Brisket Heaven [A La Carte]
Lora L.

The brisket is indeed HEAVENLY, no notes! (well, maybe I should have gotten another to go.) The beef was tender, flavorful and not fatty at all which was a huge win. The toppings bar had pickles, purple cabbage, 3 different homemade bbq sauces and so much more. The restaurant was super clean, had massive tvs for sports and overall a super chill vibe. The owner was hanging out and very welcoming. This bbq gem exceeds the scale and I can't wait to go back for the heavenly brisket.

Brisket Heaven Combo w/ Mac N Cheese

TL;DR - beef brisket & gochujang pork belly, fries and mac&cheese. Mix both spicy and secret BBQ sauces with purple slaw and some jalapeños if you want that slight extra heat. Onion rings with the housemade ranch is fire too on the side. Had heard some good things about this spot so decided to stop by with the fam for a random dinner. It's a smaller hole-in-the-wall spot but with lots of open space so it doesn't feel too cramped. Parking isn't necessarily the easiest, but I didn't have to wait, just know most of the street parking is paid M-F between 10am-7pm. (1st 15 minutes is free though). This spot was the perfect blend of order/pay first for bomb food. Service was fast even though it was just one person manning both the cashier and service. Jackie was so great and had a great smile and was so nice to even my kids which was a big plus. I loved the food and it's not like typical "Texas BBQ" which I actually liked. The meat didn't feel overly saturated in fat or greasy but was still so tender. Maybe it's because I'm Asian, but "real" Texas BBQ joints or American BBQ spots tend to feel too heavy for me and I don't feel good after eating. This place wasn't different. The brisket could easily be cut with just a fork and that's solid for me. The gochujang pork belly was better than most KBBQ spots I've tried. and dare I say, I think they had the best tasting fries I've had... like it's hard to explain, but the slightest lemon pepper seasoning with the perfect crisp on outside to potato inside was just so on-point. I had to fight my kids over the last couple fries. Make sure to get the spicy and secret BBQ sauces they have in the center along with purple slaw and jalapeño sides. It complements the meat so nicely. Price is very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food you get. All in all, everything is so well seasoned without feeling overly salty with great balance across their dishes. I'll definitely be back.

2 meat combo with beans and mac

Average BBQ here! I had way better around town but this was my first time trying and wanted to see how they stack up against the rest! I got the 2 meat combo for $36 bucks For ribs and brisket they add a $2 dollar upcharge for both? Then a long beach 10.5% tax for $3.45 to take more $$ from the customer? Why? Expensive for only two meats. I still got the ribs and brisket. Ribs were good but brisket was not! I like BBQ with smoked favor and this is far from it. It also came with beans which was ok and mac was ok. The place is super nice with inside and outside seating! They also have a clean bathroom which is a bonus and TV's to watch sporting events. Parking is easy on a tuesday. The service was very nice and friendly. They will give you a free drink if leaving a yelp review so let them know. Sadly too many better BBQ spots around town to come back here. Food rating: BBQ Ribs 7.5\10 BBQ Beans 7.5\10 Mac and cheese 7.0\10 Brisket 6.0\10

With very few BBQ options in the city, I tried this spot located on 2nd street. Luckily I found parking easily. This was for a takeout order. As a 1st timer, I went with my favorite cut of meat, brisket. This has an upcharge as noted on the menu. I found the meat to be cooked to perfection and full of flavor. I even enjoyed the BBQ sauce as that can make or break a BBQ spot for me. The plate was serve with 2 sides. I went with the good old standbys, potato salad and coleslaw. They were both a bit different here, making it unique. I am not sure I loved either, but they were both good. Overall, I found it a bit expensive for the portion size. And...BBQ without cornbread as an offering was a bit weird to me. I would return based on flavor and quality.

8/10 Two Meat Platter - Brisket, Gochujang pork belly, Mac n Cheese, & Potato Fries. - The brisket was definitely the star of the show for me, super soft and easy to eat. The pork belly had a good flavor but it was pretty tough. I took one bite and ended up packing it up for my boyfriend's lunch the next day lol. The mac and cheese and fries were decent overall. 9/10 Wings - Gochujang sauce and Buffalo - The gochujang sauce was my favorite for sure. For the other half, we asked for it to come without sauce so we could dip the wings in whatever we wanted instead. Cost - Two Meat Platter $31.90, Wings $18.00. (Before taxes and tip).

Ribs, sausage, and pulled pork

Hands down, best BBQ that I have had. We finished kayaking through the Naples Canals in Long Beach and stumbled upon this BBQ joint. While the dining room is quite small, and probably only holds 30 people, it was fine for the 7 of us since we came a little after the lunch rush on a Tuesday. We did the sampler which allowed us to try all of their meats. Not a single one disappointed, but my favorites were the smoked ribs, sausage and brisket. Their loaded Mac n cheese had a nice twist with the crunchy bits on top. The smoked chicken wings with the fusion gochugang BBQ sauce was amazing. Service from the host was great and he gave good recommendations so we really appreciated it since it was our first time. Even though this place is quite a drive for us, we will definitely be back! Well worth it!

