Was excited to try this spot visiting Ellijay this time and waited in line for it to open at 5 for dinner. Service was below par and lacking any empathy or urgency to fix it. Food arrived and cheesesteak sandwich's was underwhelming as it was a small size 6 inch sandwich likely. The country fried steak was okay and very peppery now than usually. Squash casserole had more onions than squash. The ravioli was okay and nothing memorable but they were large and fully stuffed overall which is nice. I'd describe it as "fine." We came in for lunch on a Friday and we were seated quickly but it took over 30 minutes from when we ordered to when our food arrived. It looked great on the plate, but it was lacking. The pimento cheese burger was tough and chewy - the pimento cheese was good but I think they piled it on to hide the taste of the burger itself. My wife had the salad plate and was not overly impressed either. The sweet potatoes were extremely sweet and neither of us liked them. The regular fries were over seasoned and definitely needed ketchup to make them passable. Cute place to come for lunch. My husband and I stopped in today for a quick lunch date while the kids were at VBS. We found parking quickly in the circle outside though if you aren't lucky there is ample parking down side streets or in the public lot. We were seated right away. I loved the inside. The wood, brick, and iron lighting was beautiful and really honored the buildings history. Very charming. Gracie was our server, she was very sweet and attentive. It was a cool day, but we still enjoyed the patio with heaters nearby. There isn't a lot on the menu for those with a vegetarian preference, but what we ordered turned out to be pretty good. VERY Disappointing!! I am a multiple restaurant owner in another town and my review is a well educated opinion. Spinach salad was past due, with No blue cheese or Bacon that I could find! Did not eat it! Chicken salad was an added protein and was unrecognizable and resembled cat food because of its mush-like consistency and tasted even worse! Did not eat it! I then ordered a BLT, something so simple to prepare. Bread was not even toasted, it was drenched in mayo and overall was soggy and mushy. My husband ordered tuna salad and it was also inedible! Cantaberry is an adorable little restaurant. We were in the area to go to a local apple farm, but decided to check out the quaint little town of Ellijay and grab some lunch from a local restaurant before we went and picked apples. My friends - having lived in Atlanta for a number of years - had been to Cantaberry before, and highly recommended it. Our servers were friendly and attentive despite how busy it was. We did end up having to wait about an hour for a table, but luckily they take your phone number and text you so you can go wander the shops around town. I opted for the turkey, bacon avocado sandwich on sourdough bread (deli sliced turkey, crispy, bacon, sliced avocado, topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, and ranch dressing) it was delicious! Great sandwiches sometimes. I went on successive days and had the Ruben both times. First time was excellent. The best Ruben I've had in years. Second time the pastrami was cold in the middle and they left off the Russian dressing. Our greater was also rude when We arrived, asking whether we were on their waitlist and then making us stand outside for ten minutes, before ultimately seating us at the table we had originally sat down at on the patio. First off, I am a very strong supporter of small businesses, especially being an owner of a small business myself. We have eaten at this restaurant many times in the past, food has always been great but that's not the problem. The last two times we have tried to eat here we have been told they aren't seating any more tables an hour before their closing time. We specifically called earlier in the day to make sure we would be seated and served if we showed up an hour before closing. Obviously the restaurant's concern is not for the repeat loyal customers but the tourists who don't care and will just move on to the next restaurant. Sorry Cantaberry, but we won't be back. You just lost a loyal customer. Sadly, I'm sure we won't be the last with this type of customer service. read more
