Provolone appetizer was good, needs a little more bread with how much cheesy goodness is there. A little disappointed after the reviews were so good. Fried chicken sandwich was an actual big piece of chicken(good) with a nice batter like on fried fish (and not greasy) but needs more flavorful sauces etc. I added some pickles to help. Btw, does anyone really WANT shoe string fries? I don't personally know anyone who does and that's what they have. Table was super wobbly so my wife was mopping up water all the time. Service was friendly but a little thin Turkey bacon pita is a pass...one thin slice of turkey and pita that was burnt on one side, not toasted on the other. I admit a bias since they have Pepsi instead of Coke products. read more

THE MUSSELS! If you like mussels, GET THE MUSSELS! I love this place. It has a nice ambiance that would fit for if you want to dress nicely, or go there with a T-shirt on. The songs on the radio was a great choice of some classic Rock n' Roll. Out server was absolutely amazing. They were super sweet and gave us great recommendations on what to eat. Again, the mussels were out of this world and I tried some of my mom's salmon and that was great too! I got the peanut butter and chocolate pie, which was good but not a show stopper like the mussels. I had an amazing experience and I highly recommend anyone coming here! It is so worth it! read more

I came in late - about 30 minutes before closing. U know that is frowned upon, but I made sure I was here for drinking. I have to say the bartender made an AMAZINGGGGG lemon drop cocktail. This is a very cute place. Employees are sweet and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place!! read more

Red On Main - a martini with a lemon wedge - Bars Near Me - Madison, Indiana

Wow! Red on Main really surprised us. My sister and I dined here and each had a non- alcoholic beverage and salad. Both were sublime. The lavender lemonade was so refreshing and delicious (full disclosure: we had them add simple syrup to make it sweeter). The salads were exceptional - Kentucky bibb with chicken for me and Baby Iceberg wedge for her. The veggies were unbelievably fresh and so flavorful. I've never commented on the greens in my salad before but these were just so good. The dressings (house-made ranch and honey Dijon) were superb. Everything, including the rolls and butter, was outstanding. If I lived here, I'd want to eat here every day. read more

If you've never been to Madison, this is an awesome town to visit! Adorable stores, amazing hiking over at Clifty Falls, and of course wonderful restaurants. I had the chicken florentine and my friends had shrimp and grits and the salmon bowl. All were delicious! I recommend sitting in the back of the restaurant. read more

Service was great, food was really great. Highly recommend to anybody passing through here.

Barbecue shrimp was authentic New Orleans to start and then everything else was fantastic.

Restaurant was almost full but got a table right away. Warm bread and herb butter to start. Ordered the filet mignon with the herb butter and it came with crispy brussel sprouts and crispy potatoes and they were so good. The passion fruit margarita was delicious and refreshing. The waitress was nice. Will be back! read more

We had a great experience at Red on Main. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We were greeted with fresh bread and soft butter. It was better than your standard bread basket and we were offered more. The bacon wrapped dates were a special appetizer for the evening, and I'm so glad we got them. They were spectacular and alone worth the trip to Red on Main. My husband got the ribeye and I, the shrimp & grits. We were both very satisfied. I would recommend Red on Main. Fine dining atmosphere & menu but casual attire (i.e. Jeans) was perfectly acceptable and seemed to be the norm. read more

