She is very personable and easy to talk to. Her haircuts are excellent, and her personality makes you want to be one of her regulars. Made an appointment and my stylist NEVER SHOWED UP. I sat in the salon for 40 minutes waiting for Anthony, the owner tried contacting him and didn't get a response at all. Left 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment time because what???? The woman who was there was absolutely lovely and incredibly apologetic. I didn't get her name but she seemed very good at the fade she did while I waited. However, would absolutely not recommend making an appointment with Anthony, as he cannot be bothered to even show up. read more

SO glad I have found this place on yelp near my new apartment! As an Asian guy with nappy, thick, fast-growing hair, it is very hard to come by a place (barber or salon) that KNOWS not only how to style your hair, but also FIXES the damage that has been done from previous cuts. Yvette was able to understand my struggles with thick hair and knew what I wanted with a few pictures and what she recommends for my hair/face type. Later on, I found out she's a teacher and that's when you know they're legit and know what they are talking about. She was able to fix my cowlick after two cuts (the growing part was hard but it was all worthwhile). I can't wait to get the different kinds of salon grade treatments from Nick that can nourish thick and damaged hair to become smoother and healthier looking after a dye session. I will definitely be getting my hair bleached here as well when the time comes. I could not stop raving about Salon Salome to my friends and they all loved the place. Pricing is reasonable, if not a bargain because of their salon quality (less than the price I'd get at a barber for men's cuts AND they shampoo you). First off let me say I have gotten my hair cut there a few times... Really loved the atmosphere and the people... My Wife also goes there more regularly than I (fancy haircuts are mostly lost upon me.. generally I cut my own, My Wife however is prettier and fancier.. :)) That said, I am writing this review on behalf of my 1 year old... On Halloween the wife and I took her in their for her first haircut (she has a very good relationship with her stylist) Not only did my daughter get an adorable first haircut.. but she had a blast while doing it.. Best salon in Chicago - hands down. This place is so clean and comfy. They always have snacks, beverages, and good music, which makes a huge difference. The employees are always so welcoming and helpful. The hairstylist I see, Nick, is the only person who has cut my hair since I was 12 years old. I'm now 24 years old and still won't allow anyone else to touch my hair. My hair is really curly and he's a pro with curly hair (he also has curly hair). Prior to coming here I had never cut my hair nor done anything drastic to my appearance of any kind; so of course I was apprehensive and skeptical to even walk through the doors initially. It was something I had always wanted to do, but lacked the initiative to do so. Nick was my hairstylist and he was amazing. Didn't push me or rush me in anyway, but was empathetic. Of course it being such a huge ordeal for me, I arrived with my "crew" and he joked and bantered with them as well. End result: I couldn't be more pleased. I am so in love with this salon! I went in with a recommendation from a friend and was a bit hesitant at first. Genetically, I have less hair than everyone and they're very thin. I was worried that coloring it will make me look even balder even though it was time for a new change. However, when I went in, Yvette took her time to sit down and help me come up with a solution solely based on my situation. Her dedication to her customers are shown through her honesty, diligence and patience to make sure it is something that, not only do I want but also something that I need. she was working on my hair, she provided a lot of different helpful tips on how to maintain and strengthen it. I loved this so much about her. She was passing on the knowledge she had to someone who desperately needs it. My visits to other salons have never been so fruitful. After we finished, I was in awe by my new transformation. It wasn't just a new look; it was a confidence booster! I called and got a same day appt with Summer. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she gave me the exact color and style from the photo. I went from outdated foil highlights to a painted silvery light blonde with a bomb shadow root. She used olaplex to keep my hair from breaking. The price was super reasonable which was surprising due to how much time she spent with me. And Nick cogently explained how in fact with split ends like the mop before us had in abundance, this hair wasn't going to grow much more or very well. Even though it might be a little greasy, or have a huge dent in it from having it up all day, in my head, it looks awesome. Yvette has a new customer. Actually, she has two since my mother is the one who put her trust in her first, and her hair still looks good. The salon is very unassuming. It's larger than it appears from the outside, yet not too crowded on the side. Bonus, everyone there was really friendly, even the other clients. I hate to be a wet blanket here, and I was on the fence between 2 and 3 stars, but gave it 3 for the price I paid. The sole reason I wanted to try a new salon was based on price. I love my stylist, but as I'm growing out my hair, I don't think I needed a $60 haircut for a trim. I frequently walked by Salon Salome and saw a sign for a $32 haircut sign. I called and made an appointment and was told it was $60. huh...okay, maybe I had read the sign wrong? So I walked by the salon a different day and it was there. I called back before my appointment and was told the stylist I had set up my appointment with would honor the $32. GREAT! The customer service was a little iffy, and I guess I didn't tip enough for my stylist's needs because he didn't even look at me after I handed it to him. Conversation changed from dead silence, to talking about him him him, to smack talking his co-worker. uhm? He did give me some tips on managing an oily scalp, so that was nice. But he would not let up about me not liking dry shampoo. Sorry I'm not sorry. He also looked annoyed when I asked if he had a brush or something to take out the hair that had fallen all over my boots during the cut. To give my stylist credit, my hair looks cute. I did not have a traumatic experience with leaving my usual stylist to get my hair chopped off (guilty of this happening), and the cut I got is super easy to manage. Would I go back? I was recommended by a mutual friend of Laura P.'s and fell in love. the girls there love to laugh and joke around. I love the camaraderie of the salon. Its truly one of those little old lady gab shops with out the little old ladies. Granted some of the girls are getting there! Just kidding. I had Leticia and loved her.
