Short rib rice plate with cabbage kimchi instead of daikon sambal
Aaron B.

Food was refreshing. Pancake wasn't too carb-y, and the sauces were very unique and delicious. I would say the kimchi was a bit more aged than I'd like but still very good. Service was good too, but the fact that they automatically added 22% tip didn't sit well with me, personally. Ambiance was good too. I sat outdoors, and for end-of-may weather in Seattle, it was just perfect. Would recommend, but don't expect to get the OG Korean experience. I would categorize this modern Korean-fusion, than traditional Korean meal.

I get that it's not a cheap place. But for the price they are charging, the portions are insanely small especially for the appetizers. And it's not any mind blowing good either. But the desserts are cheap and great. Especially the cheesecake. Also they add 22% service charge. Cool no problem. But for 22% extra charge, I don't want to be flagging down our server for everytime we need her. We also got the wrong check with double charges at the end. Thank god we checked

I'm not sure why Revel isn't rated higher, but don't let that deter you from an unforgettable experience. You know you're in for a fun experience when you can see the chefs going to work during your meal, and the gang are absolute magicians here. Be careful though, even walking by the house-made hot sauce bar will make you tear up. Small plates are the specialty here, and you will notice that not a single detail is missed. Chinese broccoli doesn't sound like an exciting meal, but the dish is incredibly flavorful and a textural experience. The little chestnuts mixed in there pack a punch. Who would have even thought of combining those with broccoli? The kimchi pancake is a must-have. Crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, I would come here for this alone. Revel has really mastered the art of textural contrast in food. And those crab noodles? They taste like you're swimming through a pool of buttery crab. Every dish I had here was elite, and sitting at the bar while watching the cooks made it awesome.

We stumbled into this restaurant at 8:30 pm on a Friday with a 6 person group and they were able to accommodate us! We shared about 7 dishes family style. First, the short rib wontons were the best I've ever had... the sauce that the wontons were in was phenomenal (we ended up getting multiple orders). The crab noodles were delicious ... the noodles were cooked perfectly Al Dante and the big pieces of crab were very flavorful. We shared the steak and it had incredibly flavorful. The only thing we didn't care much for was the kimchi cake, it was dry and flavor was lacking. I can't wait to come here again... the food was so good.. I would definitely recommend this restaurant

Revel is my favorite restaurant in Fremont. I've been coming here for a decade and their Dungeness Crab Noodle is still a briny and creamy treat. I also really appreciate that you can quietly have dinner at the bar... or host a large party. Both were happening tonight. Thanks for being a Seattle institution, Revel.

a casual korean asian fusion dinner spot that feels fancier than casual. as you walk up, the outside is very simple and elegant. inside was an open concept, we sat at 'bar' seating which was a table in the bar area. we had a preset menu for valentine's day, so our food was picked and brought out to us in courses. we were served each course timely and hot as our servers were managing our meal. it was nice to try basically every specialty dish they had. the food itself was so delicious! cannot wait to go back and try other items they might have on the menu. -black sesame bing bread: so fluffy like air and with the hint of sesame made it refreshing. caviar was an amazing addition to the crème fraiche. -sichuan pork belly: a hot one, mix well! the spice may get you, but this was also a great start for crunchy, savory, and light. -short rib wontons: my highlight dish! loaded with flavors and juicy meat. soft and chewy, melt in your mouth yummy. wish i had white rice with this dish. -dungeness crab noodle: chunks of crab in this dish, along with flavorful ginger. the uniqueness of how the noodle was cooked threw me off. it was not as chewy or as soft as i thought it would be. -coulotte steak tataki: big serving of meat, with light sauce underneath. -creamed spinach: reminded me of a japanese side dish gomae, just a little sweeter. so very home-y taste for me. -paper love cake: the guava was a great touch to the pistachio sponge to end the dinner.

The food was subpar for the prices. Not pictured was the corn salad that was difficult to eat with chopsticks. The trout had bones and was super oily. The fried chicken was the highlight but a small plate. Kimchi sampler had very little seasoning or flavor. The service was an older woman who made us feel like we needed to impress her, a New York not in a good way vibe. Outdoor patio was nice but had a lot of flies. I appreciate the concept and aesthetics but the food and service were subpar.

