The burgers alone are worth 5 stars alone, but this place is definitely a must when you're in the area. You won't be disappointed!

Friendly people, seems to primarily employ local high school kids. So it's nice to see them getting work. Unfortunately the veggie burger is not a great choice (tastes like a Dr Prager patty). Fries are good though! Definitely okay in a pinch. The pull in parking is nice and way more relaxing than a drive through. I've never been inside. Hopefully if they read this they will expand the veggie burger options! Maybe get some impossible patties from Costco. read more

The hot dog was delicious. The fries were so crispy. Don't get me started on the shakes they so magnificently good. The service was old school fast. The ambience was classic. You can either order inside or drive up and they can take your order. They will give you your food while you're in your car. I recommend everyone try this place. They have a huge menu. read more

This sad little burger and a side of fries was $17.99 before tip and despite being advertised as "angus" (implying higher quality), it was inedible. Excellent food and service. I particularly enjoyed the drive in feature. Nothing like the old school feel of having lunch in your vehicle while enjoying fish and chips. There is a dining in option but we wanted to only experience the drive in. Easy location from our day visit from our nearby deception pass trip. I would definitely would recommend to get some good ol fish and chips, chowder and/or burger. read more

I had a hankerin' for fries and a shake so I pulled into the drive in and ordered a regular fries and a chocolate banana shake. The server was friendly and knowledgeable and hilarious. The shake and the fries were amazing. Huge amount of fresh made fries and the chocolate banana milk shake was so flavorful I almost started to cry. A perfect place for a perfect mid afternoon snack. Was driving through town and decided to stop here for a bite. I saw they had a crab sandwichch but couldn't find it on the menu, the server told me it was 20 bucks and that's why it wasn't on the menu. 20 bucks is a lot of money for a sandwich that comes with no sides, but I decided to try it because I really like crab, I wanted to taste this magical sandwich myself and I am clearly lacking in solid judgment. They are charging 17 dollars more for this sandwich then they should. It is served on ciabatta bread, which gives it the appearance of a hearty sandwich, but it's not. It's just a bready sandwich. There is a minuscule amount of crab, I had to take it apart, and lift up the lettuce and tomato to find the crab. This sandwich is the biggest scam. There is no flavour, it's just bland and overpriced. If you are going to charge this much for a sandwich, make sure it's magical or at least doesn't totally suck. Yes, I realize I didn't have to order it, especially since I knew the price. I took one for the team so now none of you have to waste your money, you're welcome. We ordered fries to split and they were shitty. Who messes up fries?? They weren't crispy or hot. When I asked the server if the crab was real, she didn't know. When. I asked what was on the sandwich, she didn't know. She did find out that lettuce and tomato were on the sandwich but not about the state of the crab. If you are going to have a pricey item on the menu your staff should know what is on it, if the ingredients are fresh, and how it is made. The place is subpar. Don't waste your time or money. I'm working in the area and decided to try the drive-in. The first time I went inside to order and eat. The ambience is clean and small. You order at the counter and they bring the food out when it's ready. There is a wide variety on the menu with healthier options like nice salads and then all the typical drive-in food (burgers, tots, french dip, ice cream, etc.) I got the double cheeseburger and tots meal. The food was fresh and tasted great! You get a large quantity of tots with the meal. Anther time I did the drive-in and got the french dip. It was also quite delicious. Plenty of beef and super fresh! My only negative was the price of the food. Times are definitely changing and long gone are the $5-10 meals. The burger and tots meal was around $14 + tip and the french dip was $18 + tip. I would choose this place over the local Jack in the Box or McDonald's if you're looking for quality "fast food" with a hometown feel. read more

Food poisoning. Got the double bacon cheese burger and tots. Been on and off the lew for 8 hours now ! First time back since 2012, burger was trash, no seasoning, tots tasted like the fryer oil hasn't been changed in months. This used to be a staple. Now I have the double dragon. read more

