Really enjoyed my experience at Remington's, but my review can't be complete because we only stopped for a bottle of wine and apps. That being said, the creamed spinach was a new twist, being more creamed and cheesy, with a wicked good cheese crust on top, and no hassle when I asked for rolls to try it on, and Tresa ordered the lobster deviled eggs, and loved them! Servers and bussers alike were attentive, open and nice. Wine list was very good. Had a Sancere which was perfect. Execution on both dishes was excellent, and I'm very looking forward to going back to try the entrees. Great hour and a half with great food and drink, and people watching in Michigan Ave. :) read more

Bottom Line: Classy Michigan Avenue bar and restaurant with nice entrees and more casual options too. Remington's is on Michigan Avenue and is a great spot to enjoy drinks, shellfish or an entree. The dinner menu ranges from salads and sandwiches to prime rib and fresh fish. My husband had the Branzino (sea bass) that was served with asparagus. I enjoyed the Wrightwood salad which had rotisserie chicken, craisins, goat cheese and carrots with a light vinaigrette dressing. Even though I usually push my croutons to the side I thoroughly enjoyed the corn bread croutons in this salad. Although I did not partake, I saw that Remington's had an extensive wine list, local beers and cocktails. Remington's has the atmosphere of a classy old school steak restaurant. There is a lot of wood inside and the lighting is dim during the dinner hour. The atmosphere and great service makes for an intimate and relaxing experience. The food is a good value. Remington's does not have valet parking so a ride share or public transportation may be the best options for getting there. I would give this restaurant a 7/10. The food was good - nothing really extraordinary. The best thing i tasted was the filet sliders (an appetizer). My filet for entree was good but one my friend's prime rib came out cold. The restaurant also does not have any nut allergy friendly desserts aside from ice cream which is disappointing (but when i ordered the cookie skillet, the only nuts i found were candied whole nuts so they are easy to take off or not put on at all if requested). The service was not the best. Our server was taking care of a private party so it's understandable that he was busy but it took very long in between table touches so when he came back, there were a lot of requests (i.e. to go containers, ordering to-go food, dessert not arriving). read more

I really try to avoid the places on Michigan as they tend to be tourist traps and overpriced for what it is. A buddy of mine wanted to go to Remingtons for drinks on a Saturday night, yes even worse going to the loop on a weekend! Haha. Anyways came to Remington's and left as a fan! First, let's talk about their cocktails. They are absolutely delicious! I started off with an Old Fashion. Listen anyone that's going to make an Old Fashion with one large ice cube, you have already won me over. The Old fashion was delicious. They also had another whiskey base cocktail called The Bean. I'll drink anything with whiskey and scotch in it. I asked the bartender and she said if you don't like Fernet, don't get the drink. Well guess what? I like fernet, ahha. So I went the bean as well and it was a very interesting drink, but at the end of the day it was good. I have to respect the idea of really trying something out of the box and this hit home. For food I went with the All American Burger. The fries were delicious, the burger for the most part was good. The only complaint I had was the cheese they put in my burger was....not melted and just slabbed on. You can see based on the picture. Usually I like my burger a little bit melted especially if I'm going to spend $15 for one. All in all, Remington's was a solid place. There were six of us that came for lunch and I'm glad we made reservations because the place was packed on a Tuesday afternoon. We were seated at a large table in the back and we enjoyed the space and privacy. During our visit we opted to try the restaurant week menu. The rock shrimp tempura was delicious and the portions are generous. We definitely did not leave here hungry. Unfortunately the prime rib in the french dip sandwich was disappointing. The meat was too medium rare for my taste (I prefer medium to medium well). Also, the toasting on the bun tasted bitter as if it was burnt. I did not want to waste the food or take it home so I just ate what I could. The flourless chocolate cake for dessert was so moist and chocolatey and delicious. It helped to cleanse my palate of the burnt french dip bun. Although the restaurant week menu online offers the key lime pie as an additional choice of dessert, the restaurant week menu at the restaurant substituted that pie out for a chocolate chip cookie with ice cream. Just an FYI for those of you wanting key lime pie. The service here was exceptional. Our server Anna was great and the manager checked on us a few times and even delivered our desserts to us. Everyone was very friendly and attentive and they allowed us to each pay our portion of the bill separately. I'd definitely come back here to try a different entree on their menu. read more