I went here to celebrate my partner's birthday. The ambiance and service was okay. This place does charge a 22% surcharge, which is higher than I would have liked, and would have tipped. Keep that in mind if you go. We ordered the Steamed Bun w/ Chicken Bulgogi, Spicy Wontons, and Short Rib w/ Rice. We received an order of the Kimchi Pancake for free for my partners birthday which was a nice touch. The steamed bun was mostly pickled onion, no real taste of meat. I ended up using the sauce they served with it to cover the taste. The wontons were great, very nice touch with peanuts. The Kimchi pancake left a lot to be desired. I'm not sure why this is the hottest item at this location, it was mediocre. The Short Rib orders were extremely fatty. They cut up half of the rib for you, but each piece was arguably a third or more in fat. They gave you the bones as well, but again, fat. Extremely chewy and would not order again. The Kale was underdressed and the flavor did not mix well. Overall, probably wouldn't come back and probably would not suggest it to a friend.

I grabbed dinner here with a friend after a long work day; we arrived right before the end of happy hour and were easily able to grab a table for two. My cocktail was fine - but the real star here was the food! The menu is mean to share and the dishes come out as they ready. We opted for the short rib dumplings, the fish, and the sticky ribs. The dumplings were the real star of the show - filled well, spicy, and just so delicious! The fish was the real surprise of the meal - it was hearty, but light and fresh. The veggies it came with and fresh herbs were so satisfying. Finally, the ribs were delicious, don't get me wrong; however, they are definitely a lot of work, as the meat isn't "fall of the bone" ribs. So, prepared to get messy and put in a bit of work to enjoy them. Overall, service was good - food was great!

We had a later reservation for Revel and our large group was seated quickly. The short rib from the short rib rice plate was absolutely amazing, but the mustard greens, daikon, and rice felt more like fillers to put on the plate and more on the just okay side. When I took a bite with everything combined, it was good but I preferred just eating the short rib alone. The service was also rather sporadic and the food did take a good amount of time to come out. While I really loved the short rib, I'm not sure I would go out of my way to return to Revel.

Mmm years after Revel has stayed consistent and their staple menu Dungeness Crab Noodle and the short rib rice hits the spot one small change was that they no longer do the short rib in a bowl but in a plate now with the rice on the side and NO YOLK!!!!! I was so sad to see this change, while the cured yolk rice bowl option (which is amazing even though i dont usually like egg yolks) is still available for the albacore tuna rice bowl, during my entire meal i was reminiscing about the short rib rice bowl with the yolk.. yall their lettuce is glazed in the perfect sauce, the ggak doo gi (raddish gimchi) is like perfectly lightly fermented and sweet (i love it even though im usually a fan of more fermented kimchi), the cured yolk just blends the tender short rib and rhe rice and all the veggies together creating a heavenly flavor.. ah. The short rib also changed and i think the portion got a bit smaller, in the past there was no bone just meat chunks :( i really felt the inflation in my last visit. I just really miss the old short rib bowl with the yolk man.. that could really help me get through any tough week. But yeah i was here for my friends birthday and the staff were super friendly despite us staying almost 2 hours for our meal catching up and eating by not kicking us out and also giving us a complimentary ube birthday dessert. It was yummy. We also ordered the pandan basque cheesecake and of course that was amazing as well. Revel has changed locations so many times since i first started coming here but its amazing how they managed to keep the vibe pretty similar. Cozy. Although my favorite will always be the first spot ;)

Chicken bulgogi

I've always loved this place, but today's inaugural Sunday dinner series meal was truly exceptional! The meal started with a light and fresh papaya salad, progressed into dan dan noodles, and crescendo'ed with chicken bulgogi accompanied by the most incredible pea vine and radish salad. Phenomenal, from the first bite to the last. Pro tip, if you like spicy food, definitely try the firewater sauce from the sauce bar (by the end, I was just drinking it, it was that amazing). 10/10, no notes, will be back.

