Always love me some Ruby Tuesday as they are far and few these days. This location in Ellijay was nice and not busy but truly understaffed. Family attempted to dine the night before but only one server was on shift as they warned us so we decided to return and give them a shot 2 afternoons later before leaving town. They were still understaffed but not as busy so we risked it all and wasn't too disappointed. Our server was nice and friendly and checked up on us and service was fast and professional. Always love their salad bar and they have a great variety of salad toppings and dressings, along with cold salad options. Everything was fresh and nicely chilled and refreshing as they should be. Our food came out timely and fairly quickly. Everything was hot and fresh. It took 60 minutes to get our food after ordering. The waitress was pleasant however she sniffed our food to figure out which plate had mushrooms, my salmon was so small it was only a few bites worth, she forgot to ring up the appetizers, and forgot all the dips and gave our food to the other table. After realizing it was the wrong table she picked up the food and brought it over to our table. The manager was less than helpful and joked saying she was going to whip the staff. We tried this location on day before Thanksgiving but they were short on staff. Only one server and a bartender working that night. Understandable so we decided to go elsewhere and come back another day. We came back the following Saturday for lunch. We sat right away. The waitress was really friendly she noticed one of our family members was having a tough time choosing from the menu. She recommended some healthy options and even brought extra grilled zuccini. Thank you for that. I have to say I was not impressed with the salad bar and my burger came out really dry. We had potato wedges that were a bit dry and could use a bit more cheese. We were a little unsure when we walked in as no one was smiling. The hostess seemed unimpressed we were there. She sat us in a ripped booth. We perused the menu which had coordinating pictures- it all looked really good! I haven't been to a Ruby Tuesday in a really long time but I remember their salad bar being good. Mallory took our order and gave us instructions for the salad bar (green a clean plate for each trip). The salad bar had a fantastic variety from field greens to romaine and mushrooms, bell pepper and beets to croutons and 6 dressing choices. My baked potato was a little under done and split open. Since I added the salad bar to my entree, I grabbed some cheddar cheese and bacon bits to add to my potato. Yum! My daughter enjoyed her salmon and steamed broccoli. The music playing over the speakers was a bit loud but I personally liked the style so I just sang along. Mallory really made the visit enjoyable for us- she smiled, refilled our drinks regularly and brought me a to go box. She was pleasant and personable. I usually stop here on my way back to Atlanta and usually have a good experience but tonight the waitress was horrible. I ordered too much food thinking I was hungrier than I was so I asked for a to go box for my appetizer and then could not finish my salad so asked for a to go box for that and got treated like a child. They acted as if I was going to go thru the salad line agian and I was merely trying to box what I could not finish there for later...she followed me back to my table even to further lecture me then accused me of taking a used plate up for my second trip to the salad bar when I just used the bigger appetizer plate to pour my salad onto once I was at my table because of the tiny salad plates given to use are hard to eat a salad off of! She's lucky I had already paid the bill out she would have not received any tip from me at all. I want to like this place. I want this chain to return to its glory of days gone by. Candidly, I have no idea how it's still open. We've tried this location approximately 5 times over the last year. The signature draw for us is their salad bar. Each time the salad bar has been poorly supplied. We have to always ask for essential things to be brought out. Also, each time the lettuce is overwhelmingly brown. Lastly, each time they are poorly staffed. The last visit was our last. Moved to the area a few years back and have been reluctant to eat here for the reviews have not been good on Yelp. We eat at Ruby Tuesdays in Florida in the winter months and yes it has its ups and downs also. Management/Owners have a lot to do with the problems. On that note we stopped in today to check it out for lunch. Our server Melissa was extremely nice! We ordered 2 of their Monday specials of the salad bar and smash burgers and fries. The salad bar was well stocked and well taken care of. Yes they had smaller dishes but figured it was due to low attendance. I think it's great as long as they keep restocking, you have fresh items to choose from. Yes the restaurant needs some TLC (booth cushions repaired and torn table cloths) but the place looked a lot cleaner than the one in Florida we visit. Our burgers and tots were good. No complaints there. Melissa kept our drinks filled and was always checking on the customers around us. I only gave a 4 stars for restaurant appearance needs some updating. The Ellijay Ruby Tuesday is one of our favorite places to visit when we are in town visiting family. To be honest, this review is based on our last visit pre-covid. We were promptly greeted and seated. Our favorite meal is an entree combined with their generous salad bar, or the salad bar as a meal. The salad bar is always fresh, with baby beets, artichokes, cranberries, chopped ham, and choice of several cheeses, including cheddar and blue cheese... Yum! My husband and both my MIL and FIL ordered the Ruby Tuesday steak. All their steaks were cooked perfectly as ordered, and they were all very pleased with their steaks. We will definitely return - although earlier in the day is better if you get the salad bar. One star deducted for contamination and messy salad bar items at times. read more

The Ruby Tuesday in Alpharetta closed over a year ago. We used to love their bountiful salad bar and missed it dearly. Now with the COVID upon us we thought we would never see a true salad bar or buffet again. So imagine our surprise to see a RT in Ellijay on a recent road trip. It was open and had dine-in with social distancing. But most amazing was they had the traditional RT salad bar! Eureka! The only caveat was you had to wear service quality latex gloves when using the salad bar (the server brings them with your salad bar plate). I'm giving them two stars with the side note that we did NOT eat here today. I'm pregnant and I was absolutely craving their salad bar so we drove 35 minutes to this location. When we walked in, we immediately noticed that the salad bar was low on everything and it looked disgusting. Tongs were rested on the glass cover hovering over the buffet, the salad dressings looked like they had been mixed together, and there was food all in between the containers. It was obvious no one was attending to it. There were several people waiting, but most of the restaurant was empty so we were a little confused. We were told it would be about 15 minutes, which was fine, but in the middle of giving our name the manager came up and started drilling the hostess on who she sat in what order. The hostess informed her that she wasn't exactly certain who was seated first and the manager told her she needed to know EXACTLY what time every table was seated. The hostess then finished taking our information and started cleaning off tables. As we waited, we looked around, and we noticed that there was MAYBE two servers. We kept watching to see if anyone was getting refills or their orders and the longer we stood there, the more uneasy we felt. After looking at the salad bar, I didn't feel comfortable eating it and that's really what we came for, so we decided to leave. We just had a bad feeling about the whole ambiance, the lack of cleanliness in the dining room and food bar area, and the attitude of the manager. There were only two people on staff, but Kristie, with all of her energy, fun humor, and efficient manner, saved the day with amazingly quick returns to our table with our order, beer and wine.