Had an amazing experience at Remington. Kirk was our server and he did a fantastic job waking and guiding us through the menu. He made the experience 10x better. He recommended the filet sliders and they were so good we snapped a picture of the recipe to take home and make. The drinks were worth every penny(we got the purple rain and the Moscow mule). Steak and burgers were fantastic and even though we were stuffed we got desert because we just had to know if it tasted as good as everything else(it was). Fantastic restaurant in a great area with amazing staff. When we come back to Chicago Remingtons will be our first visit without a doubt. read more

My family of three came here for my husband's birthday dinner and we enjoyed it immensely! We had a reservation and called ahead to see if we could get in a bit earlier. It was a cold, snowy Sunday night and they said we could come right in. Due to trouble finding parking we actually arrived right on time. (They don't currently have valet and we were not about to pay a minimum of $32 or more for the Grant Park garage even though it's the closest to this busy Michigan Ave location.) We got lucky and found a spot around the corner, although next time we will probably take a Lyft. Anyway, they have a lovely waiting area so I was almost sad that we didn't have to wait. Love the wine cellar, too! Actually the whole interior is beautiful. Jenna, the hostess, was very pleasant and seated us right away. Nick, our server, was prompt and attentive throughout our meal. There are so many appealing things on the menu that it was hard to decide. We had drinks, shrimp cocktail, the amazing crab toast, and hubby and I split a crab Louis salad to start. (They were kind enough to divide it in half for us.) Our daughter ordered the turkey burger which was huge and she said it was among the best she's ever had. She also had the mac 'n cheese, which is rich and sinfully delicious!! Hubby and I tasted it and agreed that it was out of this world good! While he usually enjoys prime rib, he ordered the fish selection (at market price, but still very reasonable) which was halibut, one of his favorites. It was served on top of a bok choy medley and he shared it with me, as I shared my ribeye and stuffed baked potato with him. I ordered it medium rare and while it was just a bit undercooked, it was seasoned well, tender and melted in my mouth. Plus there wasn't any blood, so it was fine with me! I like pink, but can't do blood. I switched from my martini to a malbec which went well with the steak. Hubby enjoyed their bloody Mary's, which were served with pint sized beer and the usual garnishments. I had mentioned that it was his birthday, yet apparently they don't do anything special for such occasions. So I ordered a dessert for us (the cookie skillet...vanilla ice cream, pecans and caramel on top of a warm chocolate chip cookie!) and although we were stuffed, we enjoyed it. We had a few yummy doggy bags to take home. The restrooms are downstairs and I forgot to ask if there is an elevator. I am thinking my parents would love this place, but my mom can't do stairs. I went here for lunch with my sister in law who was in town visiting from California. I had the Wrightwood salad and a cup of shrimp/corn soup. The food was all good. But the Wrightwood was light on the chicken and could have been more flavorfully dressed - it was a little bland. What i did not appreciate is that the portions were light. I felt hungry within 90 minutes. The food here needs to be heartier for the cost, which is not low. Service here was good. The menu has a nice range of options from relatively cheap sandwiches to expensive steaks. I probably will be back here and try something else. read more