BBQ is my thing! I'll never get bored of it! My bf asked me what I wanted to eat after our 5k and I said BBQ! After a few searches we came across RIBBRO BBq in Long Beach. We ordered the 2 meat combo that includes two sides. I was bumbed because they didn't have the 3 meat combo. I ordered brisket with pulled pork macaroni and cheese and coleslaw. My bf ordered brisket with sausage fries and the bbq beans. We also had an a la carte order of smoked chicken breast. It was nice that they had a different selection of sauces, a self serve bar with kimchi and pickles. Utensils, sauces and napkins were also available. I was hungry and was hopeful that this meal would satisfy my BBQ craving. Unfortunately, it didn't. I expected a smoky flavor on the proteins a nice bark on the brisket and it was far from that. It was lacking flavor. In order to taste flavor on the protein I was forced to dip it in the BBQ sauce. It was sad that I had to rely on the sauce for flavor. The Mac and cheese was too cheesy for my liking and the pasta was under cooked. American BBQ This is BBQ with an Asian twist. It was my first time trying RIBBRO BBQ and sadly it will be my last. I still have not found a good BBQ place in the LA area. I'm hopeful that I will.

We stopped by while walking up 2nd Street. A decent menu and average prices. We got the two meat platter with ribs and brisket. The ribs were delicious and cooked well. The brisket was tender and it was served in a pile. It could have come with a slice or two of bread. The two sides were Cole slaw and potato salad. The coleslaw was bland and the potato salad was tasty. We got a white wine and a refillable fountain drink. The wine was warm, it would have been better chilled. They have various sauces and pickles for toppings at the condiment bar. Kind of like a Korean flare to it. They have 4 large flat screen televisions on the walls playing the All Star game.

This is our first visit and we loved the place! We have been looking for a bbq place here in Long Beach since JR's took a down turn.. Found it! I had the pork ribs and my wife had the brisket.. she said that it was the best brisket ever! The secret bbq sauce was delightful and accents the ribs flavor. Come on in folks, you won't be disappointed!!

Sokna S.

Food 4/5: Ordered the two meat combo, had the ribs and burnt ends. The ribs were tender and slightly sweeten. Great tasty flavor, no additional sauces needed. The burnt ends were also great, reminded me of pork belly from a kbbq spot. The rice was a bit lacking but overall the order was great. Bbq beans, was perfectly flavored, not too sweet. Add some soju and you have a great meal! Service 4/5: Staff was nice and quick. Ambiance 4/5: Nice spot on 2nd steet. Decent seating, nice clean decor.

Best tasting option IMO
Norman H.

Nice little spot for some different style BBQ. The atmosphere is very relaxed with tvs to watch sports. They offer beer and wine if you want it. Service was really good too. The style of the dinner is more of that old style burger joint or pizza by the slice type Places. You order up at the counter. Their menu is HUGE! Ordered the brisket songs sandwich, two meat combo with brisket and gochogang pork, and the loaded Mac n cheese with pulled pork. The food was all good. The pulled pork was delicious, the gochugang pork was like meat candy, and the Mac n cheese was fantastic. The sides were good too. The coleslaw was different and really good. Onion rings great, and the potato salad was a different style too. My two complaints about the experience was that the baked beans or BBQ beans were underdone and crunchy. The bbq sauces were just ok. The biggest issue was that the brisket was way overcooked. It was very tender to the point that it was mushy and hard to eat without it crumbling apart. The flavor was good though especially with some bbq sauce. They claim they are a Texas bbq. It's certainly a different style Of Texas Bbq. As I've never seen a Texas bbq place offer radish kimchi, or pickled radish. That said they were both absolutely delicious. If you stop in here you HAVE to get the loaded Mac, or get the rice bowl with pulled pork and that radish kimchi!

UPDATE: damn. The food is inconsistent…read more.. Got an order on a Monday night and maybe it was off but the chicken wings were funky-- not lightly fried with the taste of sauce as they had done before. the pulled pork was dry as a bone and the paper thin pieces of tri-tip were like paper. Smoked paper. The baked beans were kind of meh I do like the cornbread and coleslaw but after this I'm gonna keep looking. One BIG issue is the prices are also inconsistent, cheaper in the online app, higher in the store cash register system and even higher on the printed menu. They need to fix that because I don't like arguing over prices with the counter help... But I will. MY ORIGINAL REVIEW WAS MUCH BETTER Love this place, it's low-key and local and has killer barbecue, tasty sides and more. Staff is super nice and friendly, I just call in my order and it's ready in minutes. So far I've only gotten the wings and SMOKED CHICKEN YUMMM plus sides like mac & cheese, coleslaw and greens are delicious. And I love their cornbread, it's generous and freezes well so you can have it later in the week for breakfast! If you have any leftovers!

