Possibly the best croissants that I've ever had, including France. I kid you not, these house made croissants are the flakiest, melt in your mouth, best! The locally owned shop is dang cute and tiny. You walk right into the kitchen and order off the bakers rack. The staff was friendly and helpful to us first timers. We picked up a savory ham and cheese croissant and one of their popular cinnamon rolls. The pastries are pricey but huge and shareable. The cinnamon roll melts in your mouth. The icing is light and addictive. There is a charming natural garden and patio with seating to sit, relax and eat outside. They also sell fresh assorted breads. Parking is limited in their tiny reserved lot. There were four spaces. If I lived closer, I'd be here every morning. It's that good.

Dark chocolate pumpkin muffin

DELICIOUS! Didn't get a chance to take a picture of my chocolate almond croissant before I inhaled it. My friend has been several times and swears by the double almond croissant. We also got the dark chocolate pumpkin muffin and it was amazing as well! Such a cute spot to get a pastry and the owner is so kind and helpful!

If you haven't tried Rene's you haven't tried anything! Rene's is a good little bakery with only space to order takeout. Their croissants aren't the usual croissants, it's syrup flavor and croissant in a wholesome combination! Warm syrupy and delicious in every layer! Rene just was worth the hype! I ordered a brownie too which was chewy fudgy with the right amount of chocolatiness! Service is super quick if you go right after opening! Rene's serves a variety of fresh bread too and has a good menu ready for you to make a choice.

This is the place to be for pastries. We arrived on a Saturday morning and there was a long line of people waiting. The storefront is very small so only a couple customers can stand inside at a time. Overall, it was a bit overwhelming. I wish they had a menu posted outside that you could read while waiting, as it did take a while for us to get through the line. Once inside the display case was empty, and the employees ask what you'd like... and well you can't see anything and there was no menu. All the pastries we tried were delicious!

Cinnamon roll. Sorry half eaten!

Amazing baked goods fresh and aromatic! Just walking up you can feel like you're on the streets of Paris entering a shop. Awesome bread and breakfast options. Can't wait to slice the wheat after digging into the pumpkin muffin and frosted cinnamon roll. Awesome!

When I moved to Indy a little over a year ago, I was excited to try Rene's and never quite found a time in my schedule to visit before they closed. Now that they are open again, I have enjoyed several delicious visits and can definitely see what all the fuss is about. So far I've only tried the pastries, but every one was a beautifully laminated, perfectly flaky, wonderfully flavored treat. I've had their plain buttered croissants, blackberry danish, vanilla croissant, almond croissant, almond-filled pan au chocolat, and more, each with its own distinctly yummy flavors. My favorite so far is the vanilla croissant, since it has a much lighter sweetness. Everyone at the bakery is very friendly and kind, helping you pick out exactly what you're craving that day. The place is tiny, so only a couple groups are allowed in at once, which is also something I love since I often get to have short little chats with other pastry-goers. There is a real sense of community here and I love it!

Small and cute bakery. I tried the butter croissant decent, though I prefer Amelia's. The wheat rolls were great, especially with butter. Quick, friendly service. Worth checking out!

We get all of our bread from here, in addition the ham and cheese croissant is very good. The wife loves their chocolate chip cookies.

Does Rene's provide baked goods to other restaurants in Broad Ripple/Indy? Sometimes I've come across other places with pastries and whatnot and they either look or taste very familiar.

I'm not sure how often this is on the menu, but this would be a regular order for me. After our lunch, I ventured over to the market/cafe side to work a bit. Loved that this had some great gifts and food items to peruse, as well as great coffee drinks to choose from. While I was there I chatted with a very new mom (baby was less than a week old); she had chosen Borage as her first trip out of the house -- that says something! Whoever you are... thank you. You changed my life. The sweet woman behind the counter heard where I was from and handed me a complimentary glazed yeast donut. Let me tell you... WHEW! It wasn't even fresh out of the oven, and it still melted in my mouth. Light, soft, perfectly glazed... I knew right then I was in trouble. I ended up buying a box with blueberry cake, applesauce cake, cinnamon sugar, Bavarian cream, glazed yeast, and a few others. Everything was incredibly fresh, and at those prices, I had to double-check the menu because I thought I was reading it wrong! When I got back to my parents' house in Louisville, we warmed a few up for just a few seconds. Game over. They somehow tasted even better. My plan was to take some to church tomorrow to share... but judging by how fast they're disappearing, I may be testifying about them instead. Before I left, the woman smiled and said, "Make sure you come back when you're in town." Oh, I'll be back. I may even create reasons to drive through Indianapolis now. Long's Bakery doesn't need fancy displays or trendy flavors. They simply make outstanding donuts with friendly service and prices that make you wonder if they accidentally forgot inflation. 10/10. Worth every mile of the detour.

Yes, these are quite a bit pricer that's for sure. People were buying one of everything in line. I was like wow! Some Items the combinations of flavors didn't appeal to me. I love tiramisu and pecan pie so I got them both. One suggestion I would have is to have utensils and napkins at the table for people to use. The pastries I bought are really temperature sensitive and need to be kept cold. Both had a cream - mousse inside. They wouldn't last long only a day or to the next. I loved the pecan item I ordered. It was great! The tiramisu one I wouldn't order again. The bottom flakey part was so bitter. I love coffee and expresso and tiramisu. But, the whole thing just wasn't what I thought it would taste like. Now I know. :-( Creamy, sweet, smooth, with a kick of coffee all come together to make a great tiramisu. This is what most people love about it. I don't know if they are planning on opening a store or not. The pop ups are doing well it seems. What went from ordering 1 pastry each turned into 8 total.. and we regret nothing. The Tiramisu Danish was exactly as I had hoped for! The bitter taste of espresso paired with the sweet mascarpone cream filling reminded me of the holidays when I would watch my mom make tiramisu for our family. While a lot of people prefer a sweeter espresso, I thought this was perfect and very true to a traditional tiramisu taste The Pear Kouglof reminded me of a fresh yeast donut that's been tossed in sugar This was a very kid-friendly pastry in taste and while I wasn't too blown away by it, it did make me wonder if I would have preferred it with a stronger, more potent, fruit. The Cherry Basque Cheesecake -- this pastry was the house favorite. The texture of this cheesecake was creamy, but somehow still spongey.. cakey, but more like pudding. Mix that with the juiciest sour cherries and the crunch of a biscoff crust.. mind blown was an understatement. We're looking forward to what Beurre Sec has planned for their next pop-up
