Update: The salon owner responded below to excuse their blatant attempt to keep my stylist's clients without forwarding his information. She stated they did not know who the stylist was since a lot of time had passed. This review was for my haircut in Spring 2020, quite immediately after my stylist had left. The salon was calling clients to reschedule those whose appointments were cancelled due to the pandemic lockdown and specifically said that my stylist was no longer cutting hair (not that they didn't know who he was) when I asked to rebook him. Big difference in the message and led to me booking with someone else. Original: The first hair stylist I had was excellent. When I attempted to rebook, they told me my stylist was no longer cutting hair. I booked with another senior stylist who turned out to be inexperienced with managing thick hair and gave me a badly layered haircut. Thankfully, I later found out that Reflektion salon had lied about my stylist - he had started his own salon, and I immediately booked with him to save my hair. read more

Yesterday, I received an absolutely perfect and beautiful haircut by Leva! This was my first experience at a hair salon in Chicago, as I just recently moved here. She exceeded my expectations and went above and beyond to make sure that it was exactly what I wanted. Everyone in the salon was very kind and accommodating. I can't wait to go back! read more

This review is way overdue, I had an appointment with Madison L on February 1, 2018. I was really excited because my mom is a client at the RefleKTion salon in Naperville and she said she had a great experience. My appointment was for hair color and a haircut. In the past I have had so many issues getting exactly why I want when it comes to hair color. I show the stylist a photo (which is the photo from Pinterest that is attached here). And I never get what I ask. I talked to Madison and explained this issue to her and showed her the photo of what I wanted. My hair is naturally blonde, so it should not be difficult to dye it lighter, my hair naturally pulls warm tones so I know to say do not put any warmth in my hair ONLY cool tones. Madison told me she completely understood and would do her best to give me what I wanted and that it might take two sessions to get it where I want. Which in the moment I thought made sense but after seeing a friend who has BLACK hair and was able to get what I wanted within two session I knew something was wrong. Madison dyed my hair and I could barely tell a difference. I went home, showered and when I got ready the next day I noticed that the highlights she put in made my roots look like it had stripes so I called and came back in. The following day I had friends take photos of me as seen in the after photo and you can see a clear line or the roots and what was supposed to be lighter area. As you can tell the before picture was closer to what I wanted vs what I got. I payed close to $300 at refleKTion Salon. I feel like I wasted so much money here and did not get what I wanted. This review is not against Madison, she is a very friendly stylist and from her photos on Instagram I can tell she does a good job, I unfortunately did not get what I wanted though, and paid a lot which obviously frustrating l. read more

I booked an appointment with Luis and walked in with a horrible haircut I had when visiting Miami. Luis was very attentive to my concerns and gave a very thorough consultation. I loved my haircut when I walked out and waited to review to see how it looked when I styled it myself. It was easy to style and I still love my haircut. My next appointment will definitely be with Luis. read more

I have been a happy client of RefleKTion Salon for a couple years and have always been satisfied. Recently my stylist had a family emergency so the salon called to inform me and rescheduled me with Maria. She turned out to be yet another skilled stylist! I especially appreciated the education she provided on how to blow dry my hair. I asked about the products she was using and while she told me about them she wasn't pushy to have me buy them which I appreciated. You really can't do wrong with any of the talent at RefleKTion Salon! I highly recommend. read more

I never walk into a salon with a picture, often the results can be different and thus disappointing. I enjoy just letting the stylist know what treatment I am in for and have them suggest what would be best suited for my hair type, face shape and skin tone. Save for a bad experience here or there, this has often worked really well for me and I think the stylists also enjoy the creative process a lot more. Simply put, I have respect for their expertise. I was at this salon for the first time and made an appointment with Diego, who is one of the senior stylists. He asked me what I was in for and I informed him that I want to change my hair colour and how far I was willing to go to change it and that I wanted something extremely low maintenance. He gave me highlights with a glossing treatment to ensure a a subtle transition from my naturally dark hair to the highlights. Exactly what I wanted, not a in-your-face blonde, but warm copper tones which will fade out in time for spring. He also gave me a hair cut which added volume to my otherwise flat hair. Upon entering you are offered beverages to a tour of the salon and the products offered. In addition to Deigo's expertise, another major plus point for me is their green approach to everything from the sustainably sourced products offered to recycling hair! Definitely going back for my follow up in a 10 weeks. Hard to find a salon and stylist who listens and delivers and does not recommend products or treatments in a bid to make more money. read more

Wow! Probably the BEST cut and color yet. I am always looking to stay relevant and 312... if you know what I mean. I don't want to look like a suburban soccer mom or have the same cut and color as everyone else. Katie keeps it so current and is always ahead of the Chicago Trend Scene. I always receive compliments and stares (in a good way). My latest color is called "Splash Lights" Amazing color that looks like light is reflecting from my long bob!!! I LOVE IT! Sometimes I feel like I need a new look, want to feel like a new woman, need a new personality to add to the others I keep... ya know... just a change to make me feel good and fresh! If you are open to new and trendy and up for a change I would go see Katie!!! If you love the long Victoria Secret hair I would go and see Diego - he is a freaking miracle worker! And he loves long hair! I go back and fourth depending if I have extensions or not. (They also do amazing REAL looking locks!) Tell them Amy sent ya! Happy Hair and may every day be a great hair day! read more