You know what. There is only a handful of places I can honestly say have super slutty and delicious burgers. And the fidalgo drive in is in the top five. The burger *chefs kiss* I got the half pound angus white American. And it was perfection. The meat was moist and full of flavor. It was saucy and the white cheddar really popped. It's like an old style drive in too. That staff are super friendly. The bathroom is located on the outside of the building. It's a single occupant bathroom, clean, and well maintained. 8/10 on the poopability scale. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to check out Anacortes on our way back to Port Townsend and were discouraged to discover many of the restaurants were closing soon for the day, short story short, we wandered around getting a look at the charming town and ran across Fidalgo Drive-In. What a surprise. The clam chowder was delicious as well as the Dungeness Crab Sandwich. My boyfriend got a chocolate malt while I chose a Peanut Butter Milkshake, and everything was delicious. Staff was low but they made due and were very friendly and helpful. We decided to grab another order of clam chowder, a peanut butter milkshake, and a Dungeness crab sandwich for the road as we had a very long ferry ride back to Port Townsend, and the chowder was delicious later on down the road, still very warm and it kept well through the drive. This was our first time in the area and we love trying new places. We drove by this retro looking drive in and decided to turn around and try it. We were not disappointed! The menu was pretty vast, but we decided to try a good old burger and fries. The staff came out quickly and took our orders, and as you can see in our photos we were pretty hungry. The burgers were tasty and a very good price! The fries and tarter were really good too! Love going to the Fidalgo they have excellent fish and chips and they have a wonderful white cheddar Angus burger. That is delicious beautiful slice of tomato fresh lettuce on a brioche bun. The fish and chips comes with chowder. They also have fantastic milkshakes. The blackberry one is the best ! I've also had the French dip and it's excellent . I think the thing that brings me occasionally to Fidalgo Drive-In is nostalgia. Like when I'm feeling stressed or running about, pulling into Fidalgo can feel like a blast from the past, a time when things happened more slowly, when (usually girls) on rollerskates delivered food to your car window. Since I'm trying to be health conscious, this isn't something I do often. Prices are reasonable AND they serve breakfast until noon. As others have mentioned, it can take a while to get service and the service can feel various levels of transactional. If you're on a budget, want service to your car or dining in, and need something to keep you on the road or whatever, this may be a place for you. read more

I am an almost 76 year old business owner in Anacortes and have had multiple surgeries to my leg. I called to place a pick-up order. I was hung up on twice but then my order was taken. I arrived in my son's truck (my vehicle needed a repair), and called to let them know I arrived. After the second time of being hung up on, the young woman finally acknowledged I was outside. ( In the past I had called in and picked up the order with no issue). She came out, then I commented that I was being hung up on. She replied she couldn't hear me so she hung up. She stated I should get out of the vehicle and press the button for service like everyone else does. I explained the difficulties doing that when she started arguing with me. I stated I was just here to pick-up my order and did not want an argument. She leaves. The owner comes out saying "we do things our way here, not yours: You can eat elsewhere." He was rude, aggressive and uninterested if I had any thoughts on the event. I had frequented the drive-in, but was discouraged when one recent meal made me sick (which I considered an out of sorts event), and then twice the hamburger buns were obviously stale. Then this happens: abusive, unkind arrogance. This establishment is really messed up. He was right on one point, I will eat elsewhere. ' read more

Wanted a place where we could eat in the car, kind of like A and W Rootbeer used to be. The place was hopping as we pulled into the lot and saw the menu on the post. Hubs ordered Fish and chips and I, a Turkey burger and onion rings. His meal was enormous. He had chowder, garlic bread, fish and steak fries, and more. Could not finish it all. My burger was ok, the onion rings hot and crunchy. Next time we will split the food. Bad Hamburgers. Simple as that. They used to be good. But twice in a row now we've come here and have been extremely disappointed. Last time they never came to our car, we had to go inside. Forgot our onions. Bummer, but that happens. But hamburgers were just blah. Specifically Bacon Cheeseburger. It's been a couple months. We were starving. Thought maybe last time was an off day & we should try again. But nope. Bacon cheeseburgers were just not good. And they went to other cars that got there after us first. We pushed the button. Not sure why they have such a hard time coming to our car?? It was definitely not busy. I'm not even sure why hamburgers are so bad. They're very thin, that's for sure. Not much sauce. With crab meat being rather expensive, I was not expecting to have a lot on a $10 sandwich and there was not much but enough to have the flavor. Will try the burger next time.
