I will never go back after the experience I had. Literally have never even written a review before, but I think it's important that people know about my experience. The hair dresser, Diego, combed out my hoop earring (very small, cartilage piercing I have had for only a few months). Blood everywhere. $80 gold earring broken. He was very apologetic, and gave me a tissue. Not knowing what to do, as it was mid-cut, I stayed. Later on in the same haircut he cut himself with his scissors! Never once in life have I had a haircut where the hair dresser cuts them self. So now, I'm bleeding, as is he. Shocked... Naturally I assumed I would be offered a discount. But left paying full price $100 frantically searching for a piercing parlor to get a new earring. Hours later, having to repierce my ear, I was out yet another $150 (for earring and piercing). After processing what had happened the next day, I called to talk to the manager to let her know I left truly just feeling I was not well taken care of at the salon. The manager was busy and another woman took my call. After sharing my experience, she assured me she would talk to Diego and would see if they could compensate me. I was told I would hear back by end of day at the latest. This was Friday... I'm glad I didn't hold my breath. Terrible customer experience. I would strongly encourage you to go elsewhere... there are literally salons on every block. Not worth it. read more

Today was my first visit to refleKTion; it was a warm, welcoming, and hip boutique. They offered me coffee during my hair cut which was a very nice touch. This was my first time here and the moment I walked through the door I was immediately greeted! Which I love, I feel like it sets the tone for the rest of your visit, not only was the receptionist delightful, he was genuine and kind. After he checked me in, he gave me a quick little tour, and offered me a beverage while I waited. My stylist by request was Krystal! I follow her instagram @hairbykrystalc and fell in love with her work! Plus she does my best friends hair and she always looks fabulous! She actually listened to me, ask me about my likes/dislikes and concerns, and gave me her professional feedback on what I was trying to achieve. To paint a picture I had a L.O.B. Before coming in and I hated it. I hated how heavy it was in the front and light in the back. It was just a terrible haircut from a different salon. She managed to not only fix it, but took only what she needed off keeping my hair to its medium length which is what I wanted! She listened to me and understood me! I will be returning! Oh and she gave me some pointers on the hair products being used on my hair and I loved it. Found the salon on Yelp with good reviews and walkable from where I live. They maintained COVID precautions with masks and hygiene. My stylist, Ieva, asked what kind of cut I wanted and listened carefully and made sure I was comfortable. She washed my hair beforehand and was easy to talk to. As she was trimming she always made sure it was ok and if I wanted more cut. I loved my (3-4 inch layered trim) and will go back to her again! read more

I was considering getting a Keratin treatment for a while but was worried my hair would get too straight so I spoke to Diego about my concerns and he took the time to not only listen to me, but also customize the uberliss kertain treatment specifically to my hair type! I just got my hair cut with Jaquelyn B yesterday, and I love it! I took a risk and when the shortest I have ever gone because I am trying to grow my grey hair out. I had previously spoken to Jaquelyn via Zoom about my plan to let my natural hair grow out. It was great to have had that contact with Jaquelyn before going to the salon. When I went in yesterday, we talked about how short I wanted to get my hair cut, I shared some pictures, and then she went to work! Okay so Diego is hands down a miracle worker. He knew exactly what I needed for my dry, thin, scraggly hair and had pictures prepared tailored to my specific needs. The color and cut turned out better & beyond what I even thought my hair could look like. After my color and cut, he showed me an easy & effortless way to style my specific hair based on what I had told him and I loved all of the details! I was 10 minutes early to my 7:30 appointment. I was greeted upon arrival by the front desk person who checked me in, told me where to sit and offered me a beverage. After another few minutes, they came back over and gave me a run down of the salon, their sustainability efforts, and where everything was located. After hearing all of this info, I was even more excited to give this place a try because it all sounded great! Another 20 minutes passed by with no indication of where my stylist was or when I would be seated for my 7:30 appointment. Before I knew it, 40 minutes of waiting had passed and there was no communication about when my haircut would begin. At this point, taking my appointment would have made me late for another commitment I had that evening so I left disappointed. I wish I could have gotten to try this place since I live in the neighborhood, however they have proven that they do not respect customers time which is unfortunate and I will not be returning. read more

