    Hibachi day for a birthday.
    Emily C.

We took our kids for the first time to a hibachi experience. We get to-go a lot from Hira's but hadn't gone for that yet. It was great. My daughter even caught the shrimp in her mouth. The manager recognizes us at this point from picking up to-go so that's always nice. Super good experience, place is great. We also got to set with great people.

We called ahead and requested the hibachi table, It took quite awhile to get seated. While waiting for our table we observed that the hibachi chefs were just going through the motions. The waitress that was taking care of our table was friendly and did a good job checking on us. I ordered the Green Dragon Roll which took quite some time to get delivered to the table. The Roll was good but was over priced for what it was. The Crab Rangoon was more cream cheese than any crab flavoring and they used Duck sauce instead of the normal sweet and sour sauce. After a long while the chef arrived at the table. I have been to several hibachi restaurants over the years, there was hardly any entertainment like one would expect, Enough that after he out my steak and lobster on my plate I completely forgot that he was even there cooking the rest of the peoples food at our table. Food was cooked properly but had almost no flavor. Definitely the first and last time we go here.

When I saw that there was no cars in the parking lot I should've turned around. I've driven past this place for years never gone in, but I was forced in for a friends birthday party. You can only sit down at a hibachi table if your whole party is there. And they have to make the food all at once which is understandable. When I sat down the menu was all torn up and had food spots all over it. Not a good first impression. The hibachi station had rice in the cracks where the stove was, I think they should consider cleaning that. My friend ordered the sushi, seeing the cleanliness of the hibachi station and all those old grains of rice lodged in the crevices, I would probably never consider eating sushi from a place like this. Let alone eat...but here I am. If you are ordering hibachi, each meal comes with either a soup or a salad to start out with. We started out with the dumplings and they weren't the best. They looked like they had been reheated and drowned in soy sauce and sirracha drizzled on top to make it look like something but it was doing nothing for the dish. The dumplings kept falling apart. The salad dressing was good but it was iceberg lettuce and I think that's the worst lettuce of them all, not to mention the lettuce was old and looked like they opened a bag of dole lettuce and slapped it in the bowl. As for the hibachi, each plate is at least $20 or more each. It comes with steamed rice and veggies and then your protein which is prepared on three hibachi station. I ordered the chicken and shrimp. My friend ordered the calamari and someone else ordered the beef. The portions were large, but there was no flavor. I'm just not a big fan of hibachi I don't like smelling like the food. This place they could work on seasoning the food better, I guess the plus was the hibachi cook was nice...but I will not be back.

So delicious, I've tried a couple of hibachi restaurants and this one is reallly tasty, great environment. My boyfriend and I are definitely coming back! Also, David our waiter was awesome!

My partner and I come here on occasion when we need a quick sushi stop! It is not our favorite sushi, but they are conveniently located for us and right off the highway!! The sushi rolls are pretty tasty, the 12x12 I think is one of the best on the menu - simple but flavorful! I ordered the shrimp fried rice because I was in the mood for something different rather then my usual roll! The rice was delicious but the shrimp was hardly seasoned if at all. I maybe would have chose a different protein choice, but I love shrimp. It is usually slow in the restaurant when we come around late lunch, so service is quick! It is very quiet, usually no music playing just the sound of your conversation so if that is a downside for you, you have been warned! We will still always make an occasional stop here while its conveniently located!

Shocked that a TRH has this many positive reviews!…read more First time going. Funny story, my SO and I have been trying to get a seat here for Valentine's Day for three years now. We initially chose it thinking "oh it's v day, people will want to do something nicer than TRH". WRONG. Told a 3 hour wait and we shuffled over to the Olive Garden. Well, this year, I was smart. I went online weeks prior to make a reservation, only to find out that they don't take reservations--only a waitlist. So I plotted. I told myself that I'd start looking at the waitlist starting at 2p for Valentine's Day I kid you not, by 330p, the waitlist was already at 1.25 hours. 30 min later at 4p, the waitlist was at 2hrs. Perfect. 6pm dinner sounds great! We arrived and they seated us within 2 minutes. Our waiter came promptly and checked on us so many times. Salads came out literally within a minute of us ordering. Entrees took five minutes. A wait staff stood there and waited for us to cut into our steaks to ensure that it was to our liking. And we pay at the table on a machine on our own time. We got in and out in 30 minutes. Whoever is the manger/GM know how to manage. Kudos to them for an insanely smooth holiday dinner. Also... a chain restaurant having an almost 4 star review is insane--but now I understand.

It definitely gives "I was formally a sports bar that was hap hazardly put together to try to pass off as an upscale restaurant." It feels cold and unwelcoming in a way. The music over head was barely audible adding to the sterile feel of the space. So bottom line for me, I liked the food well enough, but with the ambiance and service lacking, I won't return.

Several dishes were overly salted, and the Caesar salad was especially sad--wilted lettuce and lacking freshness. The restaurant was very crowded, but not adequately staffed to handle the volume. Service was slow throughout the night, and they ran out of items on the Restaurant Week menu. I was served melted sorbet and had to send it back. Our dinner took nearly three hours, largely due to long stretches of waiting to be served or checked on. Busy nights are understandable, but the lack of pacing and execution really took away from what could have been a much better experience. They had a jazz band playing which was a nice experience. If you go, ask for a table on the right. We were on the left side and about frozen every time the front doors opened, which was a lot while the band was bringing in their equipment.

