We made the one hour trip to Miller's for lunch (we're retired). Friends we often go out with had read about Miller's and wanted to give them a try. Featured in the article was Miller's tenderloins. I say tenderloins plural, because they have 2 sizes. What they call a regular and a large tenderloin. Our friend ordered the large tenderloin $14.99. It comes a la carte BUT, the Tenderloin was huge. Now I bet some of you are thinking it couldn't be that big! Well I ordered the regular Tenderloin ($10.99) and it was enough for two people. The large was easily 3 times, if not more, than the size of mine. Our friend guessed the weight of the large one at 3 pounds or more. Additinally, the tenderloins are not paper thin. They are quite thick and meaty. Both wives got the whitefish sandwiches. We all had one common complaint. The batter on both the Tenderloin and fish were tasty, but too salty for our liking. I should mention we ordered fried green tomatoes and fried mushrooms for appetizers. We all really enjoyed both. Eventhough this establishment is a Tavern, they only have like four draft beer taps. However, they offer a nice list of bottles and cans, with some craft beers. They have an open flame grill for burgers and steaks which makes for a pretty good aroma inside if your a carnivore. North Vernon, Indiana! What a great little historic town, it's no wonder why my grandparents farmed there over 68 years ago. Miller's remains part of that history and tradition. We were in search of my Childhood breaded pork tenderloin from Illinois and got wind of Miller's Indiana Monster. It wasn't my childhood favorite but it was definitely good and exceptionally cooked. The new owners are making some wonderful updates while remaining historical. Service, food, and location were excellent! read more

We were disappointed in our meal 6/9/26. We had been before and loved it, but this time, my tenderloin was left in fryer tooo long, so it wasn't tender and my husband's taco salad was average. They never once came back and checked on drinks. We also had fried green tomatoes, which were very average. I guess I thought they would be fresh not frozen. It seemed the staff was more interested in their conversations than the guests and it wasn't even busy. We got there at 5, and maybe 4 other people were there. Won't be back for awhile. If you find yourself in North Vernon, you must stop by Miller's Tavern and try the Breaded Tenderloin! The sandwiches are delicious. The pub has been in business since 1939 - a muir 85 years! The historic building is interesting with tin ceilings and a small town vibe. The dining area is filled with a combination of booths, a few tables and bar seating. The staff is attentive and professional. Kaylee, our server, checked on us regularly and kept our water glasses full. The menu offers a mix of sandwiches, salads and lots of appetizers. My husband had the regular (small) Breaded Tenderloin, which was huge. The pork was tender and juicy. He ranked his sandwich among the best in Indiana. The crinkle cut fries were just ok. I had the Taco Salad, which was the daily special. The salad came covered with a half pound of seasoned ground beef. They did not skimp on the meat topping! The salad was filling. We went during the dinner rush. Sat at the bar and servers and cooks were super nice. We ordered fried mushrooms, cheese burger with house made chips and a grilled tenderloin and fries. Everything was great. Tenderloin was super tasty. Since we sat at the bar we got to watch the cooking take place, their cook was on top of it and did a great job! Loved it! read more

Traveling from Madison to Indianapolis we took the back road through North Vernon and stopped for lunch at Miller's Tavern. By 1130 the place was packed, and we were probably the only non- locals. Ordered the large tenderloin and homemade chips, as well as the chicken wings. Lots of sides to choose from. Everything is made right there in the bar at the griddle and fryer. Tenderloin was huge and one of the thickest I've ever had. Nice and juicy, secret recipe seasoning, made in house daily. We definitely found the right place for lunch! read more

I am going to start by saying that's so far in the state of Indiana this is the best tenderloin I have had! It was so good that my hubby needed to go back 2 weeks later. The second time that I went I ended up having the porterhouse steak dinner and although the steak is thinner they cooked it perfectly medium rare. The steak dinner is a great deal because you get the steak, a baked potato how you like it, a salad, and a piece of garlic toast. To add more about the tenderloin it was thick and lightly breaded and crunchy on the outside. The thickness made it nice and tender and juicy on the inside. We will definitely go back to Miller's again. I will say that it is a small place so if you get there right at dinner time you just may have to wait. read more

Was out and about checking out tenderloins. Really had high hopes for this place. It was 1:30 on a Thursday. Not too awful busy, however had to wait for drink order food order. Service was horrible. The waitress brought the food out and was never seen again. Well she was around just not at our table. The tenderloin was large. It was alright. Was the not the best I've had. Maybe the thickest Pork Tenderloin I've seen. Juicy; full of flavor; seasoned well; and tender. The breading was crisp and stuck to the meat. No grease, fat, or gristle. Oh, and huge. The sandwich was $12 for the large. Get some spicy curds too. Service was fast and friendly. read more

Food was great. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was the style of a cheers type bar. Really enjoyable experience. As with other reviews that I have read, the tenderloin was fantastic. I put it as one of the best that I ever eaten anywhere. It is definitely worth the visit just for that meal. read more

While passing through North Vernon on a road trip, we decided to stop for lunch and chose this place. We were pleasantly surprised! When we first entered, the ambiance gives off a typical small bar vibes with a few booths in addition to the main bar. We were expecting typical bar food. However, we got much more! My husband ordered the pork tenderloin sandwich which was the biggest sandwich I've ever seen! We ate it for 2 additional meals after this one. I ordered the BLT which was also huge along with onion rings which were delicious. My only complaint was that the booths were pretty worn and broken down which made it uncomfortable to sit on. Ambiance is great. Small town bar feel. We come here often with our service dog and they have never discriminated against us like some places have. We we never drank here only eaten their food. So can't say anything about the bar service. But the prices on food are reasonable. And the large tenderloin brings me back time and time again. My girlfriend loves the taco salad. If you want a massive tenderloin in southeast Indiana this is your spot. read more

First off YOU CAN SMOKE HERE! We were looking for something new and decided on Miller's. It's a very, very old building with a very uneven floor and has not been updated maybe ever. It's located downtown and on the corner. The bathroom doesn't have a doorknob so you have to grab the lock and close the door. There are tables and chairs and a bar with grill for cooking. The waitress was pleasant and took our order. I had the hamburger and an order of onion rings. The hamburger was on the dry side, but the onion rings were scrumptious! I ate all of my meal. My husband ordered the steak sandwich and he decided it was meatloaf and he hates meatloaf so he didn't eat it. He also ordered fries and they were ok, he ate them. His fries and my onion rings were from a freezer bag I'm sure. I don't think anything was made from scratch. We are still searching for an original place that does that. read more

Visiting the area from New York and I wanted to try all the restaurants in North Vernon. Miller's was interesting - you can smoke inside. The food was pretty good and the beer selection was plentiful. The beer prices are so cheap!! In New York a Stella costs $10 and its only $3.50 at Miller's! Can't beat that! I really like the place. They have a good variety, from apps to sandwiches to dinners. You can smoke there, and it's not a kid's hangout where there is loud music and stupidity all around. Portions are always huge. Service is excellent. It didn't earn the fifth star for two reasons: 1) Sometimes drunken bums are in there, and they sometimes try to beg or come out of the toilet with soiled pants. 2) There isn't a lot of growth or new choices on the menu, it is what it is. While the menu doesn't grow, it does have a lot of options. Again, on the plus side, no kids are allowed, and you can smoke! The whitefish is good, the fish sandwich is good, the burgers are good, and so are the steaks. You will not leave hungry. The tenderloin sandwiches are huge, and you'll need the knife and fork that come with them. The waitresses have always been very attentive and friendly. It's not perfect, but you can't miss with this choice. read more
