Finally tried this place. I don't know why I waited so long. First off it's cafeteria style with meats, vegetables, desserts and a salad bar. A few choices of meats(which may change daily) and numerous vegetables. I had the fried chicken(it was a good sized breast), hash brown casserole and baby carrots, along with my choice of cornbread. The chicken was pretty darn good. The hash brown casserole was the best I've ever had. The carrots were sweet and excellent. Cornbread was tasty. Price was a little below normal for a local lunch. It cost me $10. I would recommend the Double L and would frequent it even more if they made it a buffet. read more

Been here for breakfast and lunch and both are delicious. It's the best "meat and two" restaurant in Ellijay. Always fresh and tasty. Also, their salad bar is delicious with just enough options without being overwhelmed. Definitely my favorite homemade biscuit for breakfast in Ellijay as well. Great variety and their omelettes are also fantastic overfilled with generous toppings of your choice. There are two factors that prevents a 5 star rating from me. 1) they serve Pepsi products. Sorry, I'm a Diet Coke guy all the way. 2) there limited hours. Never open for dinner and breakfast is ONLY served on Saturday mornings. It's a shame that a place this good is so hard to get to with such limited hours. The Double L is a meat and three place with homemade food and desserts that are familiar and altogether good. Meat selections on my visit were pretty much the usual suspects with fried chicken and meatloaf but they also had a couple of fish options, chicken tenders, pot roast and I think there was a chicken casserole. The vegetable selections included Mac and cheese, green beans, and several other options but I cannot remember right now. Desserts looked and tasted homemade and they had a good selection of options available including several pies and I think two cobblers. I had fried chicken; tasty and would get it again without question. Lot of meat on the bird and the breading appeared to be a corn meal style that was nicely seasoned and well cooked. I got the Mac and Cheese and green beans; Mac and cheese was nothing remarkable but still ate all of it, just didn't stand out. Green beans were cooked perfectly to me so that means they were falling apart with lots of flavor. Got the corn muffin for my bread; they had a choice of breads including corn muffins and biscuits, I didn't care for the corn muffin. It would have needed a stick of butter to make it taste anything other that Sahara desert dry. For dessert I got the peach cobbler but my wife got the apple pie. She chose wisely. The cobbler is more of a dump style cobbler with lots of cobbler and a little fruit mixed into the cobbler where as I prefer a little cobbler on top of a lot of fruit filling. The taste was okay but again nothing special. The apple pie was delicious with a flaky crust and apple slices that had a wonderful cinnamon flavor and had just the right amount of firmness. My takeaway is the fried chicken, green beans and apple pie are wonderful but the rest was good but not as good as it should have been. Would I go back? Heck yeah but would try a few other items to add to the proven winners that I found. If you find yourself in Elijay and want a good southern meal then the Double L is a winner winner chicken dinner. read more

After the 3rd 'no breakfast' I heard from local restaurants, I decided that I just could not get a fresh egg, bacon, and cheese biscuit at 2pm on a sat afternoon in Ellijay to save my life... until I went into the Double L. Menu board up front was pretty explanatory with a 'no breakfast after (? I forget)' sign, so I saunter to the back to ask the staff just where I could get this egg, cheese, and bacon biscuit I'd been searching for... One of the owners, 'L' heard my plight and after a brief convo about breaking the rules, she and her gracious staff supplied me with the best egg, cheese, and bacon biscuit I ever had. Ellijay is lucky to have the 'Double L' feeding and loving this community right! read more

Came to the new location, where the Davis House was. Sorry but I'm not a fan of a restaurant that doesn't post prices. No where in the ordering area was there a price list. It's all point n pick they scoop it on your plate. You get to the register n each item is rung up ala carte. I did ask price of AYCE salad bar n it was $8.99!!! Darn that's Ruby Tuesday prices but they at least have 52 items on there bar. This one was small. I can go just about any where local n beyond for meat n 3 w/drink for much less then here. Did seem to have a loyal following cause everyone knew everyone. Sorry folks I just like to pretty much know what my bill will be before it's rung up. We heard good things about this restaurant, went in for Sunday lunch. it is served cafeteria style, but good home cooking at unbelievable prices. I chose the pot roast with mashed potatoes and my husband got fried chicken, mashed potatoes and corn. I wish I would have gotten a second order to take home! our entire meal was half of what I pay at any other restaurant. Nice people! read more

Great food, great service. We enjoyed going to meet and three restaurants and the quality of the food here was delicious. Mashed potatoes were real not fake. I had a vegetable plate with fried okra, turnip greens, and candied yams with a piece of cornbread. All of it tasted just like my mother or grandmother's home cooking. My wife had fried chicken with macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes with gravy, and green beans. Both of us left full and happy. I also had cherry cobbler for dessert and it was excellent. They serve Pepsi products instead of Coke products, just FYI. read more

This is one of the best vegetable places that we have ever been to. My family loves coming here throughout the week. They have also done catering for us in the past in the food has always been top notch. The restaurant owners always go above and beyond especially with the cleanliness of food which is very important to us. Everything is fresh vegetables and freshly prepared. Easily the best country cookin' kitchen in Ellijay. Their old locale was easier to spot, but they relocated to a shopping center where I hope people will continue to notice them. There's a huge selection of items to pick from buffet-style that they serve up on a plate for you. Daily specials include catfish on Fridays. Other than the mashed potaoes, which seem to be a powdered package mix, everything is always fresh and perfectly prepared. I don't think we've ever been there without cleaning our plates! Well recommended, especially the dizzying selection of dessert choices (pies, puddings, brownies, cakes, cobblers, etc). read more

I have eaten with these folks for over twenty years and have always enjoyed the food and friendly atmosphere.

My favorite place for meat and vegetables in our area. Owners are so sweet! Food is wonderful! The slaw is so good, I could eat it by itself!! My only complaint is the waitresses aren't as attentive as they could be, drinks run out, if you need them, you sometimes have to wave them down or go looking for them. If they'd do better in that area, I'd definitely give them 5 stars! read more