Visited the 10th's Corner location and it wasn't too busy inside. I ordered two 2-meat meals with…read morebrisket and tri-tip plus sides, one 1-meat lunch with brisket and potato salad, and a kids meal brisket slider. Unfortunately, once I got home, I realized the order wasn't correct. I received 3 mac & cheeses and 3 baked beans, but NO potato salad, which I specifically ordered with the 1-meat meal. My biggest disappointment was the kids brisket slider. It does NOT appear or taste like brisket at all--it seems to be a regular hamburger patty. I even specifically asked the young lady at the register if the slider was brisket , and she confirmed that it was. If this is actually a hamburger being sold as a brisket slider, that's very misleading and disappointing. I would like that portion of my order corrected or refunded. That said, there were definitely some positives. The baked beans were loaded with meat and had great flavor. I haven't tried the mac & cheese yet, but the brisket was VERY tender, and the spicy BBQ sauce was delicious! The food I actually received and tried was good, but for an order this large, getting the correct sides and the correct meat--especially after specifically confirming what I was ordering--matters. Hopefully the restaurant can address the issue with the kids meal and improve order accuracy.

I ordered the tea (which had sweet & unsweetened options), the 2 meat lunch and also 5 bbq wings. Famous Dave's has plenty of paper towels to wipe your hands even though I wanted to lick the sauce off my hand. The ambiance is rustic and very relaxed. So it felt great to just chill after work. There's indoor, outdoor and bar seating so the options are a plenty. The restaurant is ADA compliant with a ramp for handicapable individuals. One afternoon, I was craving a beer and wanted somewhere close by that wasn't quite a bar. I noticed Johnny Rebs served beer and decided to give it a try and WOW. The moment I stepped inside, I felt like I had been transported into another dimension! The decor, atmosphere and overall aesthetic are incredible. It genuinely feels like coming "home." (They have a banner outside that says welcome home) On our first visit, our waitress was incredibly sweet and told us about their $13 lunch special, available from 11 AM to 2 PM. It included cornbread and a drink! She also gave us a little insider tip: ask for their whipped butter and pair it with honey on the cornbread. WOW. Absolutely delicious! My friend and I decided to split our meals so we could try a little bit of everything. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fixins, and our waitress recommended the grilled mac and cheese. They also had $5 beers! Everything was packed with flavor, and they absolutely DO NOT skimp on portions, even with their lunch specials. We were blown away! Grilled Mac N Cheese is my favorite fixin! My friend loves their collards. Since then, I've returned countless times and tried their catfish, jambalaya, beef ribs, BBQ plates and desserts (Beignets and Banana Cream Pudding.) I have NEVER been disappointed. Even their takeout experience is thoughtful. If you order a lunch special to go, they have to-go cups so you can take their large sweet teas home! But what truly makes Johnny Rebs special is the people who work there. Everyone says hello, goodbye and thank you as you leave, including the chefs. I cannot stress enough how genuinely KIND everyone is, you just have to experience it. The first time I brought my cousin, they surprised us with complimentary dessert because it was her first visit! She was also unsure about ordering grits, so they offered her a little sample before she committed. Such a small gesture, but it meant so much. When I brought my best friend for the first time, they treated us to complimentary sweet potato fries! And when I celebrated my birthday here, they offered me a complimentary dessert of my choice. Naturally, I went with the banana pudding! Our waiter also gave me an INCREDIBLE birthday song performance that made the experience even more memorable. Seriously, the hospitality here is unmatched. Oh, and did I mention they sell dog bones?! For $20, you can bring home a super gigantic treat for your furry friend. My dog is incredibly picky, but these are her absolute FAVORITE! Overall, Johnny Rebs has become my go-to spot for delicious Southern comfort food, generous portions and genuinely wonderful hospitality. Every visit feels special, whether I'm bringing someone for the first time or stopping by for a casual lunch. And the funniest part? I STILL haven't tried their breakfast! So clearly, I have plenty of reasons to keep coming back. This is part of a cloud kitchen that is poorly maintained. There is not even one person attending so if there are any issues, you are on your own. I tried calling the phone number but no one answered. I even tried texting the restaurant. Uber support did not help either. The instructions given for pick up from the restaurant via uber were poor so guidance is necessary. There are men loitering around the lobby that do not work there. The confusion regarding their purpose and intentions did make me feel a bit unsafe. It was probably not their intention but going into a tight alley, not knowing what to do, with no one that can help you and then running into a group of men would make anyone a bit concerned. Finally after figuring out how to check in, the order was not even ready even though the estimate already said it was ready. It seems like the order didn't get started until I checked in. So, I had to wait longer for my order, which again is an issue due to the loitering. There is also no parking near the lobby so it is a terrible place and area to be waiting. Not only are those men loitering but there are other drivers loitering in their cars in the alley for orders so it is hard to drive through. Having the cloud kitchen staff at least one person would help and/or a security guard to keep the alley and lobby clear could significantly help all businesses operating out of there. Although this is mainly an issue with the cloud kitchen itself, it is something that this particular restaurant can work on. Had the instructions been clear via the app, I would not have this issue.
