I had the smoked sausage, eggs and potatoes with cheese and onions and biscuit w/gravy. I'm a pretty good cook and cook for taste, so it's hard to beat a home cooked breakfast with fresh veggies but this place is right up there!! This cozy café is a quaint breakfast and lunch spot. It has a mismatch of tables and chairs which makes it somewhere you want to settle in for a nice home-cooked meal. The coffee... even without real cream, it was delicious. The corned beef hash was unique in that it was cooked with small chunks of onion a top a bed of breakfast potatoes. It was really tasty and not too salty. My eggs were extra large and cooked to my liking. My husband liked the cheesesteak with amazing wedge cut potatoes. He would get it again. My teenager got the pork chop and eggs. She doesn't like pork and therefore doesn't eat it so I'm not even going to try to write anything about it other than it looked thin but good. The service was great- she brought refills when needed and checked on us frequently. We'll come back to because I really want to try the Vietnamese coffee and there are definitely other intriguing menu items. Our only complaint is the parking situation has gotten worse in downtown Ellijay so if the weather is at questionable, we may not make the long trip from Pickens County. read more

We decided on the cornerstone cafe in Ellijay this morning, for breakfast! Another quaint little cafe off main street. The restaurant was decorated very nicely for Christmas. Our server Lilly (cute Elf) was awesome and attentive, even though the restaurant was busy! The hostess seated us promptly, by the nice fireplace and graciously took our photo. Both of our meals were delivered promptly and cooked nicely , the food was delicious and served hot. The restaurant was clean and all the staff was pleasant despite how busy they were. While in town on business we happened upon the Cornerstone Cafe on a busy Saturday morning. The Apple festival was taking place just down the road so business was booming. Though the restaurant is small and there was a wait, we were seated immediately because of the available bar seats. Our server Lily was the sweetest. Literally exactly what you would expect in a small town diner or cafe. We loved her. And then there was the food. From now on, every biscuit will be judged in comparison to the biscuit at cornerstone. The biscuit was so perfect, that I commented on it with each bite. The gravy that accompanied it was just as delicious. The grits were outstanding and required no addition of salt or cheese. The omelette was good but the fact that bacon bits were used instead of actually chopped bacon strips was disappointing. I scraped as many out as I could. The taste was definitely imitation. Came to cornerstone Cafe for breakfast. We came with a bunch of our family on a vacation. Our table consisted of a lot of kids, too. We were greeted by the staff and they took our ordered. The eggs Benedict were absolutely delicious. & so was the biscuits and gravy! I ordered an orange juice that was okay. On our way to our cabin in Georgia, we stopped in Ellijay for breakfast. Cornerstone Cafe is a quaint breakfast spot with delicious homemade breakfast. My fiancé, his dad and I had breakfast here. Our server was wonderful and made some recommendations. She was very friendly. The owner even came out to check on us. Everyone at the restaurant, the diners, seem to know each other. It's that hometown feel. We loved it so much, we brought in our family, a party of 12 for breakfast the next day. Everyone enjoyed their breakfast. I never leave bad reviews but here it goes: First time here, sat down outside at 9:00, no drinks or service until around 9:45, At which point we went in to check in and make sure they didn't forget us. Waitress didn't come and take the order until 10. Order was brought out around 10:30. Asked to speak with the manager to just figure out what happened and the waitress said "why". Enough said, the food was slightly above average and not worth the wait. Hard to keep customers when there's no ownership over issues with service. read more

