I want to like Red's Table..I really do! However, the food is just not that good. Been there twice, appetizers are ok, wings were dry, cheese plate was good. Second visit last night..service was ok, manager checked on us and he was pleasant. Ordered a salad with shrimp..salad was fresh but had no taste and shrimp was freezer burnt. My friend and I were hoping for dessert but after we finished our salads and wine the waiter put our check down and never offered coffee or dessert, we thought it was not an option (on the way out we asked the hostess if they served dessert and they do!) I must be ordering the wrong items because many reviews contradict my experience. The restaurant sits in a great location but the food is not worth the high prices. read more

Had high hopes heading into RT for a birthday dinner and left feeling like I probably wouldn't go back...ordered the fried chicken as it was highly recommended by our waitress. We enjoyed some pretty good calamari while waiting for entrees but for me that was the end of the good eats. Fried chicken arrived looking like no fried bird I've ever seen...it actually looked cool! Dove into the thigh and found cold meat in the center. Cooked through but cold in the center? Had it been frozen and partially warmed? Moved to the leg which was thick. As I pulled meat from the bone I saw that this piece was not cooked enough and was raw at the bone. Not edible. Coincidentally, the manager stopped by as I was fumbling through and asked how great everything was...I told her my chicken thigh was cold in the middle and the leg was undercooked and she explained to me that it was cooked "sous vide"?? I politely explained that I couldn't eat uncooked chicken and she offered a replacement. Colonel Sanders & Popeye have been making fried chicken for decades and I doubt they ever even experimented cooking it "sous vide", but I'm not a chef so what do I know. I chose to order a burger and while it arrived quickly with hot fries, the pattie was crunchy burnt on one side...:( I ate half the burger, so as not to spoil the birthday dinner, and some fries and called it a night. In fairness, everyone else in our party ate their food and the waitress was nice. One final note: this is not a place for a relaxing dinner as it is loud even though the place was not completely full (Tues night). Lovely atmosphere, great food, courteous service. They have a business lunch price fixed option for app plus entree which looks like a great deal. Red's is a nice place to spend a leisurely lunch with colleagues or friends, particularly on the patio on a nice weather day. read more

We enjoyed our Saturday dinner on porch overlooking the small lake. Inside is noisier and looks more like a sports bar. Staff was very attentive. While the menu is somewhat limited, the selections we ordered were quite tasty and not your run of the mill dishes. read more

Food & ambience was great but cannot give 5 stars since business lunch that we even prebooked a day earlier, for 7 people, took literally an hour to get to our table. We arrived at 11:35 am and they open at 11. Needless to say we didn't get much work done at the office after the 1.5 hours+ it took us to wait and then wolf down our food since we had to get back to a meeting. Appetizers took about 20 min to arrive. No idea why the rest took so long. We ordered straight burgers and sandwiches. The place was busy but not that busy! I felt that since they had a note on the menu that parties of 6 or more have a 20% gratuity automatically added, that we were therefore a low priority. I would like to give 3 stars or even 2 because of this, but the food was really good. We had 1 order that was delivered with fries instead of onion rings, but at that point after 1 hour we were not about to mention it. I had to get up to go and ask where in the world the food was, but as I was going to do it the waitress had some of our plates in her hands. BTW, we asked ahead if one person in our party could bring their kosher meal but were told it was a health violation. The receptionist offered that I could email the owner and they explain to me how they could do it. I didn't because our person decided not to come after all. Not sure how that would really work unless owner was going to actually get the food from a kosher kitchen... just FYI. read more

Well, the previous reviews complaining about a lack of salt are moot. Not very impressed. Pre meal biscuits were good, but only provided us with two small biscuits. Wine pour on small side. Started with a cup of the mushroom bisque and it was more of a broth consistency than a bisque - no real taste of mushrooms and very very salty. Main dish was the Pork Sugo, which is rigatoni with a braised pork ragu. It was obvious that the pasta was precooked and the heated ragu was dumped over it to warm the pasta up. Trouble is, the pasta was undercooked, not al dente, but actually crunchy. And a good bit of the pasta was cold. Pork ragu was more of a BBQ pulled pork with a sweet BBQ sauce and again, really salty. Wife had the crab cakes which she said were ok. Crab cakes came with popcorn on the dish. Seemed more like a gimmick than anything else. We also had a side of the smashed cauliflower, which was ok. We decided to bail on dessert. Dinner for two with two glasses of wine, one cup of soup, two entrees, and a side was over $80. Services was good, our waitress was very nice. Don't really see a reason to return. Too many other good restaurants around for half the price. read more

