We ate there and it was very clean but the dining area is pretty limited. We noticed though there were A LOT of takeout orders. We were supposed to meet friends at Millhouse Deli for pizza, but Millhouse was closed for no apparent reason, so we headed for Ultimate Pizza Co. Sorry, UPCo, but you just didn't send me this time. For one thing, the pizza wasn't as good as the last time we visited. For another, the live entertainment was bizarre. The first act was a guy who looked like one of the cartoon characters from Gorillaz, playing what sounded like background music from 1970s cop/detective shows on an electronic keyboard (it was actually better than I've made it sound). Next up was a DJ who seemed popular with the prison-ink crowd, playing mostly what sounded like gay bathhouse techno (though to be fair, all techno music sounds like gay bathhouse techno to my untrained ear). And then there was this conversation in the car after we left..... WHAT SHE SAID: "Did you notice the outfit our waitress was wearing?" I've had maybe hundreds of pizzas from Reddings Ultimate over the years. I've always been a fan but have visited less frequently over the past couple years because I moved across town and it's less convenient. Last week I had a baby and had a postpartum craving for pizza during my stay at the hospital. I had my husband pick up a half sergeant pepper and half combo. Now it could have been that hospital food was losing is spark or maybe that the night before was spent pushing a basketball through a paper towel roll, but it was amazing. I have always enjoyed their sourdough crust, but it was fuller, crispier and more flavorful than ever! The sauce on the lonely artichoke was delicious. We had no choice but to eat the whole pizza since postpartum rooms at mercy don't have mini fridges, no complaints. I'll gladly drive the extra 10 minutes next time I need a pizza. read more

I moved from the LA area, and of course, needed to find a good pizza place as we were unpacking. Luckily Ultimate Pizza was the closet to my house, and it turned out to be some of the best pizza I have ever eaten (and I've eaten a lot!) The crust is absolutely amazing ... the sauce isn't sweet like so many pizza places. The toppings are very fresh tasting, and overall the pizza you get delivered to your table is beautifully put together. Not soggy, not too thick and not too thin! Just perfect. The place is ecclectic and the staff is just awesome. Overall, I would eat here ever other day if I could, and we at least eat here once a week. First off I would like to say the pizza was pretty good, and the crust was GOOD!! We ordered a combo w/ light on the sauce and ended up picking off the "sausage" or whatever it was supposed to be. The workers left a lot to be desired, two of the girls were wearing extremely short shorts, and really had no business wearing them, even outside to a picnic or the park, if you get my drift. YUCK! They were pretty busy, but they sure didn't have a clue. Phones ringing off the hook, delivery people calling lost, looking for an unknown street and/or number. My order wasn't ready when I got there, and they said it would be out of the oven in three minutes. 25 minutes later I'm asking if the pizza is ready and they give me a blank look, and say "She can ring you up....." Well, I had already paid. Finally I got the pizza, and it was all my fault that it had taken so long, you know, because they had written the incorrect name on the tag. The place is adorned with crystals and framed vinyl records proudly displaying the owners perchance for revolutionary rock n' roll. The pizza also reflects this ethos with pies named after psychedelic rock albums such as "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Artichoke Heart Pizza" (my personal favorite). Sometimes if I really want to treat myself, I'll order off their secret menu requesting red sauce instead of white. I first stumbled into this restaurant one fateful rainy day nearly a decade ago. I was famished after a long hike below the Igo Bridge and upon requesting to watch my favorite team on their Tee Vee, I couldn't help but notice the kind-eyed handsome young man diligently typing away on his word processor at the corner table (the only other person in the dining area on this bucolic day). The young man was a poet and proceeded to read me some of his deep and intriguing naturalist prose. The poems were written from the perspective as if Walt Whitman and Jim Morrison made a love child! When I went to leave, he sincerely thanked me for my patronage and it was only then that I realized I'd been talking to the owner. (He was using his lunch break to work on his new collection.) Later I ran into the man on a trail around Whiskeytown and he recognized me right away. We stopped to chat and he introduced me to his two beautiful husky dogs (one of which he named Ishi, in honor of the great Yahi man and historical epoch). I thanked him again for the poetry reading and the nourishing pizza (their handmade sourdough crust I now crave nearly once a week). Ultimate Pizza is definitely a takeout sort of pizza shop; location is small, kind of dingy, and it is situated in a gas station center. However, this didn't bother me since I was only there to take advantage of their ongoing deal of buy one large or XL pizza and get one of equal size for free. My family ordered a large Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Artichoke Hearts Gourmet Veggie which came with creamy white sauce but I substituted for red, Italian squash, onions, mushrooms, and fresh tomatoes (I also got it w/ extra sauce and garlic) and a large of their Ultimate Pizza which came with pepperoni, salami, Canadian bacon, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, olives, sausage, and fresh tomatoes. Each pizza had a good amount of toppings (even though the Artichoke one didn't have as many artichokes as I would have liked) and they had a nice sprinkling of herbs on their cheese. The pizzas had a thick dough and a nice and thick crust with a crisp outside and a deliciously fluffy inside. Extra garlic and sauce is free which is always a plus. The tastiness and freshness of their pizza certainly earned it four stars in my opinion, but my dad and brother said that they would give it a three since they didn't believe the pizza was anything special. The only beef I have that would keep me from going back to this place are the prices. There is a recent buy one, get one deal, but a large at Ultimate is only a 14" and their XL is a 16". Without the deal, larges range at $20 and the XL range around $22-25. The pizza is great but not great enough for me to dish out on those prices. Our family is large and I guess we're just spoiled by Costco's $10 18" pizza. read more

The salad was fine but also obviously thrown together with other pizza ingredients. The chicken strips were fine but super doughy. The pizza was also super doughy.