My sister suggested Red on Main to kick off our weekend trip to Madison. We arrived between lunch and dinner, at 3:30 and weren't sure they were serving despite being able to physically get in. The hostess told us they served appetizers, drinks and half salads between lunch and dinner and the staff would have their team meeting to discuss the menu, but it wasn't an issue. I was super hungry, having skipped lunch to drive so we agreed to stay with reassurance that it wouldn't be weird for us to be there. It was only us. It wasn't. The staff at Red made us feel so welcome and were incredibly nice. Our server was amazing-she took care of us, tended/prepped the bar and went to the staff meeting. She was attentive answered questions or got answers (we overheard her ask at the staff meeting!), and was friendly as can be. I was initially disappointed with only appetizers and half salads until our food arrived. I got the house, my sister got the caesar. If these are half size the full is a trough! My greens were fresh, the vinegarette dressing coated the leaves just right and the croutons homemade. We did order the goat chesse free charcuterie and cheese board, which was fairly basic but what we wanted; it had fresh mozarella, a carmelized onion cheese and sage cheddar with a salami, mortadella (I think) and prosciutto. I wish it had more accouterments, it had one tiny pickle and a spattering of dried fruit. We also shared the cajun BBQ shrimp, a seasoned scampi with bread rounds. My sister commented it wasn't what she thought it would be but it was exactly as described on the menu. Poached in butter with spices. Despite that, I caught her dipping some of the charcuterie plate items in the shrimp dish. Each of us also had a refreshing summer drink, a black raspberry daiquiri for me a mango concoction for her to kick off our sister's weekend. Red on Main is one of the more upscale places in Madison but we found the prices reasonable for the food quality. It would be a great place to unwind after a day of puttering around downtown. read more

While on a recent road trip, we stopped for lunch at Red On Main. Our friendly server did an excellent job, and the chef's special Arancino with grilled shrimp was my wife's favorite dish of our two-week trip. Shout out to the bartender, for delicious, true craft cocktails, as well. We will definitely return for great food, drinks, and service next time we're in Madison. read more

We really liked the environment. It is a lot bigger than it looks. The service was great and so was the food. Drinks alittle pricey but really good. Bartender was great. read more

This has to be the Friday night spot! This place was poppin' (within covid regulations I did notice too). When we walked in a was glad we were able to be seated without a potential wait. Service was pretty good, could use a little better time management as we ordered drinks and appetizers and our appetizer came out before the drinks. I am a garlic fanatic. When a recipe calls for 3 cloves, I usually am using the entire head of garlic. I'm one of those and I know there are more of you with me! With that, I had to try the roasted garlic & toasts. It was an entire head of garlic roasted and served so we could scoop it out and put on toasts! Yum! Recommend a thousands times! They also had a special on pork rinds. They came out popping and crispy. I'm not a huge pork rinds person but they intrigued me. It was a nice appetizer addition. I ordered the black & blue salad. It comes with thin sliced seasoned beef on a salad covered in blue cheese. Being from buffalo I am all about blue cheese- the more stanky the better. Be warned this blue is stanky. If you're not a huge fan- opt for another dish! Jambalaya pasta was also a hit! Chicken & andouille sausage give that creole flavor over fettuccine. Service was a but slow, which could be due to most all the tables being full but I have to assume they would be more crowded in a pre or post covid world so that's not an excuse. All around a nice place to stop in for a bit fancier dinner than burgers at the pub. read more

We really enjoyed ourselves. The food and service was good. We ate at the bar. Would recommend!

I paid $45 for a medium ribeye that was served rare/medium rare, and after sending back it came back quickly, but was still under at medium rare. Sides were good, but were not replaced with fresh when my dish came back, which should be a standard best practice, especially when your bill is $200 for 4 to dine. read more

Food - excellent preparation and presentation, interesting variety of choices. Service - more than adequate, always friendly, but not elegant. Ambiance - nice decor, a bit crowded. Feels special but not luxurious. read more

Wife and I stopped in on weekday evening. My wife had the salmon and I the filet mignon. Served with the filet were crispy Brussel sprouts which were so delicious and oven roasted potatoes which were over cooked. The filet came out med rare just how I ordered it and was very tender and juicy. My wife's salmon was tender and very flavorful her oven roasted potatoes were also over cooked. But all said this place is Wonderfull but bring a fat wallet cause it ain't cheap. Paid $85 plus's tip. Worth it in my opinion. read more

Yummy dinner in downtown Madison. After walking down the streets of downtown Madison, this is the best ending to the day. We had the signature cocktail special and the charcuterie board. Incredible! The food came out quickly and is something you would expect in a high end restaurant in a big city. The best part, the service. Every single employee thanked us for coming in. It was so nice. I will go back to try out new dishes. read more