I'm new to writing reviews and new to RefleKTion Salon. From the moment of walking in their door to my leaving of their premises, I felt that I've found my new place for hair care. It seems that management is concerned with how the salon represents themselves and the associates represent themselves as professionals who like their place of work. Good vibe without blaring music or loud chatter and believe me,, I like music.. I'm a middle aged guy who was very pleased with Jaquelyn's communication and attentiveness. She asked specific questions and answered my concerns. I mostly appreciate her advice with self styling at home. I was introduced to new products,, but not pushed to buy. I feel great about the small affordable gel purchased and it's doing the trick. Thank You RefleKTion Salon. read more

I cannot recommend this salon enough! I had finally had it with people messing my hair up. I decided it was time to commit to a salon. I found reflKTion Salon and have never been happier. Krystal C is absolutely AMAZING. She did a consult with me first to really see what I was looking for and to just understand my hair. I booked my appointment and anxiously awaited for the day to arrive. Krystal gave me exactly what I was looking for and more. She took what I wanted and made it come to life. I felt so safe with her doing my hair, not to mention the head massage is INCREDIBLE. I have sent a few of my friends to Krystal and all of them have loved her and continue to go back to her. If you're looking for a great salon this is the place. Coloring and Cut have been perfect every time. Don't forget to grab a glass of wine or beer while Krystal works her magic! read more

Had a great experience on my recent visit here. Roxi is a wonderful stylist, she had read the notes from the online appointment beforehand, took the time to chat with me about the haircut, and offer suggestions. The shampoo was so refreshing and she diligently worked on my hair and took my feedback at every step. She's very sweet and friendly, and it was a pleasure talking to her. Their products smelt great and felt very clean on my hair. This was also my first time at a salon post covid and I was really satisfied with all their safety measures. They only let in people who have an appointment. All the stylists and customers wore masks, empty chairs were left between clients to maintain social distancing, shelves had been sanitized and payment was contactless. The overall vibe at the salon was very comfortable and friendly. A wonderful experience overall, and I will definitely return! read more

There is so much to be said about this salon and my experience. But first let me start off by saying I have had some really bad hair experiences in my life that have caused me to learn how to style my own hair and not trust hair stylists. But after seeing everyone I know getting their hair styled by Krystal Colon, I started growing curious. So I finally got the nerve to set an actual appointment. And let me tell you I was inboxing her about hair for about a year before I committed (Thank God for her patience). As soon as I walked in the salon I absolutely loved it! Welcomed & toured by Andrew (He's also a great DJ, their music was definitely a vibe thanks to him)! Learned so much about the salon, hair care, and how they are eco friendly. I never had a salon that explained their products to me in such depth, I loved it! AND KRYSTAL! LET ME TELL YOU! She is amazing! She really took the time to understand my concerns about my hair as well as my favorite things and guided me on how I should care for my hair. NO ONE AND I MEAN NO ONE HAS EVER CONSULTED ME ABOUT MY HAIR THE WAY SHE DID, NO ONE! Got the best massage while getting shampooed. And she told me everything she was going to do before she did it. I never felt so comfortable in a hair salon. Also the other stylist are very friendly and positive! My overall experience was the absolute best, I will be a regular customer. Thank you RefleKTion Salon! You really gave me an experience not just a hair cut! P.S. I showed her a Pinterest photo and she got it down to a T!! read more

This salon is filled with wonderful service! The receptionist is very welcoming, and during my first visit, she gave me a little tour to show me where everything is and gave info about the products they use. I also love how you can make an appointment online, and they send text reminders when your appointment is coming up. I had my first visit with Krystal, and she's so great!! I wanted to cut my long locks that were almost at my belly button, to just past my shoulders. Going from really long hair to short hair can be a "big" change, and she reassured me that I was in good hands. She's super sweet and fun to talk to! I even booked a color appt with her (pictures to be posted soon). Overall great salon, and I will continue to come here :) read more

I worked with Madison and she was fantastic. I first went in to have a consultation with her, as I have very thick, naturally curly hair, and at the time had highlights and a cut that were all sorts of awful from a stylist at another salon. She took the time to listen to what was wrong, and what I was looking for, and talked through what we were going to do to fix it. I walked out of there feeling totally at ease and confident in her ability. The day of my actual appointment was great. Everyone is super friendly. The salon is on the smaller side, but still comfortable and cozy. They have plenty of magazines and beverages (including wine and beer!) to keep you occupied throughout your appointment. Madison took a few moments to once again talk through what I wanted, and sure enough, she did exactly that, and she did it with a smile. I definitely recommend this place, and will absolutely continue to go back. For those curly headed folks who struggle to find the right stylist who can manage their hair, Madison is your girl. Even if you don't have curly hair, Madison is still your girl. read more

