I'm very happy with Rick's Automotive. Before making an appointment with Rick's I had called 2 other shops. Neither would discuss the cost of replacing my alternator. Rick's adviser had no problem giving me an estimate to replace an alternator on my 2006 Ford Focus. When giving me the estimate the adviser informed me that they would diagnose the alternator before replacing it. They called me and confirmed that yes that was the problem. They did an Excellent Job and had my vehicle ready when promised. They do great follow up and signed me with Carfax Car Care, with which I receive service suggestions. Rick's Automotive is GREAT! The service is great, the repairs are great. The overall experience reminds me of those old school auto shops that were honest and cared about people. They have done several repairs for me and each one was completed in a timely manner with NO issues of any kind. I have never had to come back about any work they did. They know what they are doing. One item that really stands out to me is the courtesy rides back to your home if you need to drop a vehicle off, and then picking you up to come get the vehicle. I had a broken belt, they wanted to charge me almost 600 dollars for a belt and alternator. I got it done with a lifetime warranty on both for 350 at VanZandts automotive. Then they charged me 67 dollars for looking at it. What's the hourly rate? How long does it take to go, yep the belt is broke and spin the wheel in the alternator and see it's locked up. As an update I would like to say. I was contacted by Travis concerning my experience. He seemed genuinely concerned about the service I received. He said it was an oversight on their part for not letting me know about the service charge up front and would refund that amount to me. Ricks automotive has been in business a long time and I have heard many good things about them. In any business sometimes things just happen, it is inevitable. Although my initial experience was less than optimal the fact they bothered to follow up and do what they could to make me happy tells me a lot more about this business than just one unfortunate experience. I was traveling through on a long road trip from Florida to Oregon after just purchasing a Winnebago sprinter van. The Heater would not work and only blew cold air. Mercedes sent me to Ricks and I was taken care of. I paid extra to get it looked at immediately and that was such a nice option. So, our car was taken there fir an estimate. after they gave us a quote for $4600. that's an astronomical amount for the car repair, so we contacted MD Hickman with the recommendations made by Ricks. they quoted us $1100 ish, give or take a few bucks on the estimate. So we expected to pay the towing fee from Henry's that was billed to Ricks. After reading reviews, i expected a diagnostic fee or something. however, they refused to release our vehicle to 417 Towing claiming and outstanding bill. We told them to not proceed with any repair we were taking it to MD Hickman. The total bill to release it was $400-500. Outrageous. the Value is not there, but I kinda already suspected this. read more

Last fall, I went to Ricks Automotive to get my air condition working . I stopped working several weeks before and I realized the hot weather was almost over. Anyway, I left my truck for the day. They called me that night and stated my air compressor was gone and needed to be replaced. I really didn't like that so I decided to get another opinion. We recently moved to the area following our retirement (fixed income). We were QUITE concerned to find a good, honest, fair mechanic and feel that we have DEFINITELY found one at Rick's! This shop is amazing! Our first clue that it must be a good auto repair shop (after due diligence on YELP and GOOGLE), was to see all of the ambulances parked around the shop. If they do the maintenance on ambulances, they must be reputable! We have been VERY pleased with the professional and efficient way that we have been treated! As an illustration, after we picked up our vehicle with a new starter, our car wouldn't start and this was almost at 7:00 PM, far after the repair shop was closed. After calling the after hours number, Tracy (?) met us after our car was towed to the shop and put us in a loaner for our 45 mile trip home. The next morning, our rep, Keith, called us informing us that the new problem was in the ignition switch. Had my car taken in for a tune up and state inspection. When I went to pick up my car they replaced my window motor without asking for my approval. They said they would not charge me for it, but they still did. My car was also broken into while it was at Ricks, but they paid for it even though technically they could have chosen not too, given they are not liable for something like this. This was the right thing to do. Still disappointed about the window being charged without my approval. ***Update***: After hearing about the miscommunication with the window Ricks contacted me and made everything right. Spent $5300 when I had my car services there they left my 02 sensor wires hanging on my headers which eventually melted onto them put the motor back in wrong leaving the passenger side long tube header touching the floor of my car an make a horrible vibration had to go spend another $1700 some where else to have their mistakes fixed do not take your car here they also used engine bay cleaner that ate all the black off seals an hoses now left with discolored parts in my engine bay. I had ran my car into a median and caused some damage and Rick's was the first place that popped into my head (because I knew they were reputable) and i took my car there as soon as possible.
