General Tsu's chicken, orange chicken, lo mein, fried rice.
Sir H.

Small local family run Chinese food. Small dining room, but most customers got their food to go. We ordered orange chicken, lo mein, and orange chicken. The dishes were pretty decent sized, and minimal veggies (just how I like it). Food was ok and looked better then it tasted. We didn't eat it all and opted not to take the leftovers home. I'd try it again, maybe for a lunch special.

Honey crispy shrimp. Very good. Sauce is definitely heavy. Perfectly crispy though.

We LOVE this place. Have ordered a few times now since moving back to KC. Delivery is always fast, and the food is fresh and HOT upon arrival. Every dish we have had has been amazing. The only thing we wouldn't reorder are the fried meat dumplings. There was honestly the tiniest amount of meat in them. The chicken dishes we have tried are great, and the noodles, so good!!! Our favorite, although so tough to pick one dish, is probably the generals chicken. Can't wait to explore more of their menu. This is one of those places where you know no mattter what you're get, it's going to be good. These are pictures of past dishes we've gotten over the last couple months. Some are hard to tell apart. Lo mein is of course a thinker noodle, and mei fun is very thin. Can't go wrong with either. Perfect experience all 4 times we've ordered from here. That's pretty impressive, and deserves 5 stars!!

Horrible, I placed an online order the total came out to 17.65. It was the only place open on Christmas, I stopped on my way to my parents house and got some mandarin chicken for my son and I. 30 mins later we got to my parents house and it was the most Disgusting thing I've ever had in my whole life. They for sure took advantage of the fact that it was Christmas and no one else was open to do a poor job. This place is really close to my house and I had high hopes. NEVER AGAIN.

TVs playing Fox News. Food is bland. It matches their taste in politics. Fake. Please if you have a tongue and enjoy flavor do not eat here.

Fried rice tasted like plain soy sauce rice. Literally - rice and soy sauce. Chicken was good. Eggrolls were a little "dry"

I usually come here for dim sum, and it is upsetting for me to say that my husband and I should've chose somewhere else to eat for dinner. For dinner, we ordered fried rice and chow fun. Those two main entrées were okay. You can't really mess up those two fillers at an Asian restaurant. We ordered scallion pancakes- they came out soggy and soft. Not even crispy like how they usually are. The flavor wasn't there either. If I wanted microwaved scallion pancakes, then I would've bought them from the store and made them myself. My husband ordered the short ribs- they were bland and tough like rubber. It had a funky taste to it that he couldn't describe and he had to force himself to swallow it because he didn't want food to go to waste. I ordered the chicken feet- this is one of dim sum's signature dishes and I am so upset I didn't even get to enjoy one of the dishes I always order. It was dry and the flavor wasn't there. The service was fantastic. They checked in on us and made sure our water was filled. The timing of the food coming in and out was fine. The ambiance was inviting. There was a sense of urgency and I appreciated that.

I needed a break from holiday food so I decided to stop by for some takeout. I ordered online…read morewithout issue and headed that way. It took them a little longer than I was quoted but it wasn't too much longer. The interior was very small with a capacity of 10. They do have a table but that's pretty much it. I would plan on taking it to go just due to space. Everyone was friendly and they made sure my order was correct when it was completed. I went with the beef and broccoli dinner combo. You get either white or fried rice. I went with fried. And it comes with an egg roll and a crab Rangoon. The crab Rangoon was large and had a sweet flavor to it. FYI: They use imitation crab for my friends with shellfish allergies. I also ordered an additional order of Rangoon and I wasn't disappointed with that decision. I think the egg roll was just a veggie one, they do have a pork and chicken option. It was fine but I preferred the Rangoon. I would try the other egg roll options in the future. I also added on a hot mustard sauce. That's a must. It's spicy. The beef and broccoli was really good. The broccoli was fresh and there were a few carrots. The beef was tender and without that weird fatty, gristly stuff. Definitely good quality. The fried rice was a bit plain. It's literally just fried rice, no veggies or egg. But it's also not at an up charge so I can't really complain. I also ordered egg drop soup. It's delicious and such a good value. I highly recommend it. I definitely plan on returning to try a few other menu options.

Grew up in a different burb of KC and have been struggling to find the nostalgic Chinese food I grew up on. Well, China Chef nailed it. I can finally settle in as a Johnson county gal (my Jackson county bones cringe only slightly). We went safe. Egg drop soup, rangoons, beef and chicken fried rice. Ordered online at 545 and the site told me it would be ready by 745. Should've been a sign that they were moving some VOLUME. Get there at 8. Wasn't going to be ready til 820. What appeared to be the whole family was slinging deliciousness the whole wait. Lobby full of patrons. Notice the 5 star review despite the delay. I assume this is a Christmas night fluke. Portions are more than generous, real chicken (not the weird cheap rubbery stuff), umami on point. Excited to come back for a regular week night and branch out on our ordering!

Tucked away in a small corner of Lenexa, Monkey King Chinese BBQ & Noodle Restaurant feels like one…read moreof the most authentic Chinese spots in the Kansas City metro area. Their menu consists of a lot of dishes, and some are quite unique .. you don't usually see items like bird's nest dishes at most Chinese restaurants around here except for maybe Bolings. Me and my husband visited on a Saturday night around 8 pm and really devoured our meal. The menu can feel a bit overwhelming at first, but you honestly can't go wrong with stir fries at any Chinese restaurant. For appetizers, we ordered chicken egg rolls, which were hefty and filling. For the main course, I ordered the chicken in black bean stir fry, and my husband got the shrimp Kung Pao chicken stir fry. We paired both with steamed rice. The black bean chicken was rich and earthy, with that deep, slightly funky flavor from the fermented black beans. It was very umami, salty and complimented nicely with the fresh, crisp vegetables and well-cooked chicken. I really liked it. The shrimp Kung Pao was spicy and tangy, with perfectly cooked shrimp (the fried shrimp covering was chefs kiss) and crispy veggies. Overall, we really enjoyed the food. The egg rolls were about $4 for two pieces, and the stir fries were around $17+ each. The portions are quite large compared to other places in the area, so the pricing seemed reasonable. For 2 main course dishes your bill could easily reach up to $40. Otherwise, The restaurant was clean, the staff was kind, and service was quick. It also wasn't too crowded when we visited. I would rate the service 4/5, mainly because we had to ask for silverware, condiments, and tissues separately. The food, though, is definitely a 5/5. Highly recommended! I will definitely return to have more dishes like beef chow fun, the soups and last, but not least BIRDS NEST!!
