Their food actually gets 2 stars, but the service, ambience & the nice view increases it to 3 stars overall. They had live music the night we were there (it was a Friday). We had Korean BBQ wings, Pork & lemongrass dumplings, pimento crab dip & margherita pizza. Everything tasted bland. The pizza & crab dip was ok after I added salt & pepper. The Korean bbq wings did not taste very Korean. The dumplings were the best out of the 4 dishes, but it still wasn't that great. The view from up here is BEAUTIFUL though! I had an espresso martini (I asked for no cream or Bailey's), and that was good. The music here was also good. They had a musician here who was also good. Situated in the Hampton Inn Blue Ridge hotel (see my review on that hot mess), Hook and Eye was a less-than-stellar experience. our server, a young woman, was absolutely devoid of any kindness or personality, and just going through the motions. some reviews stated that Hook and Eye had menu items for dogs, but that turned out not to be true. The restaurant itself was noisy and busy, and the seating was uncomfortable. but what I will say is I ordered the chicken ceasar wrap and it was actually really good. but serving Lays potato chips and calling them "tavern chips" is actually a major stretch. you could go a bit further and serve a more-creative starch on the side with sandwiches. overall, just kind of a meh experience when we were hoping for something better. also, note: Hampton Inn does NOT consider Hook and Eye diners as guests of their hotel, so you will not be allowed to park there. read more

Waitress chasity has rocks in her brains. We were a table of 6, got two appetizers, all water, etc. Took 50 mins just for her to bring out everyone's food except mine. What did I order? A HOUSE SALAD. One of the men at the table said "thank you" and she gladly went "mhm!!" and when I said thank you, she didnt even look at me and just walked away. Rudest service ive ever seen and all of the food was extremely mid. She barely spoke to the women at the table and really only talked to the men. Super awkward and uncomfortable. Had a wonderful evening at the Lookout! My wife and I thought we would try out the lounge at the Hampton Inn. When we entered we were greeted with a smile and found seats at the bar. The nice woman behind the bar, Kacie, took our drink order and promptly provided us with deliciously made cocktails. We had already eaten dinner but she offered some recommendations from their food menu. I ordered some pretzel bites which arrived hot and delicious within a few minutes. Can't wait to go back and try a few more things. The atmosphere was great and the gentleman playing guitar and singing our favorite songs made for quite an enjoyable evening. ONLY REASON THIS IS A 2 STAR AND NOT A 1 STAR IS BECAUSE OF THE GREAT LIVE SINGER- he saved this restaurant honestly we went here because we ran out of other options & it was convention while staying at the Hampton Inn but it was absolutely not worth the price we paid for it. There is no way you can call this a restaurant, the menu has such odd choices and out of our 3 different meals we chose we all settled with "why do you eat? to fill the hole!" appetizer- the soft pretzel bites were good but you cant mess up a pretzel and for 12$ it was barley enough of an appetizer for 3 people bbq sandwich- pretty average just a little dry & definitely messy to eat (best part was the pickles) chicken caesar wrap- beyond average but the chicken taste like it was frozen & thrown in the microwave korean bbq wings- bare minimum for an average wing, definitely frozen DOESN'T COME WITH A SIDE (16$ for i'm not even joking 6 TINY wings, not even filling) the side salad is all leafs with a 3$ up-charge instead of kettle chips, YEP this place doesn't even have french fries desserts- DO NOT ORDER THE CHEESECAKE EGG ROLLS- they sound good but were the most disappointing, a fried egg-roll shell with a cold inside which doesn't even taste like cheesecake (we didn't even want to finish these they were that bad but we paid 10$ for these 2 SMALL egg-rolls ) the donut holes were pretty good but you cant mess up fried dough (12 tiny dough balls for 9$) overall, would not recommend unless you are out of options like we were :) p.s. would share pics but it was so disappointing it wasn't even a thought read more

I came on the 24th to a local event here. I rang the front desk to ask that the gate be opened so I could park. He informed me that even though I was going to spend money on food and drinks at the bar, I could not park in their lot and that it was only guests. I was going to be a guest in the bar for a couple of hours. He wasn't just rude, he was nasty about it. I went to the event but kept my cash in my pocket and spent nothing. Sigh. read more

All I can say is wow! The view is simply amazing. I can honestly say this is the best spot in blue ridge. It's nestled on the 5th floor of the Hampton inn with a rooftop patio. The service is outstanding to say the least. The food.....man the food is like a little slice of heaven with heavy gas to follow. But super tasty to say the least. Top Floor of Hampton Inn Blue Ridge. Our Stay gave us 10% off coupon during entire Stay. The rooftop dining is great bar real nice. Margarita's were perfect. Our server was attentive. Sorry to say the soup special Chicken and Rice soup was bland and watery. Chicken Salad Sandwich was blah too. Worst Iced tea I ever had. Underwhelmed. It's a cool spot, not denying that. The food, not so much. I ordered the buffalo chicken flatbread and my husband ordered the burger. The flatbread only had tiny little bits of chicken and sparse at that. The end pieces had no chicken at all. My husband asked for his burger medium rare. It's clear this is a frozen patty and you don't get a choice. It wasn't dressed with any lettuce or tomato, onion, pickle etc. Definitely not worth the price. So it does have a good view of Blue Ridge... inside & outside seating. Service was pretty good, there was only one server for the restaurant at the time so under the circumstances it was good. For my first Wagyu burger it wasn't anything special. Burger comes as is without a temperature preference. The toppings were fresh though and bun was toasted well. Not having the tots was a negative though because it would have paired great. Instead it was coleslaw & potato salad. Overall pretty good, but imo not worth $16 for a Wagyu burger. Staying in the hotel 30th wedding anniversary. First night with a late start so we thought we would stay close. Went up at 8:45 and they close at 10. Not very crowded . Sat at the bar with maybe 2 others for probably 6-8 minutes without a look. Moved to a table . After about 5 minutes stopped a server who said she'd be back with us shortly. Another guy who looks to maybe be a manager walks by without a look. 6-8 minutes later we leave. Nowhere else to eat in this town after 9.