We were seated on time at a table next to the bar-side of the dining room. Speaking of the dining room, it's a nice, if standard size for a strip-mall space, but I really appreciated that the tables were not stacked on top of each other, as seems to be the case at more and more places these days. It felt like there might be some chance of our entire conversation not being completely overheard by our neighbors, which was nice for a change! Our waitress was fantastic! She walked us through the menu, the restaurant's approach to cooking and seasonality, some of her faves, and made wonderful recommendations! We decided to split a few small plates, which was a great approach! We got to try about 1/3 of the small plate menu, and loved it all! It was all great, but the Black Cardamom Burnt Ends are NOT to be missed! It made my cardamom-loving, Midwest soul very, very happy indeed! The space is a really nice size - not massive or overwhelming - and with the shades drawn down (to seal out the late afternoon sun, thank goodness!) and dim lighting, the mood vibes were solid for a romantic anniversary dinner! The other ambiance item of note is that the restroom corridor smelled absolutely fantastic! Upon investigation, it was due to a burning candle from a lovely local-KC company that was custom made for the restaurant! Yes, they're for sale, and yes, we picked up two! While everything was lovely and the food was very good, you're definitely paying a high price for it. Not that it's not deserved, but the "value" feels aren't necessarily "off the charts", by any means. And that is really my only critique, if there is any at all! We've now been about a half dozen times (yes, this review IS overdue!), and we've had mostly great experiences! As a matter of fact, if this review had been written prior to our latest visit, it would have ONLY been positive! This location (our only location visited thus far) has been pretty consistent across the areas of service and food. First, the positives: for a medium-sized, wide-open dining room, somehow this place is always quiet enough for normal-level conversation at the table. No yelling, projecting over, cupping over ears or other tactics are needed, and I really appreciate that! The service has always been consistently "attentive", which is my way of saying perfectly normal/average. For a nice, sit-down steak dinner (I'm assuming steak is at the heart of why most folks are here), the value here is real: while they're not giving it away, the prices seem super fair, especially for the red meat options! Lastly, there's just something nice about the ambiance of a dimly lit, western-ish themed dining room to enjoy a meat-and-potatoes meal, and LongHorn does a good job of meeting expectations here! So, where's the gap? Well, up until our latest visit, I would have said there was not one. However, on our last visit, which was with a party of six adults, the main food dish on multiple plates (three of the six) was FAR overdone. It was as if the main grill caught fire and burned a ton of food, but they didn't want to toss it. I had the pork ribs, and to be honest, they were a single micron away from inedible. Extremely tough, difficult to chew, and impossible to swallow without a water assist, I choked my way through. Frequent fliers of my Yelp reviews (hi, Mom!) know that I have a strict policy of not sending food back and/or requesting a new dish due to a complaint. I simply go with what is served, eat it if I am able, and drop an honest review after. Therefore, I will say that it will be difficult for me to return here soon, as $30-$50 for a supper that was largely inedible is not my idea of a good value, and the risk of suffering it again is tough when the competition is fierce. Take that for what it's worth: one visit in five or six, but for the money and the hope of a nice meal, the risk is a little high. If you don't have any beef (!!) with sending food back on the chance it comes out poorly, you should be fine! The sides here are really good (definitely check out the brussels sprouts!) and I love their salads! We've tried all sorts of protein options - steaks, chicken, pork and seafood - and normally, everything is very good! Food = 3/5 Facility = 3/5 Service = 3/5 Ambiance = 4/5 Value = 3/5

The Liquid Courage I started off my round with two drinks. the Bloody Mary. It was fine--tasty enough, but it certainly didn't change my life or inspire any poetry. However, things got interesting with their Tequila/Cold Brew/Liquor 43 concoction. Topped with an egg foam cap, it was actually pretty solid. A bit of a gamble, but sometimes you have to roll the dice when the menu is trying that hard. The Culinary "Hit and Miss" Then came the food, or as I like to call it: The Great Consistency Crisis. The Steak: I asked for medium-rare; I received medium-well with a "char" that felt more like a personal vendetta against the cow. The Potatoes: Apparently, potato portions are determined by a lottery system. I received about half the amount of the person next to me. Maybe I didn't look hungry enough? The Eggs: My over-easy eggs had crispy, hard edges and arrived at a temperature I'd describe as "lukewarm at best." We also had to hunt down salt and pepper like we were on a scavenger hunt. Honestly, I probably should have just hit the buffet and cut out the middleman. The Service Our server was perfectly nice, but he appeared to be roughly twelve years old. Since he wasn't legally old enough to understand the complexity of a craft cocktail, he couldn't give us any info on the drink menu. We just had to "go with our gut"--which is a dangerous game when tequila and cold brew are involved. The Verdict I'm not saying I won't be back, but consider this a fair warning: if Round 2 involves another charred steak and a side of "room temperature" eggs, I'll be sending it back for a rerun faster than a shanked drive into the woods. 3/5 Stars -- Great for people-watching, questionable for potato-equity.

For appetizers, I would highly highly recommend the Ahi Tuna Tartare and the Hamachi Crudo. Other wonderful starters are the Warm Bread Service and a sushi roll (we went with the Spicy Tuna). For dinner, recently, I had the Ahi Tuna and the Chilean Sea Bass. Both were wonderful, but my favorite was definitely the Sea Bass. It is so rich and delicious. Those I was with ordered the Sea Scallops (looked incredible), Filets (with different preparations - Maytag Blue Cheese Crust and Black Truffle Butter), and sides of Bacon Creamed Spinach and Jalapeño Au Gratin (all of which I heard were divine).