He was very personable, made great drinks and was very knowledgeable about the menu. We had the steamed shrimp, burger, fries, onion rings and beet salad. Everything was delicious. Worst food I have ever tasted, we almost left the restaurant. Atmosphere is nice with view of Lake and nice bar. Ordered shrimp over salad, which came with soggy lettuce and the whole shrimp with heads. When you pulled the heads off, it was soft and mushy. Other seafood dish was questionable. Enjoyed a really fine meal there last Saturday evening with friends. We shared appetizers from the delicious chicken liver mousse (could have eaten the whole portion myself!!) to the calamari and also some tasty, hot Rhode Island style clam chowder. We then tried the gem lettuce salad which was a great alternative to caesar salad, and the wedge salad with an interesting spin on the blue cheese dressing that is made with yogurt. Moving on to entrees, we enjoyed everything from a juicy, perfectly cooked steak to my fav dish, the savory Bucatini. Hats off to the Chef, who is creating wonderful dishes, all while supporting Reston Farmer's Market-sourced ingredients, farm to table. No processed food here. Topped the night off with fabulous seasonal desserts of in-house baked items. Yep, they have their own pastry Chef on board. The appetizers were a huge miss.The tuna tartare was bland and the gazpacho looked and tasted more like a flavorless smoothie that was melting in the sun. The burger and fries were good but not great. To top it off the manager came over to check on us after hearing we didn't like the gazpacho. Although apologetic and polite, he felt the need to explain how a gazpacho is served as if we've never had one. I logged in to Yelp (which I haven't done in forever) specifically to write this review. I went to Red's Table today at 2pm with a former coworker. We sat outside and the view was wonderful. Our server, Robin, was exceptional and the food was amazing. I got a burger and a side salad. When Robin came back to check on us, I told her that the side salad's dressing was likely the most amazing dressing I've had in a long time. She returned a few minutes later with a small plastic container filled with the dressing so I could take it home. That's the kind of service this restaurant has. I really like the new look and concept. It overlooks the lake which is pretty; however, parking in this shopping center is always a bit of a challenge. With that said, I really enjoyed the beet salad and the crap cake sandwich and fries were delicious but it could have used more crab. The crab to bread ratio was a bit off. My co-worker ordered the dry aged burger and the patty was small and a bit overcooked. Overall, I would recommend this place. read more

I really wanted to love Red's Table since it's located close to my home and situated on the lake in a beautiful setting. I do love the design and atmosphere, which are definitely a huge improvement over the previous restaurant. However, the food was mediocre at best and everything was extremely overpriced, including the bar. I don't mind paying that much if everything is wonderful, but the food didn't even come close. The waiter also seemed disinterested, although not inattentive. I will likely give them one more chance to wow me and I hope they do. read more

I love Red's Table and go there any time I'm meeting up with a friend! It's a little pricey for regular lunches during the work day or for taking the family, but it's not too pricey for a MNO or meeting up with a friend from out of town. I love that the menu changes seasonally and the craft cocktails I've tried have all been good. The goat cheese fritters are my absolutely favorite, I also enjoy the crab cake sandwich and the mushroom soup. Their brunch has nice choices too. It's an on trend atmosphere with a stunning view of the lake, you forget you're in a strip mall. I believe it is hands down the best non-chain restaurant anywhere in the area, and being a locally owned, non chain is another reason to love it! read more

I've been here more than a handful of times. The staff are great! I want this joint to be what it can be. But the menu is not good. I've had the chefs catch 3 times with a romesco. Twice it was good but tonight it was replaced with a weird peanut flavored something that wasn't a romesco at all. Sent it back for a lemon broiled skate and got a lemon and ammonia blast. Just bad fish. The chicken we ordered was cooked well but paired with a maple flavored creamed spinach. Not a good flavor profile. And the blistered broccoli was deep fried and saturated with oil. If you want beers, great. But if you want good food and value for your $$, just meh for the amount of money ... read more

