I absolutely LOVE this place. I have been going here since it opened and have NEVER been disappointed. I followed Kiona here from another salon because finding someone who cuts short curly hair is incredibly difficult to find. Both her and Bobbi always make sure that I am happy with my cut and always make great conversation. Super clean, modern and lovely facility. Love the entire team. It is extremely convenient for me to be able to book all of my appointments online since my schedule tends to be scattered. Both my husband and i get our hair done at Mitchell & Co and absolutely love it. We have both seen multiple people and everyone is WONDERFUL. Bobbi is literally the best person to get highlights from because she is so FAST! There is nothing worse than sitting in a chair all day and i'm so glad to be in and out in an hour. I picked to go to this Salon because it was just a short walk from my apartment. I went for the first time to get a cut and full highlight. I was able to get an appointment the same week I called and was greeted by a very welcoming front receptionist. During my first visit, I was scheduled with the owner Bobbi. She was so lovely, did a beautiful job, and gave me a welcome goody bag with sample products. About 2 wks after my visit, I was wanting just a little more blonde put in since more of my natural hair was showing than usual. I went on their website and sent a message explaining this. I got a call a few days later saying they would do this complimentary! I was blown away by this customer service and am so grateful they care about their clients so much. It has taken me so long to find a great salon again in Chicago and I finally found it thanks to a friend! The owners, Bobbi and Kiona, are fantastic and they both do a stellar job cutting and coloring hair. M&Co has a stylist for pretty much any type of hair. You will feel welcomed and at home the second you walk in the door thanks to their salon manager, Michelle. It has a small, neighborhood feel that is both trendy yet classic. They use high end products with a wide range of uses for all types of hair and hairstyles - R & Co. and Oribe are their staples. As a blonde it's difficult to find a stylist willing to take me as blonde as I want to go but Bobbi isn't scared. Still, she makes it beautiful and healthy; no bleached yellow blonde here! Kiona cuts my fiancé's hair and does a wonderful job of cutting short, trendy men's or women's cuts, as badass or classic as you want. They really pay attention to what you want both today and in the future. Bobbi has a great eye for understanding how your hair will grow out and has helped me achieve a great cut for the awkward in-between stage after cutting my hair incredibly short back in October. I stumbled across Mitchell & Co about a year ago and Bobbi has been highlighting and cutting my hair ever since. She's so talented and speedy! I'm usually in and out in 2 hours which NEVER happens and I leave feeling amazing. The color is always perfect and the cut is exactly what I had in mind even if I couldn't quite articulate what I was looking for. The salon itself is always clean and bright and the other stylists and assistants are friendly and professional. I'm getting married in October at 47 years old & want to start getting my skin in better shape. I purchased a Groupon for a chemical peel for what appeared to be Mitchell& Co (it wasn't), and there was quite a bit of confusion around that (for a variety of reasons) but Bobbie the owner was willing to provide the service for free, which I really appreciated. I had a chemical peel with Connie - my first. It was not uncomfortable at all, my skin looks fresher and feels smoother. I ended up booking another appointment with Connie based not only on my experience with her, but also in appreciation of how accommodating and understanding Bobbi was. I didn't get a true "before" pic but I'll start tracking how my skin improves. I purchased an under eye serum/dark spot corrector, which was a little pricey at $55 (To me. I don't spend a lot on cosmetics and such) but it's worth a try . Plus, I felt bad that they were put in that situation (yes, I tipped on the full cost of the peel, which was a reasonable $100.) Groupon acknowledged their responsibility in the confusion and is refunding my money. I would advise bringing a headband if getting a treatment on your face - I had some product in my hair that got in my eyes while I was driving. I lived and can still see, so no biggie. Long story short: great customer service will earn you repeat clients and garner good reviews on social media. read more

