And you can make book that you are going to enjoy any sushi roll you get. The portion sizes are very generous and you won't go away hungry, guaranteed. Veggie or seafood, spicy or savory, and just about anything in between is on the menu. My go-to is the Spicy Tuna Crunch roll or maybe the Spicy Crab Salad roll and either way I'm happy as can be. Throw in a couple of Rangoons, with the sweet sauce, as an appetizer and your lunch or dinner is very likely to be an absolute banger. Sushi UNI does a LOT of to-go orders, but if you're staying in, then just know that it can be a touch 'cozy' with seating. There is not a lot of wide walking space, but their sushi game brings in the crowds. You can expect a short wait at lunch, but there are great seats at the sushi bar if you're lucky to get one. But you aren't there for the dining space, you're there for the sushi - and it's FABULOUS. The parking lot is a crampy nightmare, and since there are other popular spots nearby, the lot always seems full. Pricing is fair lunch or dinner, but the value is WAY more than the price point. Service is quick & friendly & most of all, accurate (who wants eel if they ordered tuna?). Great space and outstanding eats!

I wasn't sure what to go with, so I went ahead and ordered the Sushi Dinner, which is an assortment of sushi plus a tuna roll and soup and salad. I didn't realize the sushi it came with was actually nigiri, which I've honestly never had (I usually go for the special rolls on the menu) - I was floored by how delicious and fresh-tasting they all were. I believe I got tuna, salmon, yellowtail, super white tuna, and maybe sea bass? The only thing I wish was available is for newbies like me, something written somewhere that noted what each fish is. However, I think I'm definitely becoming a sushi purist and will absolutely be ordering nigiri more often! I only wish I had taken a picture of the gorgeous assortment before I scarfed it all down!

The staff was friendly and helpful, and the space was charming, with a Japanese cooking show playing on a wall mounted tv, nice music playing in the space, and eclectic decor throughout. Everything was also very clean and organized, and I appreciated the amazing prices for the food! The quality is on par with other Japanese restaurants I have been to, which often charge more even for their lunch special. I'll absolutely be returning to Sam's in the future to try more of their food!

We got the Yummy Combo with Garden Salad ($17), the Mango Tango Roll ($14), and the Sakura Blossom Roll ($14). The service was fast, and our server was very sweet and caring. To begin with, even though the sushi looked colorful and appealing, it lacked taste. It was missing seasoning, felt stale, and had almost zero freshness. It reminded me of the premade sushi you get at PanAsia, Target, or Sam's Club. Freshness is a huge factor for me when I go out for sushi, but this just didn't have it. The rice was dry by the time it reached our table, and it wasn't sticky enough. It felt like the cold rice was microwaved and then used to make sushi - that's the feeling I got. I also didn't think it was worth the money. We spent over $50 + after tax and tip for three rolls, which is similar to what many other sushi restaurants charge, but those places serve much fresher and better quality sushi - Sushi Uni in Lenexa. The garden salad dressing was also a complete disappointment. It had no distinct ginger flavor or even enough seasoning. It was very thick and heavily spread over the salad, which made it unpleasant to look at and eat. Overall, the service was excellent, but the food didn't live up to the ratings or the price. The three stars are for the lovely server, the beautiful decor, and the well presented sushi. I really hope they improve the freshness because, based on the older reviews, they seem to have the potential to serve much better sushi. If they do, I will be the first one to definitely come back to try more of their beautiful looking rolls.
