The Fork at Skagit Bay still remains my favorite restaurant in Skagit County - and in all categories! Looking for a great happy hour? They've gotcha covered. Affordable lunch burger and a beer? Yup. Fancy date night romantic dinner with craft cocktails? Heck yeah. Combining a casual, marine-themed ambiance with quaint La Conner vibes, and adding in some truly delish food and drink, there are few places in the area I'd rather eat. My favorite here is their bouillabaisse, with big pieces of fish, half a fresh Dungeness crab, sausage, and all the goodness cooked in their house-made broth. All I can say is: try it. Their raw oysters are also a favorite, but I can't say I've ever had a bad dish here. One time I swung out and tried their pork chop, which was truly sent from heaven. Their wine list contains several affordable options - on one visit our group enjoyed two bottles of an exquisite rose. And if gin is in your repertoire, don't miss the Empress Aviation which is not only pretty to look at, but quite tasty as well. Their happy hour features incredible drink and appy discounts, including half price bottles of wine. And I'd be remiss not to mention their friendly, lovely service. After daffodil/ tulip watching in Mount Vernon, swing over to small town La Conner and walk around the bustling downtown area. The Fork At Skagit Bay was one of the few places with actual parking so we decided to eat lunch there. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, fish and chips, bouillabaisse and shrimp po boy. I was truly disappointed when I saw the small portion sizes given how expensive it was. We got exactly three slices of tomatoes. The bouillabaisse was served in a small soup bowl. For the po boy, it was as if the shrimp was simply boiled and put in the bread. read more

But- less graphic and gross than that actually sounds. The roasted squash - sweet, savory, and smart. With nuts and goat cheese and arugula !! The Caesar salad - it isn't a boring experience. My wife and I ate here New Year's Eve. We had a few drinks, shared an appetizer of cheesy grits with shrimp, and then ate dinner - I had steak (a New York strip) and she had the pork ribs. Everything we ate was delicious, but the pork ribs in particular were extraordinarily good. That dish alone would be worth a return trip. (They'd had a busy day and snow-related supply issues, so they were out of dessert.) Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The space itself is fun - an open concept with exposed wooden beams overhead and big windows facing the main street of downtown La Conner. The menu is somewhat limited, but it's well executed and diverse. Highly recommended. read more

My friend wandered into The Fork yesterday afternoon in search of oysters and stumbled upon quite a collection of bourbon. A rare bottle caught his eye, and being the bourbon aficionado that he is, he inquired about buying it. The owner, who was quite friendly, sold it to him at a fair price. Prices on shots were more than fair. It sounds like this place has been open for a couple months, and they seem to be on the right track. read more

This wasn't our first choice after spending the day at the skagit valley tulip festival, but since it was least crowded restaurant, that's where we ended up. The lunch menu is very limited which was a little off putting, not many choices but what we finally ended up with tasted fine. Like all the places, they seemed short on staff and it took a while to get our order, one cook and she was crazy busy. Only one server and a person to clear and deliver food so it was a bit spotty. We were super hungry but their choices were sort of odd, I.e. a corned beef po'boy. They had several sort of spicy dishes and only two small salads. So we ended up with burgers. To their credit the patties were obviously hand made with real beef. Nice brioche bun, lettuce, tomato and a pickle. You could have cheese with no charge but any other add on's were paid such as avocado, mushrooms, etc. the side was either fries or a green salad. A wonderful lunch in a sweet waterfront town. Drove up to La Conner to look for Trumpeter Swans. Found hundreds! Strolled art galleries, boutiques & was happy to find its much more than touristy t-shirt shops & tulip posters. Beautiful woodwork, jewelry, high end clothing & international goods. Lunch was delicious fish & chips for him and shrimp & grits for me. I don't enjoy spicy so the chef was kind to turn down the heat for me. Very impressive wine list. Relaxing cozy setting with teeny fairy lights all around. Waitress was extremely attentive. Highly recommend. read more