Who needed a haircut you might ask... My wife, daughter number one and son number one. After recently moving to the state of big hair and oil, Texas has proven difficult for my wife to find someone that knows how to do anything besides the typical big hair perm. My young daughter has been asking for months now to get her hair cut short. It was all the way down her back, but I would not let anyone cut it. I told her she has to wait until our trip to Chicago before she could get her hair cut. Walking into Mitchell & Co. I knew this was the place. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Now while my wife, son and daughter were getting their hair cut, I still had the two youngest to keep busy. Have you ever tried to keep a 2 and 4 year old occupied at a salon? Well I have, and it is usually not awesome. However, one of the staff members decided to bring out some practice mannequin heads with hair for the kids to play with. They helped the little ones with brushing the hair and pretending to be stylists. It made my job so much easier. My wife loves her hair, my son hasn't had this good of a haircut in years, and well, I want my little girl back. They did such a great job at cutting her hair. It looks great, but somehow she aged a few years in just a matter of minutes. I wouldn't put it back if I could because I know there isn't anyone else I would have let cut her hair. My wife had coloring and a cut and they did a great job. My wife is so happy with everything and how we were all treated that we would never go anywhere else to get our hair cut. All we have to do now is fly to Chicago every month for appointments, oh and pizza, and Italian beef. read more

It's so refreshing to be able to write a 5 Star review for a change. :) I had the privilege of going to this salon this past week. I entered with my entire family in tow, frazzled over-processed tips, bad cuts, and long locks in need of a cut. I, frazzled, over-processed tips had Kiona as my stylist. She was super sweet, and knowledgeable. She discussed what she thought had happened to my hair, and together we came up with a plan to fix it. She gave me a great color, a fabulous mask to repair my hair and trimmed the ends leaving me with a wonderful new style and color. My hair is shiny and silky smooth. For my daughter, she gave her her first major cut, and my daughter is thrilled to say the least! My son now looks like a rockstar (his little sister's words) and he even got some great product to help him style his hair. He has two cowlicks that are rich to deal but Kiona again did a fabulous job! No lines, no flips, no stragglers or strays. The entire staff was sweet, and were adoringly attentive to me and the kiddos- not something you see everyday in a salon. Would highly recommend to any of my friends or family. I went for a full facial (90mins) and Brazilian waxing yesterday for the first time. Connie was amazing. She was professional and extremely thoughtful. And the moment I stepped in the spa studio I just felt relaxed and cozy... I almost fell asleep during the waxing (I know, that sounds crazy but it was that comfortable!) All of the staff members are welcoming and kind whether you are waiting for your appointment or getting your hair washed. I have been going Bobbi, one of the salon owners and stylist, for a few years and she has never let me down. In fact, I always love my hair after leaving the salon. She does a brilliant job on coloring my hair (I go from medium brown to a medium coppery red). I got my hair cut hereand had a mediocre experience. I have straight hair, so it's not a difficult hair cut. I was taken back for a shampoo close to my appointment time, but had to wait 30mins before my actually cut after the shampoo. I walked away with a mediocre haircut at best. I asked for long layers, but I have a very blunt cut. Zero layers. If think for $65 I'd have an awesome cut. Unfortunately $65 got me a very basic single layer trim with ZERO layering. I would never recommend this salon. It was a good environment, but I feel robbed based on the terrible service. read more

I have been going to Pamela for my hair since I moved downtown in 2014 (when the salon was Avieve Salon). The new owners of Mitchell & Co., Bobbi and Kiona, are very nice, and this continues to be a great salon. Pamela is by far the best hair stylist & colorist that I have ever been to, and I am extremely picky. When I first moved downtown from the suburbs, I would make the hour trek back to the suburbs every time I needed to go to the salon, because I was afraid to try anyone new. I found Pamela just by sheer luck, and she did such a fantastic job that I never went back to my salon in the suburbs. Pamela does amazing color, and my highlights always look so natural and so beautiful. I get compliments all the time on my hair. Disappointing customer service. My husband and I have come here for the past 3 years to see our favorite stylist who we absolutely LOVED - so very talented with all kinds of cut and color, very knowledgeable about products, and such a wonderful person as well. She was due to move out of state, so we booked an appointment with her on her last day for one more excellent haircut and a chance to say goodbye. I was going to get her recommendation for another stylist to try at the salon as well, because many of them seem excellent. Unfortunately, the salon neglected to tell us that they actually fired our favorite stylist just days before she was due to leave the salon. Really shocked that they didn't even inform their customers who had bookings or try to re-schedule us with someone else. My customer experience until this point was great and I highly recommended this salon all the time. However, now it seems that customer communication and transparency are clearly lacking. read more
