Being that this was my first visit, I had to try the very popular pecan bar. I also decided to try one of the cute churro cupcakes. The owners, Jennifer and Charity, we're friendly and welcoming. They greeted me as soon as I entered their shop, and they graciously answered all of my questions. As I was getting ready to depart, I noticed that they also have a large tea room for private parties. It looks like the perfect atmosphere for a British high tea with Victorian looking décor. On the other side of the wall there's an entire book store that is part of the business. It had one of the most impressive collections I've seen in a bookstore in awhile. It wasn't huge but it had a great variety of genres, and a lot of intriguing titles I hadn't heard of but sought to remember for later. The man working the register was a charm- he told us how Ellijay has their own tv production (which they were playing on an old school tv), a special Bigfoot podcast and more. Lastly, the coffee was, of course, delightful. I had a latte with a little bit of spice in it that was perfect to warm a person up in the cool early spring air when we were there. We still have a few more bakeries on our calendar to try, but Kali's Kakes is a top contender for sure. Kali herself was very kind and helpful through the process of us planning our tasting. My fiancé drove 2 hours to collect the samples and we tried them as soon as I got home from work. We tried the Victorian Wedding Cake, Death By Chocolate, Chocolate Mocha, Strawberry, and Dulce de Leche. They were packaged up so neatly and cutely! We loved our tasting! My favorite was the Victorian since it's that classic almond cake with raspberry filling, closely followed by my fiancé's favorite which was the Strawberry. That one honestly blew us away. It tasted just like biting into a strawberry. Next fave would have to be Dulce de Leche! Everything was so yummy. We ate it all in just a couple days time. Looking at her website of cake photos, you can see how incredibly talented she is. It appears she can make any wedding cake dream design a reality! Her pricing is extremely reasonable.
