing as always. This is our go to spot in blue ridge and it never disappoints. Steak sandwiches was great. Fuji salad is light and refreshing but still feels like a hearty meal. fightingtown Tavern became a tradition for my wife and I every time we came to Blue Ridge. The mini-mammoth and special drinks were a must and we always recommended the place to everyone who asked us for places to go in the town. sadly, it all got spoiled by one bartender the last time we stopped by. The place was somewhat busy but we've seen busier. I asked for a beer and my wife asked for the mango drink.. from that moment, all we heard from the bartender (a rocker-like male) was huffing and puffing plus making comments under his breath.. I guess chopping a few mangoes was too much. The customer next to us, who had struck a nice conversation, looked startled himself, saying the bartender was always nice and must have been in a bad mood. We felt so uncomfortable that when I ordered the usual mini-mammot, I asked first if it wasn't too much trouble. Needless to say, we have not been back since.. we may stop by in the future but I'll make sure this guy is not the bartender. Good food and truly a tavern style experience. I personally loved the music. Our kids enjoyed the arcade. They warned us they were short on staff as many called out. However it didn't falter our experience we waited and our waitress was still attentive. Will be back again. My wife and I both had the club as we were in a hurry to make a train ride. We came here on a whim after apple picking at nearby Mercier and there was a festival going on which had some increased traffic but there was no wait on a Saturday for a late lunch /early dinner I'm currently dealing with a dairy/soy allergy for my baby so I can't have either of those and our server was very patient with me. I had many questions about everything on the menu and she kept having to go back and forth with the kitchen ... They said their thousand island has dairy which is the first place I've seen to do that so I ended up getting the Cuban sandwich, no cheese. It was a good sandwich, not as good as I'd had in key West but it was great for the area! My family all seemed to enjoy their entrees too but I didn't take pictures of their food They give you a huge portion of home fries as a side and I ended up sharing mine with my brother beside me. They have a decently sized outdoor seating area as well I didn't care for the extremely loud music playing, because you couldn't really even talk over it esp since the place wasn't even crowded so it seemed unnecessary. I put my baby's noise blocked on and he managed to sleep through it luckily. There were a few other families present as well with kids so it is family friendly even though it's a tavern Parking is street, paid lots and a few free lots. Walked in for lunch around Noon on a Saturday and the four of us were seated right away. Great service during our entire visit, and they were even kind enough to change the tv channel for us so that we could watch a live soccer game. The playlist they had going was rock/metal and it was a little loud, but it was definitely the vibe they were going for after looking at the menu and some of the menu item names. Also makes sense with the name "Fightingtown Tavern." I was torn between the Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese and the Danzig Dog, but I ended up going with the hot dog and I'm glad I did! It's 100% Kobe beef, and literally the biggest hot dog I've ever seen. It's basically a foot-long size dog but it was cooked to perfection. I started off but cutting it in thirds so it was easier to pick up and eat, and our waitress was kind enough to bring me all the toppings/dips. I had raw chopped onions on it, as well as ketchup, mustard, and house-made relish which was delicious. I didn't think I would finish it, but I did because it was that good! Wish I snapped a pic before diving in but I was just too hungry and excited as soon as it hit the table. Fightingtown is pretty popular, so we had to put our name down and then wait about an hour so I recommend going and putting a name down as soon as possible! Once we were able to be seated, our staff was really attentive and food was served relatively quickly. I loved the music themed decor + menu. I wasn't particularly enthused by the local beer choices and ended up trying a local cider. We also ordered chips and salsa which was fresh and homemade. For dinner, I had the twisted taco special which was a mahi mahi taco that day! I had a side of elote with it as well. The taco and elote were actually so delicious!! This place has been one of my favorites this trip we've gone twice this week here both times amazing!! The fish and chips are seriously the best I've ever had! The fries are so freaking good! We had fish n chips( enormous it was literally the size of my forearm) nachos, jack Daniel's burger and kids tenders. The service was so fast. We were told 45 min wait but only waited 15 mins. The server was so sweet. She was working a double and got triple sat but never skipped a beat. Drinks were always filled, table was clear of dirty dishes. The inside is a fun bar/ restaurant vibe. Manager TeelA truly went above and beyond--working hard, checking in with guests, and ensuring everyone was well taken care of. Fightingtown Tavern is really good for finger food. It's your typical bar. I got the pick your own burger with sautéed mushrooms and American cheese which was pretty good. Searched all over for a dog friendly place with good options and this was it! Their back patio is spacious and dog friendly. They even provide size appropriate water bowls which was cute. Food was delicious. We got the "mini mammoth" which are their nachos and everything about them was delicious. Fresh jalapeños and white beer cheese with spicy chili really made the dish. Hostesses and waitress were prompt and brought water after our disappointment. A tip ask what they are out of before deciding what to order. We wanted the cheesesteak but they were out. So we ordered the rotating tacos. The brisket and kimchee worked really well together. My son got a burger. He enjoyed it. Then main dishes were really good. The sides were a different story. Looking for a place to have a quick drink while waiting for dinner options to open, my friends and I decided to pop into here. There are tables on their patio that has a ceiling to block out most of the strong UV rays. To expand on their otherwise truncated bar, they have rocking chairs in the back to enjoy your drinks while still on property but enjoying the fresh air. Hostesses were super kind but one of the bartenders didn't seem to go out of her way of welcoming us. Its a decently full bar with a fair amount of beers on draft.