Mark N.

To be honest I'm usually skeptical of restaurants that are mashing together styles like this. Fusion has long been a buzzword in the food world. However, Revel nails it completely. Exhibit A: The rice cakes with spicy romesco, curried pork and dandelion greens. Perfectly cooked rice cakes with a creamy and slightly spicy romesco sauce. The curried pork adds more to this flavor bomb. The fats and spice brought into balance with the bitterness of the dandelion greens. Exhibit B: The short rib wontons with garlic crunch in a chili oil. Pefectly cooked short rib inside perfectly cooked wontons mixed with a chili oil that brought some nice heat to the party without overtaking flavors. The garlic crunch provided a nice textural contrast to the soft wontons and meat. Service was excellent. Drink list is not large, but plenty of options that pair well with the food. Despite the costly Uber from downtown, it was worth it. Next time I'm in town I will come back for sure. Logistics: Online ordering via Toast at https://order.toasttab.com/online/revel-seattle. The arancini was a special of the evening and came out perfectly hot and crispy. The calamari was also fried very well. The place is decorated in a fairly elegant and old school manner, so you are somewhat transported away from the outside reality. We got the Tobe's Thique Mint and Garden Party. I loved the creaminess and cinnamon afternotes of Tobe's Thique Mint, and it also looks somewhat pretty. It is quite a heavy drink, so one was enough to fill me up. The Garden Party was a bit of a miss since as much as I tasted the orange and grapefruit, it was a very light drink and tasted a little watered down. The biggest plus is that the drinks are fairly affordable compared to the greater Seattle area, priced at $14. I liked how their menu says 14 for $14, as they have just 14 cocktails to choose from and the drinks seem to rotate seasonally. For us, we went just in time to still have the spring menu, but they will change to the summer menu on June 20.

We ordered munchies and drinks while we waited for our table at Delancey. The bartender / server knew we would be headed to Delancey in 40 minutes or so, and handled things well accordingly. We got a plate of olives (tasty, great finger food) and drinks. The Yonder cider was good, not too sweet. The Martini was tasty. I had two quibbles: The first was with the pricing: the martini was charged as two separate items: 1) gin (I suppose the charge varies by the kind of gin or vodka in your martini) 2) martini (which is apparently the non-vodka or or non-gin part of your drink) While I'm sure this makes it easier to track for the bartender and inventory, as well as for charging, as a customer, it's a little odd to have a mixed drink be a two-part charge. The second was the included 20% automatic gratuity. I don't object to the concept of a standard service charge, I just wish it had been more prominently displayed so that I wouldn't have added a 20% tip on top of that (and my tip was on the amount that included tax, service charge and drinks / food). So, buyer beware ... the service is good, the ambiance is nice, the food and drinks are good -- but the payment / billing is non-standard, and can cause unexpected surprises.

Our server said they "ran out". How does that happen? I stalked a departing table to take their rechargeable lamp. Anyway, my expectations were likely too high going in, and I was annoyed before even ordering, turning on our cellphone light to read the menu. The food is pretty good, though not mind-blowing good like the reviews suggest, and we had one bad dish. They offer varied Khmer dishes beyond noodle varieties, which is a plus. We chose the chicken since we already had mushrooms. Kroeung is the Khmer seasoning. Our server said this dish and papaya salad are amongst the most popular. Since we have a veggie dish, we chose this over the papaya salad (which looks great, too). The chicken is lightly fried, not crispy outside, super tender, and paired well with the kroeung aioli. trei chmouy tuk tei omperi, $40 - 1 Star The menu says serves 2 but not really. The menu doesn't say so; the server didn't mention it. Luckily, by this time of the meal, we have acquired the little table lamp, which enabled me to see the long fish bones that had not been removed. FIVE of them. The noodles are a pathetic overcooked limp pile. The best part is the turmeric sauce. Do not order this dish. Epilogue: I happened to walk by Sophon this past weekend. I was surprised to see a sign saying they are temporarily closed to resolve internal issues. (See photo) That is never a good reflection of management.