We ordered a green tomato salad that the server promised us will be large enough for 2 people , but it was a slice of tomato with one mozzarella piece. This was our second time here. We thought the first was a one-off, but we didn't care for it this time either. There was nothing on the menu that sounded good enough to spend $50-60 on, so I had a glass of wine, my husband had a beer, and we shared a plate of clams with "bacon balsamic vinaigrette," which was actually gravy (see photo). This was weird, but tasted okay. It was served with one thin slice of toast, about 3x4". This is ridiculous. Sorry, but bread is cheap and this dish NEEDS a half a baguette. Last time we were here, I had black cod with squid ink pasta. The cod serving was minute and I really disliked the pasta (as did my husband). He had bouillabaisse, and said it was "pretty good but not great." Service is friendly and the space is nice, but the price, menu and portion size make this a "nope." Bourbon/whiskey selection is great and prices are fair. I got the shrimp po'boy and my wife got fish and chips. We both loved our meals. The sauce that came with hers was phenomenal. We got our son a kids pizza, which unfortunately had mold on the crust (I found it when we were taking it to go - luckily he hadn't eaten much), so they didn't charge us for it. To preface this review, we live in Bellingham and have been long term patrons of The Fork at Agate Bay. The town of LaConner is so adorable, and the new location here just fits in brilliantly. Initially we were a little disappointed to not see a brunch menu available, however that disappointment quickly turned to high satisfaction as we perused their lunch and cocktail menu. First off, this is NOT a $$ restaurant, it's definitely $$$. Three of us shared clams to start, then one had game hen, one had the pork chop, and one had the NY strip steak. No alcohol, no dessert, and it came to close to $200. I had considered leaving when I saw the menu, but I'm glad we stayed. For an extra $60-80 than we expected to pay for dinner we had a lovely meal with huge portions, and we each picked something we wouldn't normally select. Service was attentive but not annoying. If it were slightly less expensive or if there were little touches (eg. an extra piece of bread with the clams, a little sweet with the check, the lemon I requested for my soda...) it would have been a five-star review. read more

Nope, Don't Bother. Forget dropping in for a bite. They regularly close on days they have listed as open. Call first. Lame excuses for being closed... "We've been so busy we ran out of food..." Now mind you they're closed on Monday and Tuesday. This week open Wednesday then randomly closed on Thursday. I live in Skagit Valley, we have a COSTCO, Cash & Carry, ( a restaurant supply warehouse full of food.) Surely they have access to a vehicle to get some supplies..... We've only been here for lunch, but can't wait to try their Dinner menu as well. The ambiance is super cozy! Feels like you're at a friends house, (who cooks amazing Southern Food).... The fried green tomatoes are absolutely mouth watering, the burger is juicy and perfect, and their hush puppies make me miss the South. They have a large whiskey/bourbon selection, and also wine and beer. They have a happy hour that looks pretty darn good and doesn't break the bank. The service was good. Sitting on S1st was fun though smoggy with the heavy traffic on a Saturday evening. The food however left much to be desired. The lemonade was excessively sweet, but that's a matter of taste I suppose. The Southern Fried Game Hen 's meat undercooked but the nice crispy breading had a burnt taste. Wow. Omg. Thoroughly fantastic in every possible way. Started with the friendliest greeting and they accommodated our party by rearranging outside seating. They have lovely little fire pits which we sat at. Creative cocktail menu and we each had two, a variety. We had the chicken liver special...and it was one of the best dishes we've had in years. Then we had the avocado tomato starter salad. It was divine. Creamy and perfectly dressed. Then we had shrimp and grits with andouille, and it was the flavor star of the night. Hard to describe the yummy flavors. You just have to try. We also had the ribs which were fall of the bone tender. And the vege risotto. Ended the night with the key lime pie. Our server was fantastic and always showed up at the right time. We were told Chef Nora was in the kitchen and I hope you are all lucky enough to eat here. The service was amazing and everyone was friendly. They were very accommodating as we had our baby with us. My husband and I, both had the dry-aged ribeye steak, which was delicious! The Fork is definitely a place we will be going back to but on a date night without baby. read more

Food: 1/5 Cost: 1/5 Service Staff: 3/5 We ordered two bowls of soup (with 2 pieces of bread each), 1/2 a dozen oysters and a fried green tomato salad. The tomato soup was full of cheese and bland. The accompanying toast was burnt at $2 a piece. The oysters were the only redeeming quality but at $4 a pop it hardly felt worth it. The salad, that the wait staff told us would be larger than normal was a single slice of fried green tomato with a piece of mozzarella on top along with bits of maybe one leaf and three cherry tomatoes. At $12 for the plate I'd rather just eat raw unwashed tomatoes to fill my stomach. This was my most disappointing experience in La Conner. For those of you who read till the end, The Tavern is so much better and still has everything that The Fork serves. read more

I've loved this place. LOVED it. Had exceptional meals and great burgers when we didn't feel like going high end. But today I ordered that same burger, and either there is a major comedown happening here or they're having a bad day. Given that I've been here about 5 other times, I can forgive a bad day. But when the meat comes out as paste and the waitperson tries to gaslight me that I didn't know medium is pink in the middle, no f-ing way. Doesn't ask to refresh my obviously empty drink, but makes it about my "misperception." Another good spot compromises by lousy front of house. read more

The way this restaurant is presented on Yelp - burgers and tapas - is totally misleading! This establishment is much much more than that. It is a fine fine food establishment that deserves 7 stars!!! Amazing service, great little spot to great some good food. We chose to start with hush puppies and fried green tomatoes and follow that with some bouillabaisse. The hush puppies and tomatoes were great! The bouillabaisse, however, not so great. The crab had gone bad before it was cooked and had taken on a strong ammonia taste that was hard to shake. It ruined an otherwise amazing dish. I recommend The Fork but don't recommend the bouillabaisse. read more
