This place has been here since the dawn of time. The town grew up around it. The town has changed over the years. When I started coming here, there was a single-wide trailer with hand painted "Post Office" but that has been hauled off. The Brick is the hub of activity for Jonesville. The food is OK. It's cheap and fast. Putting grilled onions on top of the cheeseburger is as fancy as it gets. You won't even get a plate. I once heard a customer ask what kind of beer they have and the answer was, "Both kinds. Bud Light and Miller Lite." What makes this place is that it is the social hub of a small town. There is absolutely nothing fancy about this place but that's what makes it worth the drive. The Brick is famous for 1. Cheeseburgers 2. Chili 3. Cold Beer but they should add a 4 with Superior Hospitality! Some might say "dive bar" and everyone is entitled to their opinion but I would call this bar, that has been there for over 120 years according to the staff, "comfortably rustic". Not family friendly! Found this establishment on yelp, one of our favorite parts of traveling is finding little local places to support. Upon entering we were rudely met with "you can't bring your kid in here" comments with fingers pointing us out the door. Immediately turned and left. It would be nice if it was listed in the info section if this is an "adult only" place. read more

If you put these burgers in a blind taste taste from any decent chain, they would lose. The locals hype it up. It's not good. The chili is also terrible. The reputation actually precedes this place, but for the price, simple down on the farm feel and that old school raw flat grill & onion taste, the Brick is noteworthy. As I was exiting the rear adjacent the railroad tracks, something was approaching along those steely infinite lines. Baking in the sun I could make out a pair of headlights approaching steadily from the South. Sure enough coming down the tracks was a maintenance road-rail vehicle, as it approached The Brick it slowed and eventually stopped. On exiting the vehicle one worker stated "thought I'd stop on by and have a cheeseburger". Classic and priceless, this is the draw, this is The Brick. read more

Talk to Columbus people, and they'll tell you that The Brick has the best burger anywhere hands-down. After my first visit, I'll agree that they do make a pretty damn good burger. It is however quite different than other good burgers I've had: it has a very light texture, like it was just freshly ground up and made - nothing in there to make it harder. But the result is good, just different. As for extras, chili is decent, but nothing too special, and you have a wide selection of chips and sodas. And as the reviewers mentioned, you have that hasn't-changed-in-30-years vibe inside. And the prices can't have changed that much either: a 1/3 lb. deluxe cheeseburger and 1 large bag of Kruchers potato chips and one can of coke total $5.50. read more

Food is served on a paper towel and not especially very good. Considering it's out of the way location I suppose it's the best place to go in that little town. I will keep driving g next time. I am a local, and have been eating at the brick for years. It's a very limited menu, in an old building, in a tiny little hamlet south of Columbus called Jonesville, but it's got a friendly vibe to it that keeps you coming back. The burgers and chili are terrific, but make sure you get grilled onions on the burger. The wait staff are efficient and friendly and you will get your food pretty quickly. It can be hard to get a table in there on Friday or Saturday nights, and smoking is allowed. Don't expect fancy digs in this country diner/bar but who really needs that anyway. read more

So unfortunate. Drove several miles to try their burgers with my family who were visiting from L.A., Phoenix and Tulsa. We are a family of Asians and sad to say they were not friendly. My nephew forgot his license at home and we understand that they can't serve us. However, their message delivery was not appreciated. Got a strong racist vibe from the two men working the place.