This was my first time at this salon after a much needed haircut. I usually only have my hair cut when I am visiting family in Korea. Since Asian hair texture is different from other ethnic groups, I rarely got my hair cut outside of Korea or just Asian hair salons in general. This was due to several horrible experiences with Western salons (i.e. cut, color, dye, perm, treatment, etc.). I can confidently say goodbye to this old rule, because I have found people I can trust at a local salon! Thank you to the ladies at refleKTion for being kind, compassionate, sustainable, and masters in hair wizardary. I will be definitely be coming back! :) read more

I moved to Chicago a year ago, and I've been searching to find a hairstylist that I want to go to regularly. I finally found that in KT! The first thing she asked me in my consultation was to tell her about my best salon experience. This seems like something every stylist should ask! I told her about how I do my hair, showed her the look I was going for, and what guidance I needed to be able to do it on my own after getting it cut. KT was a super cool chick to talk to, which on its own makes me want to keep coming back. She cut my hair exactly how I wanted it done, and then as she blowed it out and styled it, she walked me through EXACTLY how to do it on my own at home with what tools and products to use! I told her how low maintenance I am with my hair, so she made it very simple and not too time consuming for me to actually keep up with it. Awesome experience. Thanks KT! read more

I just moved to the city a few months ago, and finding a new salon to have your hair done seems so daunting. I read lots of raving reviews of refleKTion so I decided to give it a try. Maria colored my hair and I couldn't be happier! I have been coming to RefleKTion Salon for several years now and they are the best. I originally began seeing the owner Katie and I still love to see her, but along the way I have seen several of their stylists like Maria, Roxie, Madison, Louis and more..... I have always been extremely happy w my hair. For me, it is clearly abt having my hair done and done well, but it's also abt keeping up w friends as I consider everyone there a friend. Highly recommend. They will do your hair how YOU want it, and if for some reason you don't love it, they will make it right. They are professional, caring, use environmentally friendly products, recycle whatever they can. I highly recommend a visit to my friends at RefleKTion Salon. read more

I've followed Luis around on his salon home journey and am so happy he has planted roots at RefleKTion Salon! (I would likely follow him to a hole in the wall too; that's just how amazing he is, so this is just a bonus!) The salon is next to so many cute shops and restaurants which I love because I like to treat myself all around when getting my hair done. The salon itself is intimate and cozy. During non covid times I imagine it's a super fun place for all the stylists and clients to have a conversation together. Now, they're doing a great job to ensure clients and staff stay safe and covid free. Front desk staff is knowledgeable and friendly. THE PRODUCTS! I've heard incredible things about Eufora and finally got to experience it for myself during my visit. High end, high quality, smells delicious! And of course my cut, color, and blowout from Luis was and always is top notch! His blowouts last days and I always get compliments from my coworkers. We changed up my cut and color placement this time and I couldn't be happier! He always knows what I need to feel fresh and new again. I can't say enough great things about Luis and RefleKTion Salon! read more

My experience here was not very good- my stylist let my color & highlights process too long as she was busy with another client inbetween. She did not check up on me and I was at the salon for 4 hours, spending a good 45 minutes with my head in the shampoo bowl as she was trying to scrub out her mistake (my neck was killing me the next day). I understand that this happens sometimes but I did was super unhappy with it and not apologized to. I'm usually super easy going and have never once complained about my hair. I am a new client and saw on the website they had 50% off first color and Walk In Wednesdays. At the end I was told that the 50% off color was not the case and (since it was Wedndedays) that only applied on "certain" Wednesdays. So confusing. Left in tears and will not be back, or recommend to anyone else. read more

My stylist of 5 years recently moved so I've been on a quest to find someone new. I'm looking for someone I can trust and feel a stylist/client connection. I was doing research online and stumbled upon refleKTion. I read the bios and was immediately drawn to Luis, so I scheduled an appointment for today. They have a great online scheduling option. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a very sweet receptionist who offered me tea (which was delish and served in an adorable mug). Luis did an awesome job with my cut. He is incredibly talented and loves what he does, all of which made for a great experience. I definitely found my new stylist!! I plan to try the owner for color. Salon called and cancelled my appointment because they didn't have time for a 15 minute hair consult. I just wanted a simple trim. Highly inconvenienced my day since I'm going back to the office tomorrow and don't have time to go in for another haircut. I told them they can skip the shampoo since my hair is freshly washed and they can just wet it to save time and they still wouldn't accept my appointment. I assumed the consultation was if you were to get your hair colored not a simple trim. There should be a disclaimer saying you must or we will cancel on your appointment. Honestly will never be booking with them again and I was excited to try out their business. Customer service lady didn't try to compromise at all when I suggested to not do the extras that come with the service. She insisted that they don't have 15 minutes for me even if I skipped that step and wouldn't even ask the stylist if that would be ok to save time.. . The hair consult would have taken 5 minutes to be honest since I just wanted a simple trim. Waste of my time and ruined my day.. read more