We went to this restaurant for lunch in July and loved it. First of all, I was surprised that it wasn't crowded. Maybe the dinner menu scared people because it does appear expensive, but we had lunch and the food was delicious. At our table, we had the french dip, chicken dip, and the turkey burger. I had some of each and all were yummy. The turkey burger was uniquely spectacular. The french dip was one of the best I have had, and a chicken dip? Say what! Delicious! LOL. Last night, my girlfriend and I visited Remmingtons restaurant to celebrate my recent promotion and the fantastic beginning of 2024. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the host, Melany, who escorted us to our high-top table and introduced us to our server, Ximena. Right away from our walk to our tables, I realized the neighboring table was relishing a mouthwatering prime rib, catching my attention. Throughout the evening, Ximena provided impeccable service, guiding us through their enticing deals, including the Chicago Restaurant Week specials. Despite opting for a selection of appetizers such as Tuna Poke and Mac & Cheese instead of the Restaurant Week menu, the initial delight took a downturn when our main course arrived. We had ordered the 16oz Prime Rib with loaded potato and additional sides and salads. The missteps began when the sides arrived five minutes ahead of the Prime Rib, and to our dismay, the meat was served extremely rare instead of the requested medium. Recognizing the error, Ximena promptly took the dish back to rectify it. Regrettably, upon its return, the sides, which had been sent prematurely, were cold. Despite our best efforts to salvage the meal, the Prime Rib returned cooked medium-rare, a letdown for my date who preferred no pink in her meat. Upon inquiring with another table that had ordered the prime rib, we discovered they too had faced temperature-related problems with their dish. Despite the frustration caused by the culinary mishaps, we appreciated the warmth and hospitality extended by Melany and Ximena. The supervisor's efforts to acknowledge the issues were noted, but the overall enjoyment was overshadowed by the unfortunate lapses in the kitchen. One of my very good friends swears by this place when it comes to a great dining experience and a great steak. Due to his recommendation, our crew decided this would be our place to go to for our monthly dining outing this October. Our group of 4 had a 6pm Friday night reservation and I got there a little early with another friend so we grabbed seats at the bar. They have a pretty decent happy hour deal with $2 oysters and $5 drafts. Patrons next to me were raving about the oysters so I'm definitely gonna have to come back for that. The bar area is really cool as it has TVs so you can see whats going on in sports and watch a game and do some very nice people watching. Had a couple of $5 drafts while we waited for the others as they had a pretty good selection. Once the other 2 made it, we were shown to our seats which we got some nice scenery of the wine wall on the way to our seats. We started out with grilled artichokes and crab toast for appetizers in which both were very good, especially the artichokes. I washed it down with a glass of rose' of course as that is my forte. I knew coming into this situation that I was gonna get the 16 oz ribeye (medium rare) with loaded baked potato. Steak was pretty good and the baked potato was fabulous. I ate the majority of the ribeye but saved some for breakfast with eggs the next day. We then decided dessert was gonna happen. We went with the key lime pie (very good) and the cookie skillet w/ice cream (yum). Our server Ryan was a very nice guy with a twisty mustache. I like Remington and even though its on Michigan Ave right across from Millennium Park, it doesn't seem to be a tourist trap which is awesome. I've been in to "wedge salads" lately. I judge a restaurant by their Caesar and Wedge salads. Not everyone is looking for a burger or steak. Majority of sit down restaurants have both of these salads on their menu, yet they all do it differently. Which I love! :) I love Remington's wedge salad. I've had MANY in the city and this is still my favorite after 2 years of trying many restaurants. I will say , the head of lettuce used to be large but the last couple of months, it's been pretty small. Noticeably smaller. I'm guessing due to inflation. The price hasn't went up, yet the portion (head of lettuce) has gotten much smaller. Remington's also has an impressive wine selection. My guy and I both love a glass of Prisoner. Not on the menu for "wines by the glass" but they usually have it by the glass if you inquire. They also have Orin Swift's, "8 yeas in the Desert" which is a fantastic red. This is by the bottle. The staff here has always been very friendly. I'll continue to visit and recommend. read more

Bruce was a great waiter. He answered all of our question and was friendly and polite. If you're making reservations, ask to sit in his section. We all ordered different meals and everyone was impressed by what they got. I got the veggie burger and it was good. Definitely not the best veggie burger I've ever had but the accompaniments were delicious which makes me think their meat burger is probably amazing. The patty is made of rice, sweet potatoes and spices. I would say it's 85% rice and if you're not a fan of rice patties, then I'd say skip it. Since this seems to be the only veggie entree option (besides salads), I wish the patty was better. I would still return. The menu changes by the season, so maybe the spring option will be better. The meat options were perfectly cooked and my friends were pleased with what they got. If you're planning on selecting a meat dish, I'd recommend you visit this restaurant. read more
