After eating lunch, 9 of us walked to Happy Bear for some ice cream & we weren't the only ones with that idea. It was SO crowded! More on that in a bit... They had a lot of flavors to choose from. Because I was trying to be good , I got the Sugar Free Turtle Sundae in a small bowl, which was about 2 scoops. It was pretty good for sugar free ice cream. It had pecans & chocolate/caramel swirls. My husband got a Peanut Butter Twirl cone. I didn't see the cannolis in the cabinet next to the cash register until we were paying. They looked great! In the time we were there (from 1:00-1:30 pm), I bet there were 50+ customers in and out. I say that because there was only one poor girl working & she was doing everything: scooping the ice cream & ringing up the sales & she had a great attitude the entire time. One woman ahead of us had snarky comments to the employee but she handled it well. I don't know how she did it. I would've lost my patience. It was a great place & if we're back in McCaysville, we'll definitely be back.

The chocolate sauce is your basic hersheys chocolate sauce (I don't recommend if you like the taste of real chocolate) It was delicious and big enough to split! The girls at the counter were very friendly and let us sample a few of the ice cream flavors.

I sent some idea photos and what I got was beyond perfect. Simple. Lovely. Perfect. THEN I ate the cake! A vanilla cake. Like what can you expect but OMG! It's a vanilla like I've never had. This is stab your granny for the recipe good! Honest! My hubby has NO sweet tooth but he gorged this down like a starving man eating slabs! It became a competition of who can eat more before it's gone! And now--well Everytime we are up we get a small cake and indulge. Even if we are just popping through the cupcake version is just as amazing. Look, I have no idea what is in this vanilla but it's AMAZING. You tell ME how they take vanilla cake- as basic as it gets- and turn it to incredible. I'm not even going to talk about everything else I've had I. The shop since then like macaroons, cinnamon rolls, that s'mores cupcake (drool). I'm just goi g to say Go! You will not regret it and whoever you bring treats home to will feel loved! But don't blame me if you get addicted to them because this is the best- hands down.

I loved their variety of fun drink flavors available they even had a special fall menu. I ordered a cinnamon dolce iced chai and a birthday cake macaron, both were delicious! They had a line almost out the door but they were very efficient and quick to serve us all. They had a couple small tables available to sit at and a bench outside that was nice to people watch from!

They have a cafe/bakery where you can purchase pies, turnovers and donuts. Unless you have a handicap parking permit, it's quite a hike to park. There are so many wonderful goodies to browse. Of course, we couldn't leave without stopping at the bakery for some delicious treats and a cup of fresh, hot apple cider! The only downside was the chaos created by the tour buses loading and unloading passengers right at the front entrance. It makes an already busy area even more congested and a bit hectic to navigate. It would be nice if they had a designated area away from the main entrance for the buses. Other than that, we had a wonderful time! Such a fun way to spend a beautiful fall day. If you're in the Blue Ridge area during apple season, Mercier Orchards is definitely worth a visit!

First, Julie is almost always there and when she isn't, her daughter is. They are warm and welcoming. We have seen very little change in waitstaff over several years and have been told she is great to her employees. That isn't surprising, given that Julie's Christian values are strong. You will love the atmosphere, where the decor is antique and filled with sunflowers and old trucks. Notice the cashier's desk when you enter! Julie serves Southern comfort foods that we southerners grew up eating. Everything is fresh and cooked onsite. We love this place!! We can be found there at least twice monthly!

As we waited we listed to one of the staff complaining that wasn't a great sign. As we were being seated, we noticed all the cute decor! Someone took a lot of time to make the place look so cute! The waitress was super attentive! Hubby ordered the special, a Meatball sandwich and I ordered a salad with fried chicken tenders... I had to cheat a little bit. That Fried Chicken was calling my name! The food came out after a little bit of a wait. I completely understand because the chicken was fresh. But my poor hubby got a mess of a sandwich. It appears they made the sandwich and it sat while the chicken cooked. It was a soppy soggy mess. The bread was drenched and completely mush. He said the French Fries weren't much better. I asked him if he could eat just the meatballs and he picked up them each up with a fork and each and everyone of them were completely black on one side. Totally burned. Boy I felt bad because my chicken was delicious! This is the reason I added two stars. We went to pay, my husband leaving his hot mess in his plate. The owner was at the cash register, I found this out because she answered the phone while checking us out (stating her name was Julie). She was in such a mood, she was rude to the person on the phone placing an orderIn fact she was even rude to us, she scared the bjesus out of me....so we didn't say a word. I sure didn't want to complain and start an altercation . Hubby will never go back. He was not happy at all. I might go back, maybe with a friend and hope next time is better ‍ Possibly everyone was having a bad day? It was not crowded when we dined, as it was around 2:30pm. We thought this would be an asset, but we were wrong. Here is hoping it was an off day for them. Dine at your own risk my friends. Stay away from soggy sandwiches! Go for the fried chicken