This popped up as one of the best places in Madison, Indiana. We both had pasta-- partner had chicken creole pasta, and I had the chicken Florentine. Both were good but mine was best. The cinnamon tequila sour left me wondering why this isn't a drink every where. Service was impeccable and the bartender was gifted. Loved it! read more

Had dinner here with my sister in law for the first time . The place is very casual and is right on Main Street in Madison. We were not very hungry so decided to spit an order of the pork medallions. When they brought it to the table it was all on one plate and we had to divide it up our selves but we were charged an extra four dollars because it was a split order. I had never heard of being charged extra for a split order and when I asked our waiter what the four dollars was for since they didn't do anything extra. He couldn't answer it . He didn't know . So be aware if you want to split an order . The food was ok . Pork was alittle dry read more

Almost didn't dine here from lack of reviews, but VERY GLAD we did as the dining experience was excellent! Nice atmosphere (we set in the back by the bar area, soft music, proper table service), very friendly and well-trained staff (from the hostess to our server, Zaynah), well-crafted drinks (I had a Manhattan, my date had the Mule - both perfectly hitting the spot on a hot Saturday night), and our food was perfectly prepared. I had the Jumbalaya, and after Zaynah described the dish, I asked if the Chef could add some "heat" to it. Perfection! My date had the seared tuna steak with a wasabi glaze, and steamed veggies & rice. Not being anywhere near the coast, I had my doubts about her dish, but the tuna was perfectly seared, medium rare, good flavor, and the veggies were not over-cooked. Again, another excellent dish! Only opportunity for improvement... We liked sitting in the back bar area, but the wooden barstool seating got a little uncomfortable by dinner's end, and we had to ask for bread (not sure if it was just forgotten or if it's just not automatic here). That said, considering how new this restaurant is, and especially after the recent statewide shut down had them out of commission, our experience at Red on Main was a pleasant surprise. If you're looking for a proper dinner and drinks when in Madison, Indiana, check out Red on Main! read more

Friendly staff & nice atmosphere. We were seated in the bar area - the stools are small and not at all comfortable. I think the restaurant would greatly benefit in getting new seating for that area. The staff was friendly and prompt with service. The food was tasty & unique. Unfortunately, our main entrees were cold by the time they were served to us. But other than that, the food was good & had great presentation. read more

Y'all - I raved about the BUTTER!! Perfect, simply and well balanced seasoning in not only the butter (if Salt Fat Acid Heat had a butter baby - this would be it. ) but also the best spinach Florentine of my life - hubs had filet and we both had half Caesar salads. It did not go unnoticed that salt and pepper are not on the tables - smart move, don't ruin the genius (if you really still need it, they will provide.) Too many folks automatically season before tasting. Oh - and very reasonable cost for quality. Bonus - great background music. Service was great too! read more

Went to Red on Main on a weekend. Had the shashito stack appetizer which was very good and the Madison Mule, also very good. We then ordered the special, quarter rack of ribs and the Pollo Argentina. What a rushed experience. We went for our anniversary while in town at Clifty Falls, and although I loved the food, our dining experience could have been better. We were in and out in an hour, felt like we didn't have adequate time to even look at the drink menu before our server wanted our orders, and I ordered the Wednesday dinner special (Dijon pork + baked potato) and the pork was RAW when I cut a piece off. I couldn't believe it. To make matters worse, our server said, "do you want us to throw this back on the grill, or do you want us to make a new one?" I was baffled. Of course I wanted a new one! Instead, I got my same one back without the large piece I cut off. My husband had the jambalaya and that was great, and once my pork was cooked it was great too. While I was eating, she took away my half-eaten loaded baked potato that I was STILL eating. We felt so rushed. I will say the food we did have was so great, but I can't believe the situation surrounding the raw pork. read more

My husband & I had lunch on a Friday there. We had great service & the food was really good.

The latest addition to the Red family in Madison is a little more upscale than the other Red restaurants. The menu is pretty small but everything looked good. I went there twice on my visit to Madison. First I had the portobello mushroom salad and it was excellent. The second time I had the fish and chips. The fish was perfectly cooked and served on a mountain of thin cut fries. I would like to come back on my next trip to Madison and try more of the menu. read more
