Our go-to Chinese buffet for years. I've never been to the actual location as we always order for delivery, so I cannot review the restaurant itself (atmosphere, service, etc). I honestly don't even know if there are tables there or if it's strictly takeout/delivery. But what I *can* review is the food itself. I always order the egg rolls as an appetizer (comes with 2), and they always crispy with good taste on the inside. I also often get the spare ribs appetizer; the meat is usually tender and comes right off the bone. Haven't tried all the appetizers, but the fried dumplings and teriyaki chicken appetizers are very good as well. I've had quite a few of the entrees on the menu, and there's nothing I haven't enjoyed. My favorite is the Sliced Pork Double Cook (with extra pork, please), so good. The fried rice is always good, and the lo mein even better. I would definitely recommend China 1 read more

If I could give one star I would! We have ordered from this restaurant a bunch of times and never had any issues. The last time we ordered from them they overcharged us so instead of paying our regular amount 50 something they charged our card 200 something and when we called they said that they would refund us the money and they never did. Every time we called they tell us that it should be back in our account in a couple days and they hang up on us. Totally unprofessional and if I were you I would double check how much they are charging you! read more

Like gold on a plate I go for what I expect and it's amazing each time General Phos combo with fried rice and 2 crab rangoon I moan when I eat this. Just by the way place looks says it all. This is my favorite spot for a couple years now and I think about it every time I want Chinese food. Made me appreciate it more and became my favorite food to eat. I truly love this place, I love the teriyaki chicken app and the sweet and spicy Shrimp. They deliver I believe up to 3 miles, ask and they will tell you but I live about 2.5 miles from their location. The reason I gave them a 4 star was only because their website is not the best and doesn't match up with their menu..... so I asked for a carry out menu to add to Yelp. I have visited this location several times and it has always been good but I went in at 7:40 on a Sunday evening and they were out of most everything. I wanted chow mein noodles and mushroom chicken and they were out of both of those, my friend wanted Beijing beef, there was none of that. The only real option to choose from was the orange chicken. They at least had enough of that for the both of us but that would have about emptied that bowl. With a closing time of 9 o'clock and it only being just past 7:30, I expected to have most everything to choose from. They had everything cleaned up with the exception of the maybe five dishes at most and that would be including the chicken fried rice and white rice. I have worked at fast food places before, and I've never worked at a place where an hour and 20 minutes before closing time you were as much as ready to walk out the door. read more

I previously inquired about the type of noodles in their chicken chow mein. I was told I could choose between rice noodles or lo mein style noodles. On the next trip I ordered the chicken chow mein with lo mein style noodles. No problem. On 12-31 I asked for the same. The loquacious lady who took my order refused and argued that I didn't know what I was talking about. In the end she added a separate order of lo mein noodles for which she charged extra and did not include crispy noodles which she insisted was included. I will be spending my $73 per order elsewhere from now on. I don't need rude argumentative order takers. Even fast food restaurants will customize your order and these folks prepare food to order. China Taste in Gardner is much cheaper and their quality is much higher. Plus, they don't argue with their customers. read more

My chicken with mixed veggies lunch was a great value at $5.55. My order was ready nine minutes after I ordered at the counter, was generously sized, and had an excellent variety of veggies with a good amount of chicken and flavorful rice. The spring roll was small and just okay, and the crab rangoon had a fair amount of creamy goodness. I liked that they were flexible when I asked to substitute the soup for a spring roll. The dining area was clean, with background noise coming from the TV. The service was not cheerful, but accommodative, with a small language barrier. Overall A-OK. read more

They STEAL. It's unfortunate that this restaurant is the only option for us over in West Olathe. Without getting long winded I'll let you know how they conduct business. I've ordered food from China 1 at least 25 times. Each time the food has been average at best. Like I said, only option over here. I ordered food not too long ago and got home with it and one of the items was missing. I called back to the restaurant to see if they could deliver it b/c my toddler was getting ready to go down. They said they didn't have any deliveries in the area and couldn't but they would note my account so that I could add it for the next time. No problem right? Wrong. Called in a month later and asked them to add it to the order I was placing and they couldn't find any notes. I even checked using my wife's phone number. Nothing. They stated that those phone numbers were a new number. LOL. Yeah, ok. The offered to give me the item at 50% discount. No, I already paid for the item. I don't just call up restaurants and try to swindle them out of a meal. This place stole my money, is a crap hole as far as cleanliness, and has the most rude staff I've ever encountered. I'm talking to you Mr. 20-something so-called manager. Stay away and go to Hong Kong Star. It's by Old 56 and I35. Way better. Go check their reviews. Loved all the food here...so fresh and surprisingly they gave alot of ingredients (shrimps, beef and scallops) in the entrees! Plus if you order over $20 they actually, voluntarily gives a free order of crab rangoon I would recommend this place for good carryout/delivery Chinese food that's pretty authentic Chinese food in this area. read more

We've only done take out from this place and it was pretty good. It's pretty much your typical Chinese restaurant. The portions are good size. My husband and I weren't very hungry so we shared the Dinner size General Tso's chicken. It had a good kick to it and was very tasty. We also ordered spring rolls which were good too and not too greasy. Overall I this place is pretty typical in what it offers, but it's also pretty good. I wouldn't drive across town for it, but for us it's not too far to go when I'm too lazy to cook. read more

Their food is pretty good and generous amounts but I was sitting there yesterday waiting for my food and noticed the disgusting ceiling fans. So dirty and so greasy. They need to be cleaned at the very least but should be replaced. Makes me wonder about the rest of the place. Food as I said was good and generous. Can't get past the fans now. One month later and fans are still filthy. I guess they don't read reviews or don't care. Food is good and reasonable and generous so that's why we went Dec. 14-pleasantly surprised. We always get our take out or delivery here. Neighborhood place, food is consistently good and fast, even delivery. When you order take or delivery over $25 gets FREE crab ragoon! Better than Panda Express across the street. Great experience, we decided in eat in this past Sunday night and what a pleasant surprise. This is a counter takeout place but when we sat down to eat in they tried their best to make it a table service which is not their thing, that is fine. They served the food on actual real plates! Plating was beautiful with fresh garnish ginger roses and large portions so we were able to eat family style and enjoyed it immensely. That night we had Sesame Chicken, Vegetable Lo Mein, steamed dumplings and for a first time for my diet Steamed shrimp and vegetables and it was the freshest and tastiest dish. All the ingredients were spot on. I don't think I ever seen broccoli that green before! The sauce is on the side so you can control you sodium intake yet still get some flavor. The eight of us each ordered our own entree and we ordered several appetizers, and the total cost ended up being around $100 - for eight of us! I can't say I tasted every dish we ordered, but nobody was complaining about the food, and I can certainly vouch for any of the dishes I did taste. The lunch special is a fantastic value for how much food you get. They are usually pretty quick when preparing food and delivery is also quick and FREE! China One is probably the best Chinese food I can find. Its cheap, you get far too much food and I have never had bad food. Some places the chicken is dry or the rice is hard, bland fried rice or egg drop soup is just yellow salt water. Never here. Its always good, moist, the service is very quick.
