    Very crammed and complicated menu.

Food is excellent but service is ridiculously slow. Waited 12 minutes before someone took our order and then another 30 minutes before we got our food. 4 tables inside and 3 outside had guests. If they were busy I'd understand but they weren't. We've been here in the past when every table was full and we still got our food in under 15 mins. Staff is friendly but of the 5 that I could see working, only 2 seemed to do so with any urgency. Two women were doing prep and chatting the whole time. The only line cook was slow but when we finally got our food it was hot and excellent. The new owners took over June 1, 2025 and they may have some bugs to work out. And finally, their new menu is colorful and interesting but all the detail makes it difficult to read.

    Love the coffee and mugs!

The omelet was fluffy, the potatoes were delicious, and the portions were generous. It was one of those meals that had us talking about how good it was long after we finished. What made the experience even better was the incredible service. Our waiter, Stevie, was so sweet, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. You can tell he genuinely cares about his guests. We also want to give a special shoutout to Emily, who took the time to stop and chat with our daughter. Small gestures like that mean so much when you're traveling with little ones, and she made our family feel so welcomed. Great food, wonderful staff, and such a warm atmosphere. We'll definitely be recommending this spot to family and friends and will be back the next time we're in town!

I came for ONE cookie. ONE. What I found was an absolute wall of bakery beautifulness that stopped me dead in my tracks. The line was out the door, not surprisingly but I needed every minute of that wait to make my decisions. Final verdict: a raspberry kiss mocha (dreamy), a lemondoodle cookie (excuse me, WHAT), and a molasses cookie that I'm still thinking about. To. Die. For. My husband went rogue and ordered a Lotus drink, which unfortunately arrived as approximately 90% soda water with the flavor just... vibing separately at the bottom. We tried. We stirred. We let it go. Stick to the baked goods, friends. The staff was warm and lovely even with a line out the door, which is its own kind of superpower. Calico Cupboard, I will be back. Ideally with a seat at an actual table someday. And maybe six cookies this time.

There is some street parking, but we ended up parking in a public parking lot north of the cafe. The place is cute and charming, and it's decorated with art that is for sale. The menu on the wall was just for drinks, and their food menu was laminated nearby for us to peruse. We had a nice chat with JJ (who I think is the co-owner), and he was very bubbly and nice. It was fun to witness his kindness to other customers and neighbors as they came in. This place seems very involved with the community. There are a few tables both outside and inside. The TV behind us was playing Pandora for radio music. Nearby, they had some free chocolate-covered coffee beans and your own water and silverware station. I got an Arnold Palmer, and boy, was it tart! I got my own sugar to try to sweeten it up. I also ate the Ricky Ricardo panini, and it wasn't my favorite. The aioli wasn't flavorful enough for me to notice, or maybe it was missing, and the pickles were too thick. I didn't love the flavor profile on this sandwich, and it was pretty hot (in temperature) to eat, so I had to let it cool down a bit. Connor loved his smoked salmon toast! There were a ton of capers, so lots of salt there. The herbed cream cheese was the star of the show, with the flavorful toast being a close second. He really appreciated it. I think I'd be happy to come back and try a different sandwich.

I was left speechless (not really) and had a dozen questions for JJ and Krista on Mother's Day about this specialty drink. It's such a hit that I had to buy their syrup for making millionaire bacon in the near future. Hubby ordered tea and the croissant sandwich. It was super filling. I liked the ambience, the people, the food and drinks so much we returned the next day and bought the same things, plus a two toned hoodie, and 3 desserts. Eldest daughter loved the tartness of the lemon bar. I enjoyed the bread pudding after warming it up in my toaster oven at home because I was too full to eat it there. The tiramisu cheesecake was mild and delicate, not overly heavy. The only critique I have is the blended berry Greek yogurt. It was a typical grocery store yogurt. Okay.

Our meal was good though prices are high, portions were on the small side, and the kitchen was a bit heavy handed with the salt which was a common thread through our appetizers and entrees. There is no children's menu and truffle salt coated the fries so they were not appealing to young palates. We ordered 4 appetizers shared around the table, bread (excellent but not included with the meal), a single soup, 6 entrees, and 9 cocktails (two with no alcohol). The bill came to just over $600 before tax and tip.

We ordered the Wagyu Burger ($24) with a side salad to split. They charge a $2 split fee, which I prefer over bringing out one meal and an extra plate. The Wagyu Burger is the best burger I have had in a long time. The meat was cooked a perfect medium, and was served with caramelized onions, white cheddar, a most delicious truffle aioli, and a wonderful house made brioche bun. Yum. I was almost sorry I split this one. But that left room for dessert...a luscious chocolate mousse served with whipped cream and a macaron.

The cafe was very busy when we arrived and had to wait about 20 minutes for an open table out on the deck. Due to how busy it was, I had high hopes that the food was good. Unfortunately it felt more catered to the one and done tourist - take their money with over priced mediocre food that certainly did not command either aesthetics or taste. What we ordered: 1. Fried calamari $18: this was the smallest portion on an appetizer plate with three calamari rings and a handful of what appeared to be minuscule tentacle pieces heavily battered to give the dish the appearance of "more". Bland and oily - nothing really outstanding here. 2. Captain's Platter $28: this was the most expensive item on the menu. I ordered it hoping that at least quantity wise it would be satisfying. It came with one fried piece of cod, one fried piece of halibut, four fried shrimp and fries. I have never eaten more bland fries in my life. They weren't even crunchy but soggy with oil as they laid under the fried fish, which likely was hurriedly plated on the fries without letting the oil drip off. The fish was overcooked for sure - the cod was so small that I was honestly offended. The shrimp - undercooked. 3. Strawberry lemonade $5: standard, on the sour side. The only pleasant thing I have to say is that the hostess and waitress were very sweet. They were definitely understaffed and I felt badly for them so I tipped well. But I would not go back and do not recommend - unless you like to waste your vacation money on this tourist trap.

Affordable lunch burger and a beer? Yup. Fancy date night romantic dinner with craft cocktails? Heck yeah. Combining a casual, marine-themed ambiance with quaint La Conner vibes, and adding in some truly delish food and drink, there are few places in the area I'd rather eat. My favorite here is their bouillabaisse, with big pieces of fish, half a fresh Dungeness crab, sausage, and all the goodness cooked in their house-made broth. All I can say is: try it. Their raw oysters are also a favorite, but I can't say I've ever had a bad dish here. One time I swung out and tried their pork chop, which was truly sent from heaven. Their wine list contains several affordable options - on one visit our group enjoyed two bottles of an exquisite rose. And if gin is in your repertoire, don't miss the Empress Aviation which is not only pretty to look at, but quite tasty as well. Their happy hour features incredible drink and appy discounts, including half price bottles of wine. And I'd be remiss not to mention their friendly, lovely service. We always feel special when we visit. What's not to love about The Fork? I'm officially hungry now!

We checked out this pie-themed bar on a recent trip to La Conner, and it did not disappoint. We were craving a sweet treat after a delish dinner nearby, and this was one of the only spots open after 8pm. (If you know La Conner, you know how thrilled we were to discover this. The town pretty much shuts down at 6pm!) We grabbed a table by the window, ordered a giganto piece of coconut cream pie to share (and an equally generous slice of chocolate bourbon pecan to take back to the RV for breakfast the next day). Both were delish, but if we had to choose again the coconut cream pie was the best of the two. They also offer savory pies here, so let's just say we'll be stopping in again soon! I noticed they have a beautiful outdoor patio as well, so I can easily see myself sitting out there with a slice of chicken pie and a cocktail on a breezy summer afternoon.