Love this cute little find! My husband and I stayed in a cabin in Blue Ridge and on the way home wanted to stop somewhere local for breakfast. We found this place on the way out of town and it was perfect. Quick service, cozy atmosphere, very good food! Perfect little diner. This was a cute cafe with live music. The food was delicious when it finally came. It was a "seat yourself" establishment, which can be a challenge for quick service. This was no different. We sat for about 15 minutes before being offered drinks, then waited quite a bit more for our food order. The waitress was all over the place, brought lemonades for water refills and charged us for them although they were never ordered or drank by us. We didn't even realize they were lemonades until the bill said we had OJ and we questioned it where we were told that was for the lemonade.....lol. So someone didn't get their lemonade! We were also charged separately for fries with sandwiches that the menu said came with them. So....all that said.... Good: Food was delicious!!! And reasonable (after they removed the extra charges) Needs improvement: Seating is TIGHT. Tiny place with way too many tables squeezed in. We have always enjoyed coming here for breakfast. But since they started offering pho (and they're the only place within 50 miles that does), we have made a point to come much more often. The service is always friendly, and the pho is always hot and filling! They are also trying to build their winter dinner business by offering comfort foods on Monday and Tuesdays like pot roast and hearty stews. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with their food. The restaurant is a small spot with not much room for people to wait to be seated. There's about 7 tables or so. We came in & had to add our name to a waiting list. There was about 5 other parties listed ahead of us & we only waited about 25 minutes (which isn't bad). We had some business to attend to in Ellijay. As we veered back home we opted to stop at a local diner on Main Street USA. Such a cute little town, walkable, eccentric, gives off an artistic vibe. This lil restaurant provided the needed refill as we left the house with no breakfast and A cup of coffee. Simple menu, big on portion sizes and flavor. Biscuits are tender and flaky as one would expect all slathered with the country gravy. I opted similar with two eggs over easy with cheese and bacon bits. Very filling but delish. As we looked around a musician was setting up his guitar for the mornings melody. If you have abs opportunity to stop here, do so. It's worth it. read more

Food was delicious I ate every bite. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture. I had the apple fritter meal and it was perfect! Mom had the strawberry French toast and loved that as well. Attention!!! Please come here at night time for Vietnamese Pho (noodle soup)!! Cornerstone Cafe has amazing new owners. They do breakfast during the day as usual. Then in the evenings they convert to Pho. I think from 2 or 3pm to 7pm. Call for details as they are still figuring out hours. The menu is limited but what they do have is perfection. They offer beef pho with flank, ribeye and meatball. And they also offer a vegetable pho with tofu. Both are incredible, the broth is so flavorful. Get the egg rolls! They do also offer Vietnamese sandwiches but we didn't get a chance to try those yet. Boba milk tea and Vietnamese iced coffee are so good. They put so much love and care into everything they put out. Chris and Kelly are representing an unspoken for community up here in Ellijay. I was in town for vacation and ended up coming across this little café. It is definitely a little quiet during the weekdays, but the food was delicious and hot. The service was great and our food came out very quickly, although we were only one of three couples in the restaurant. I had the lucky seven breakfast and my bacon was cooked perfectly and my pancakes were just your normal standard buttermilk's worth pancake pancakes. I would eat here again. read more

Wonderful cafe downtown. We arrived for brunch and gave our name and number for the wait list. Received a call about 30 min later but there are plenty of shops around to pop into while you wait. What a gem! The staff is a well oiled machine. Nobody stopped moving the entire time we were there. We got the omelet of the day that was LOADED with veggies-tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms, feta, cheddar, and zucchini. It came with a biscuit, gravy, and potatoes. Portions were large- definitely get your money's worth. Everything was hot, fresh, and tasted wonderful! We also got an order of the apple bread French toast, and it was absolutely delicious! Are you looking for good food, friendly service, and an all around good breakfast experience? Well keep looking because this is not the place for that. Upon arrival today it wasn't too busy there were several empty tables but the staff seemed pretty flustered already. We had to grab our own highchair which was ok but there was no where to put it and then one of the servers acted irritated that we got the highchair. My son is two he very obviously needs a highchair. Food took 20+ minutes and after watching everyone around us get their food my son starts to get upset so I act if his pancake could be done sooner so it wasn't going to turn into a full meltdown. The same server not even our server was very very rude about it and basically said you'll get it when you get it. Luckily the food came out not too long after. Unluckily it was awful. The gravy had a strange taste, the biscuits were hard, country fried steak have no flavor at all, omelet have half cooked veggies inside, and last of all the potatoes were not remotely salted didn't have any flavor. When going to leave the same old lady decided to push her way past me and my son as we were walking out the door rubbing her dirty rag that she had been wiping tables with across my arm. Clearly they wanted us there even less than we wanted to be there. I guess that "small town feel" is just rudeness and crappy food. read more