(I was looking to book on a Thurs or Friday, for a Sat or Sun) The salon is a bit smaller than other places I've been to, but everyone was beyond friendly. The receptionist was amazing and efficient. She even was doing the sweeping of the stations, rather than the hair dresser. The hair stylist listened to exactly what I wanted based on some pictures, and was so thorough with her work. Got my hair cut and colored by Roxi, and I am more than happy. The salon itself is so cute and cozy, and the water with oranges and lime in it was a great touch. Roxi really took the time to listen and even gave me a product recommendation based on a super small detail I had mentioned to her in the beginning. I'm also Polish, so I'm protective of my wide face and was anxious about losing length. Madison was great--she asked me about my favorite salon experience, how much time I spend each day styling my hair, etc and took my laziness into consideration. She worked some serious magic--to give me volume in the back without taking too much she did angled cuts and made my grown out dye job feel fresh and neat. My very first yelp review! This salon is AMAZING. Recently moved to Chicago from Ireland and I had to try a few different places to find the right one. A colleague referred me and I got my first appointment with Roxi.. who I have gone to ever since. They are soo polite and friendly, when waiting for the bleach or whatever colouring to do it's thing, time flies by as you chat away. Roxi offers amazing advice whenever I tell her what I'm thinking of doing this time (thank u gal!) and she walks me through the process so I know exactly what's going to happen and what to expect- no surprises. The salon is very clean and has an overall great vibe. Very friendly, wine, coffee or water upon request, and some lovely music. There's no better place to spend a few hours getting your balayage touched up.. or just a simple cut to keep up with things! This hair salon exceeded my expectations! I needed to switch salons because my previous hair stylist left and it wasn't convenient for me to get to. I started searching and found refleKTion. I always used to walk past the salon but never set up an appointment until last weekend. It's right off the 22/36 bus stop. The receptionist was friendly and offered me a glass of white wine (nice perk). Maria took her time asking me questions about what products I use in my hair, what my favorite experiences have been in previous salons, and etc. She told me about the natural products that she planned to use in my hair. i came across this salon on intstagram and followed for a while. i also reseached this salon online, and it was extremely convenient and helpful to read about the stylists on the website, and you can book an appt right online, and see each stylists availablity. the place is cute and hip, but not in in an over the top way. just walking in, it's a beautiful small space that looks clean and shiny and new, yet warm and comfortable. josh was at the desk, and was as sweet as can be. professional, personable, and genuine. my stylist was DIEGO, and honestly he was even more likable, talented and engaging than i expected. he listens really well, gives good feedback and ideas. he explains clearly and carefully everything he is going to do, and is excited and interested, which makes me excited and interested! he does everything with such passion and style, it's infectious. he washed my hair and i think it was the best thing anyone has ever done to me, in my entire life. i have never had anyone give me such a long luxious delicious smelling head massage. honestly, it was so amazing, i would have just paid and left. but then he also gave me the raddest haircut ever. he was just really phenomenal. i felt welcomed and appreciated and important. it was a quiet day with good music playing. just a very satisfying and pleasant experience in every way. i have already booked my next appt with diego. and my hair is super foxy. read more

When I went in for balayage and a drastic hair cut, I was welcomed with a glass of wine and Krystal made sure I felt comfortable before chopping my long hair. Best part, you ask? Super friendly staff here, came in to get a men's cut but was a little disappointed. I have gotten my hair cut in several big cities but this was by far the most mediocre haircut I have ever gotten. Even students at Aveda know how to cut men's hair better. The haircut was decent but 2 weeks later after it grew out a little, it looked awful, not to mention they charge a pretty penny for mediocre talent. They need to re-educate their stylist on men's cuts. Side note: their reservation notification system is not user-friendly. They recommend you set up a follow-up appointment with the receptionist before you leave. One week prior they will send you a notification to confirm but you don't have the option to cancel? So not only did I get a shitty haircut, they make it hard to cancel the follow up appointment. read more