Just had a delicious brunch at Red's Table. I had the frittata (which was advertised as having potatoes, but also had sweet potatoes...very fall-like and delicious). The frittata was topped with excellent hollandaise (although more would have been nice), the coffee was delicious, and the maple sausage was a great side. The outdoor seating features heaters...such a unique idea. The service was attentive, but not too overbearing. Because there are so many chains/franchises in Reston, I'm so glad Red's now exists. We were sad to see Lakeside Inn close, but Red's Table was well worth the wait and is an outstanding successor. This neighborhood gem rivals anything in Reston Town Center in my opinion. This was our first visit, but we will be returning - frequently. We enjoyed perfectly shucked Bluepoint oysters, delicious mussels, king crab and a very beautiful and tasty beet salad - washed down with a delicious Sancerre (at 20% off being a Monday). Bonus! The wait staff are terrific - extremely warm/friendly and knowledgeable. Can't wait to try more items on their regional menu. Loved the fresh baked bread (a little too much!!). Had a great meal - shared the oysters, crudo, and charcuterie with a friend. The crudo was my favorite, salty and delicious. As a resident of south reston and a long time patron of lakeside inn, I was so looking forward to Reds Table. Local guys, local food, what's not to like? Well, turns out, most things. I've been there three times, once for dinner, twice for happy hour. The noise level was out of control at dinner, so loud we had to shout, measured at 98 decibels! The chicken and dumplings (spatzel) was the best of the lot. At happy hour I got a good, local beer and a tiny burger on a huge bun. Turns out the half price burger is half sized! Shame on you. No fries, huge bun, slider sized burger. The chicken wings were supposed to be buffalo but they were naked, ok flavor. I had to get my own condiments and silver from the kitchen, staff was nowhere to be seen. Third time we sent back the pumpkin mornay, uncooked egg, disgusting and the turkey wings were burnt, clam hush puppies were black. Turns out that's how their supposed to look although the server told us most orders were sent back! Seriously, food shouldn't have to come out with disclaimers! So, like I said, I want to like it, reston is so full of chains I wanted a nice one-on family owned business, but I don't know if I can give it another shot. As a friend said, I'll go there for a beer and some fries, I was hoping for a lot more than that! read more

I've been to Red's Table several times and have yet to leave disappointed. First of all, you can't beat the fantastic view on Lake Thoreau, and I love that the outdoor area is heated so you can sit there year round. It has a fun atmosphere at happy hour, and the staff has always been warm, welcoming, and attentive every time I've been there. Their menu tends to rotate which some people might find frustrating, but I appreciate that as a new restaurant they've swapped out items that aren't necessarily working and are also utilizing fresh, local, in-season ingredients to create their menu! Highly recommend the calamari appetizer and you can't beat the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich at brunch. read more

Went here for dinner it ended up being restaurant week so we obviously we're excited and took advantage of that...wish we had not. For appetizers we ordered calamari which was soggy and not very good at all. There were fried pieces of sausage and this smoky tomato sauce that were both unpleasant. We also ordered the pate and two cheeses. The pate was a good portion but the cheeses were small slices the size of about one bite for $5 each. Then came the entree I ordered the pork shoulder with parsnip purée. The whole dish was watery the pork and parsnips did not go well together. The pork was marinated in a tomato and vinegar sauce and the parsnips tasted like they were in a sweet coconut broth then topped with a slaw... I did not even want to take home leftovers. My boyfriend ordered the shrimp po boy which was ok, not worth $17. Then for dessert I ordered the honey lemon cake and it was awful the only good part were the pistachios. The "cake" was soggy and looked like a squishy hamburger bun and the lemon ricotta filling was not creamy but instead hard balls of filling that did not have much flavor. My boyfriend ordered the cookies and cocoa, he drank the cocoa... Will not go back. This is the second time I have tried this place and have not been impressed and it is expensive. A lot of better restaurants in the Reston area that are worth the money. read more

Solid food and cocktails. Oysters were very fresh. Main courses were the right size and well prepared. Dessert was worth it! We came during restaurant week and that was a steal. Service is slower than other places around here, but correctly so. It's not that they aren't paying attention, it's that it's a no rush atmosphere, which I appreciate. No one hovered over us trying to turn the table. Service was very friendly, although now I see that others raved about the corn bread and we didn't get that at our table.
