This restaurant was located at the bottom of our rented cabin, right off the hwy76. We stopped to get a take out for dinner before heading up the hill for the night. We orderd beef brisket(very very dry and they didn't even add any bbq sauce), fried green tomatoes(breading was separated and too soft inside), fried pickles(again breading was completely separated and well it was just pickle taste), and so-called world famous garlic salad(it was good but perhaps too saturated with dressing). We had the fried chicken & fried chicken livers & the breading they use is great and everything was nice & juicy! As far as the bbq options and Brunswick stew, they were eh, not horrible but not something I'd order again. Fried okra is a must so I ordered some but the servers who helped us weren't very attentive so my sides were cold & sitting in grease, probably the last of the batch seeing as the person who ate with me received fresh & hot okra. We had the chicken liver, brisket, ribs, shredded pork, mac n cheese, cole slaw, baked beans. Mom wanted the okra but they were out. Several tables were disappointed that the okra was out but how can you make a fuss when they are playing Christian music and the entire staff is treating you with the love of Christ? We enjoyed their chicken & dumplins, Brunswick Stew, BBQ chicken, slaw, baked beans & their wonderful blackberry cobbler with some vanilla ice cream. This place was one of the worst BBQ places we have ever been to. Do not waste your money or time. The brisket was shredded and dry as can be. Why would you shred a beautiful brisket? This is a. classic BBQ joint. The restaurant itself is very country. Our server Caleb was a good server. I had their famous garlic salad and a small pork sandwich. Came her 15 years ago and just returned to the area. The food is generally as expected, but the bbq we had was excellent. Loved the three sauces and the combo plate had enough food for three people. The Alice potatoes were good and along with the corn bread fried okra were both hot. Food was quick and hot. Service was very friendly and attentive. They were not stingy on the barbecue sauce or anything we asked to take out with us. My husband said the half chicken was too greasy to his taste, but I thought it was delicious. The fried green tomatoes very hard they weren't cooked all the way through, the same for the fried pickles the breading kept falling off . Our family of 7 called ahead to make sure we could get a table on a Saturday evening. The woman on the phone was so sweet and assured us they would have a table available. We were immediately taken to a table and greeted by our waiter, Tim. He was a hoot - made us feel welcome and suggested his favorites. After his amazing descriptions, we wanted everything! Stopped in on Saturday for an early dinner after Apple gathering in Ella Jay. Had a very tasty BBQ pork sandwich -loved the toasted bun! Hubby had the pulled pork plate which was also good- especially the home fries and okra. I ordered the pulled pork plate with fresh cut sweet potato fries and baked beans. The portions are huge, I could not for the life of me finish all of it although it was soooo good I just wanted to keep eating. Unlike some places, the pork was not slopped with bbq sauce. You had a choice of thier vinegar based bbq sauce or a sweet bbq sauce. The fries were fresh cut, crisp and delicious, my mouth is watering just thinking about it agin. What would a Georgia bbq meal be with out some home made peach cobbler for dessert?! We weren't even thinking about dessert but the table next to us ordered one and we had to as well. We loved the upgraded decor. The old fireplace is gone and another dining room has been added behind where it had once stood. The parking lot has been spruced up and looks clean and inviting. Garlic salad hasn't changed a lick. The pulled pork was better than ever. It was lean, smoky, moist and tender piled high on a fresh bun . Meat is generously served here. Service is genuine with smiling cheerful faces. Folks here are happy to be here and eager to please. The joint is clean as a whistle too, and I am sure it took some scrubbing. They were a 20 minute wait and we were tired and opted to do takeout. I had a pulled pork sandwich with theVinegar-based barbecue sauce and a side of fried okra. Ordered our food to go, was just about ready when we got there, paid and went straight home. Pulled pork was at room temperature. They gave my son sweet potato fries instead of the regular spuds or whatever they call them. My son got the half chicken instead of pulled chicken, I think it may have been loud when we ordered because it was super busy there. Masks appeared optional, we were the only ones wearing them. Mac and cheese was just ok, didn't seem like it was made from scratch. 2 people got the ribs and said they were phenomenal. It was a good meal, but not anything special. Can't recommend. Sadly the food is bland and not all the hype. I had the pulled pork sandwich on garlic bread. With or without sauce the pork had no flavor and neither did the garlic bread. French fries were greasy and soggy. Waffle sweet potatoe fries were nicely cooked, but also flavorless. My son had the burger and said it was ok, but he left dinner hungry despite eating the chips that come with the burger, all the waffle fries and half of my soggy fries. Not worth $30. Fried Green Tomatoes - excellent batter and they know how to make it stick (which a lot of places do not). they could slice the tomatoes a little thicker but other than that they are excellent. Sides - every side we had was excellent especially the brunswick stew which is classic Georgia style stew. Sweet Potatoe fries and slaw are also excellent. BBQ Chicken had an excellent smoky taste and was tender and well cooked. Service is friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is entertaining and clean. So why not 5 stars - the chopped Pork BBQ. It was dry and had very little flavor. I had to drown it with (very good) BBQ Sauce to make it tolerable. One member of my party ordered the 3 sliders and only ate one.
