Warning to my Neighbors:…read more This is about Steve's Automotive. I've been taking my vehicles to this shop for years. I am a loyal customer. I have referred a few dozens of folks to this shop. I am very proactive and always keep my vehicles maintained and serviced on time. My father was a automotive mechanic for 40 years and I grew up in his shop. I know how the job is done properly. I've done the same job a few dozen times. I don't have time due to work so I pay you guys to do it. I'm not sure what has happen in the last year, but this shop is awful now. Very unprofessional, dishonest, negligent, and unwilling to repair their mistakes. The car was un drivable due to their mistakes after taking it back multiple times. Wow I guess they can't figure out how to drain and fill the rear diff on a nissan Xterra with out it leaking. How could a customer not lose confidence after bringing it back 3 times and then they refuse to fix their mistakes and say your no longer a customer. I will have the nissan dealer inspect the vehicle and send them the bill due to their blatant negligence. I will also be reporting them to the BBB. I sincerely do not recommend this shop for these reasons.

We've never met in person, but you have met my brother who brought in my 2016 Nissan in your shop. I was pleasantly surprised by the affordable oil change - only $35! I was always under the impression that services for my car would be cheap. So, I was worried about the engine light because sometimes it relates to the CVT transmission. Balancing operation maybe needs more attention. i had to go in a 2nd time, with manager supervising and caught 3 places where rim was bent. Rim repaired and it does ride 100 better. Joe told me my vehicle 100% needed a new motor due to a symptom he found in my engine and that the…read morevehicle was worth maybe $1000 if I wanted to sell it without repairing it. I expected and planned to be out of pocket at least $5,000 and was really upset about it. I spent the money for all the parts Joe said I needed and it burnt a pretty big hole in my wallet. I then took it to Chevrolet in Springfield the very next day and they did an inspection of the motor and found the same symptoms as well. They then took my motor apart and told me to look at it with them. The head gaskets, timing chain, head bolts, and valve cover gaskets that Joe told me I needed to replace were 100% fine and needed no reason to repair. All it needed was a new thermostat housing and coolant leak to attend to. I don't believe EMS physically looked at anything in my motor and just gave me a quote for a new motor after finding one symptom that could realistically mean a lot of things that could be wrong. I ended up only paying under $500 for the repairs and the car had zero problems after the repairs and I ended up selling it for much more profit then what I bought it for. I wouldn't have a problem with any of this if Joe just took the time to physically look into the problem instead of just telling me that I needed a new motor after finding one thing wrong and then just stopped looking in to it. I just feel like they tried to cheat me in giving them $3,000 to order a new motor and pay the $2,000 in labor when all I needed was just a thermostat. I won't be taking any of my vehicles to Joe anymore. He's a very friendly man but only did half the job.
